I don't know if people have realised it but Handa is constantly injured ever since Onana became a starter. And it could only get worse if he stays for one more season. If we extended him he would just be a presence in the dressing room. On the pitch it wouldn't make much of a difference whether we keep him or not.

As for D'Ambrosio, his playing time has been so limited this season. 105 minutes played: 1 start, 3 sub appearances. Even now Skriniar is suspended, it's reported Darmian is favorite to start. So i don't know if it makes sense to keep D'Ambrosio around. It's not so hard to find cheap backup cbs.

We shouldn't be afraid to let the old guard go when time is right. And for these guys, it's time.

Yeah definitely. I think Handa staying with lowered pay would be fine, but I have a feeling he rather wants something else. As long as we don't have to invest in the 2nd keeper too much.

D'Ambrosio, he could technically stay for yet another season but I think his role could be more close to Kolarov locker room presence / training ground veteran guy than anything else. He's so slow these days that I have a feeling he's close to done at this level.

Best would be to just let it go with them. We need to rejuvenate.

I’m almost on the point where I think we must sell our players with some value above a certain age (Brozo, Hakan and Dumfries for example) release, sell or loan the players who doesn’t offer what their salary justifies (Mhiki, Correa, Gosens, De Vrij etc.). Cut a lot of wages and costs and become financial more stable. While doin’ that invest in our youth academy, buy some talent and build a squad for the future. Offcourse we would need another management and coach and preferably another ownership. But the way things are going this moment isn’t leading us anywhere.

I mean the way things are going the Serie A is becoming a farmers League while bleeding talent left and right. We should compete with Lazio, Roma, Atalanta and Milan for those CL places while saving a lot of money while doing it….

This should have been done 10 years ago, but unfortunately the Inter owners only babble about project, while they show zero in action. They need to look at how someone like Johan Cruyff reshaped Barcelona and implant a clear project for Inter which is smart and sustainable.

Johan Cruyff did not cause the debt, their board incomptetance in the past years did. Johan Cruyff was behind the reshaping of La Masia and having a clear gameplan which made them 2 great Barca and several domestic and European titles.

Juventus' minus-15 penalty points for the capital gains case, without considering other possible punishments that could come in the following months, is not going down well with the pro-Juventus media. Among them is Tuttosport. Through an editorial, which appeared today in the well-known Turin newspaper, Inter and Ausilio's actions were also brought up. In practice, another strand of the famous sagas, "And so fan tutte" and "Why only Juventus."

THE TRANSACTIONS - The newspaper reports in particular three transactions carried out, by Inter's DS Ausilio, nicknamed "The King of Capital Gains." That of Andrea Pinamonti to Genoa (1 million loan with mandatory redemption at 18), Marco Sala to Sassuolo (outright) and Zinho Vanheusden to Standard Liege (12 million plus future resale). The striker, bought back from Genoa at 19.5 million (estimated value 13.5 by Transfermarkt), was later bought back by Inter at 21. As for the Belgian defender, he was then bought back by Inter in 2021 for 16.2 million (when his value according to the site was 2). No wrongdoing and no regulations violated, as the paper concludes. However, which throws another dig: "Unless you see it as those who claim that planning capital gains and putting them in place systematically is a serious violation of Article 4."
Dear Tuttoshit, there is a reason why Ausilio is the King of Capital Gains, and your thieves are just amateurs.

Did Juve repurchase any its players it sold to gain a tax benefit i.e. capital gain?

Because the examples of Pinamonti and Zinho show that any tax benefit gained was swallowed in the following year(s).

MAROTTA: ‘RESPECT FOR SKRINIAR, BUT INTER CANNOT COMPETE WITH WAGES’
Inter ultras in the Curva Nord released a statement this evening noting that Milan Skriniar had explained his reasons for deciding to leave as a free agent for PSG in the summer. The fans seem to blame Inter and Beppe Marotta for initially putting the defender on the market and then changing their minds.
Meanwhile, Skriniar started but is no longer the captain of the squad.

“With a little sadness, as it could’ve been dealt with better, Skriniar is a professional and has the right to make his choices. However, there are certain values in the captain’s armband that have to be shared and if those are not shared, then he cannot wear it.

“As for the rest, Milan must play for the club, out of respect for the fans, and we go forward. I think sadly these are situations we will see again in future, as Italian football has become a league of transition and we have to recognise our best players will probably move elsewhere.

“As I said, it is the right of the player and his agents to make those decisions. The captain’s armband was not so much a disciplinary issue as a sign of sharing that sense of belonging. We have the utmost respect for the player, he is a great professional and we cannot complain about his attitude.”

Chelsea alone managed to out-spend Serie A, Ligue 1, La Liga and the Bundesliga in the January transfer window, so what can be done to react to these investments?

“We need to generate champions in house, invest more in our youth academies and put rules in place to get the best out of our product. If you look at the Premier League, then they spent over €700m compared to a few dozen spent in Serie A. They have extraordinary spending power and that alters competitiveness.

“We must therefore take steps to get the best out of our resources.”
Future of italian football is not that bright

Marotta has a losers mentality. Even if we are a transitional league, you don’t start going on about we have to accept that every best player will leave. Of course it’s probably true but for someone who maybe has political ambitions in FIGC, you don’t go around saying it and admitting defeat in public.

I don't know man.....

I am director at work. His issue is spending and income coming it. You can't compete with another team/company paying more in wages or that can hire 2-3 extra people per team. It sucks but it's reality.

I mean get why he feels that way but he should be trying to forge a path instead of lamenting. Which I guess he is hinting to with saying we need to grow champions in house. It just doesn’t seem like he is willing to see beyond the short term future and help to build a new successful model. Italy will always be a force in world football because people are mad for it here. Why shouldn’t Marotta and the rest of FIGC be plotting to rebalance the scales, even if it realistically won’t happen for a good while?

His job is not to look for long-term future. His job is to bring trophies to Inter while cutting costs.

You realise he's simply making excuses for his own failures right?

I believe Marotta knows exactly what he is doing: constantly highlighting the shortcomings of Italian football, insinuating the he can come with the solution. He is already campaigning

Honestly, I would laugh my fuckin ass off if anyone from figc, including marotta even hinted about competing with premier league, that would be straight up delusional and borderline manipulative. There are cases where it is not a good thing to admit defeat, but this is not one of them.

Comparing it to other sports, it would be like euroleague not wanting to accept defeat against nba lol. Like you can do that, but who do you really try to fool with your fake winning mentality and brave face. That ship sailed away more than decade ago, when seria a and premier league still didn't have that much of an economic gap between them.
