You have to wonder whether Marotta & Co anticipated the Oaktree takeover, and the possible change in transfer strategy. Because the signing of Taremi & Zielinski in January on free deals seems too big a coincidence. Surely those deals would not have been sanctioned now if those contracts had not already been signed before Oaktree took over. So thankfully Marotta & Co managed to close most of this summers business 6 months in advance, that can only be looked at as a positive

I think they would have done it whether they knew it or not. They were great deals to get done.

Look at the wages and transfer fees for Real and City. But top 4 for Serie A is a big stretch. 21st Scudetto is coming.

I take it at face value.. they expected a refinancing, it got fucked last minute because of stupidity or nativity or whatever doesn't matter and the new unexpected management have bad to honour contracts that were previously signed. That being said I don't think either signing are lemons

If I am not wrong, those kind of deals are allowed 6 months before their contract expires and most clubs wrap it up similarly.

They wrapped them up because of the rules allowed them to do so, after that it’s binding and nothing Oaktree could really do about it.

It’s normal to wrap such up at 6month mark before contract expiration, so I honestly don’t think it’s much to do with the whole ownership situation.

Don't have one.
Does anyone remember when was the last time we had a player's press conference after we bought a player. I know we had them but can't remember exactly when we stopped doing it. Was it after a gabigol debacle?

I see almost all the other teams doing it, so I wonder why we stopped. Don't miss them btw, it's all mostly generic responses and questions anyway, just wondering why we stopped.

I think we stopped doing it ever since Marotta arrived. For example i remember Inter having a presentation for Nainggolan

Yeah well that's not the same. It's staged in the sense that he will probably know the questions before the interview, so it's nothing surprising in there.

We basically cut the potential blunders.

Well no point in it if it’s not a mbappe type signing

We need some temporary solutions like getting players on loan specially for the striker or rwb spot.

Pretty hilarious the amount of apologists Oak Tree has. They've come here and after the entire summer we have signed a reserve GK and thats it. They wouldnt have signed Taremi or Zielinski, and every other rumor has been immediately shot down like Hermoso. I dont need to wait two summers to know what's obvious. If these losers dont sell by next summer we are in BIG trouble.

They have also kept our best players which wasn't the case under Zhang.

I'd rather keep the core intact than resort to player trading. If you go for it, sometimes it works (Onana-Sommer plus Pavard), sometimes it's ok but not great (Brozovic-Frattesi) but sometimes it's a disaster (Correa). I may have put bar too low after Zhang but for the time being i am just glad that for the first time in a while i have spent a summer without reading about Inter offering their best players to the market to cover the losses.

So not team oak tree or sunning but every season we are bleeding money. We just gave our 4 biggest player contract extensions and contract bumps

We won the league last season. If I was the owner I wouldn’t have even bought a backup goalie. Would have told the coach user your youth team!

Unless we can break even by selling out every game and winning the league then we should y be dreaming of big signings

Like look how bad our financials are given the results we have had the past few seasons it’s crazy

I would have sold Hakan, Lautaro, Bastoni and Barella. And forced the coach to use youth playwrs

You don’t buy a club for 1 billion to lose money every season or at best break even

With 10 million I can make you 1m at least a year. So with 1 billion + to be losing money that’s pretty pathetic

Its entirely possible Zhang wouldve sold a big player but its also very possible he wouldnt have. Either way, this kind of ownership level is not sustainable. From Zhang or Oaktree. Juve are buying the world and have the ability to continue doing so. Meanwhile we're relying on our great business from 5 years ago. You cannot compete with the level of money Juve are spending and will continue to do so. We got very lucky we bought a great core of Barella, Lautaro, and Bastoni whom all have worked out as well as they possibly could have and then have surrounded them with great free transfers. We will be fine for the next 2-3 years but we cant afford summers like this as our squad ages.
