Sorry to interrupt the off-topic, just found this important piece of information that will help us better understand how to the management has to operate under Oaktree:
According to Calcio e Finanza, Oaktree has granted Marotta more power regarding incoming deals. The same goes for his faithful associate Piero Ausilio.

Impressed with Marotta’s capabilities, Oaktree has confirmed his old powers under Suning.
Marotta and Ausilio can operate on transfer dealings worth up to €10m.

Together
they can also approve contracts for wages of coaches and players worth up to €5m gross per year without Oaktree’s express approval.

However, Marotta will have to closely collaborate with the CEO of Business, Alessandro Antonello, for high-profile acquisitions: Marotta and Antonello must see eye-to-eye regarding transfers worth €20m or more, whether it’s incoming or outgoing deals.

On top of that, player and coach salaries exceeding the €10m mark would require Antonello’s signature. This without requiring Oaktree’s express approval.

=>

It seems that it was not Oaktree that didn't want incompetent Ricky Rodriguez 😎

Zielinski, Taremi, extending Lautaro, Barella, Bastoni.. sealed the obligation Frattesi and Carlos. Didn't sell any key players and keeping the band together who reached the 2nd star.

Are u trolling?
We have only 3 forwards. One of them is already wrecked. Let that sink in.

Extending players really has nothing to do with the mercato. And how you "seal an obligation"? An obligation is already 'sealed'. Those two are last years deals, even if we are paying this year, we couldnt avoid doing so.

Zielinski is a good signing. Trashremi i dont care for at all.

Overall a pretty lackluster mercato. Failing to get rid of trash and not getting a quality forward and/or defender (so far atleast). Coup de mercato is keeping hold of core players, which is pretty boring indeed for a big club.

Boring? we kept the Scudetto squad, extended our backbone and got 2 quality players in Zielinski and Taremi

I prefer this mercato to Milan's... Drum roll please, your big new superstar signing is Alvaro fucking morata
Fully agree sadly for most fans in the summer it s quantity over quality... Look at all the new shiny toys we got just to realize their all shit once the season starts.
Imho we had a good market addressed our main concerns without spending to much.. A new rwb and striker would be the cherry on top...

Also extending players contracts very uch influences your transfer strategy as it has an influence on your budget also in our case had we not renewed them we probably would have sold one or two of em.

Mercato looks good on paper, because we haven't sold anyone of the core, also managed to bring in quality additions like Zielinski and Taremi, but the issue of defence remains wide clear. Acerbi has been quite inconsistent last season, and he isn't getting any younger or sharper. de Vrij has been solid, but I can never trust him because of his mental state.

The guy is too fragile for me to put all the faith on him, no matter if he's putting a streak of solid 25 matches throughout the season.

Don't wanna sound like complaining, but we certainly need some fresh blood in defence (that includes RWB spot as well).

This. Management looks for the next few years at least every summer, if you extend players you can project the costs further, you can project how the squad looks in the coming years too. More information to your bosses, they can make decisions easier when they have more information about the future budgets etc

As predicted this Mercato is shaping up be a classic 0/10

So Zielinski isn’t an improvement… let’s see how Taremi performs he can’t possibly do any less than Sanchez when he returns. Martinez is a better second keeper than the hopeless Audero while we are at it.

Without major sales Inter where never going to make noticeable purchases

Also hard getting rid of the so called trash, it’s in its nature that players that hasn’t performed like Correa and Arnautovic isn’t exactly hot on the market, those are after all the only ones that fall into said definition
