If we are strictly talking about stats, Arnautovic had 10 g+a last season. Give me 15 and I'd be content with him.

Forwards normally don’t do a lot of key passes. Goals and assists.

Stop focusing so much on g/a stats, Icardi had great numbers and barely won anything. Kane has great numbers, still no trophy.

This is a good point. If player is involved in team's game, is contributing, according to his role, that's enough for me. Usually scoring goals is part of striker's role D) but I accept less if other contribution works. Let's say top striker doesn't score because he gets double-closed down. But that leaves space for others to score (and our game is partly designed for this to happen)

End result (winning) is indeed all what matters.

Well that player, especially striker, might feel bad if he has 0 goals and 0 assists, that is true.

But in a true hypothetical, I don't care if Darmian is the only one that scores goals for us whole season. It's what we achieve with the goals that matters, not who scores.


Also to add to this, if Taremi has 30 goals and 10 assists, but mostly only scores in games we were already comfortably winning, while failing to play good in derbies and be total shit in CL, I rather have Taremi with 4 goals and 5 assists where the whole team profits from it.
