He doesn’t need to, and has never needed to, put up the kind of goal numbers he was putting up in his best years in Portugal. But he does need to bury at least one of those two glorious opportunities he got last night. The only one who can get away with that level of shithousery is Lautaro and that’s only because he eventually ends up being our leading goal scorer and an occasional Balon D’Or candidate.

We’re not getting shit for him so we need to figure it out together on the pitch and salvage whatever is left there. He’s not a bad 4th/5th option in theory when he’s not missing glorious chances that you would expect any striker to score.

Honestly blows my mind how he cant score. Dude has a successful track record in Portugal of scoring and he comes here and just forgets how to finish? His quality is there to see and he scored that great goal vs Milano but thats it. I get scoring in the portugese league isnt as impressive as in Serie A but its not like he's coming from the chinese league. He was a really good forward for a UCL club. He just cant finish tap ins all the sudden. It's like Inter are a disease to backup forwards. Since its clear we arent shopping for another forward we'll just have to hope he can round into form. That was never going to happen anyways, even if he became a starter and was still in his prime Liga Portugal form.

For the one reason alone that he doesnt take penalties here. A massive amount of his goals in Portugal came from penalties.

34 out of 113 goals overall scored in all competitions when he was in Portugal came from penalties. Thats 30% of his goals from penalties, thats quite alot, he was never the prolific goalscorer from open play that some people here seems to have thought he was and expected him to show here.

79 goals from open play in 15668 minutes equals about 1 goal from open play every 200 minutes from his time in portugal.

Thats the reality of the player, at his best years in europe in far weaker league than serie a. Given his decline last season and the limited role he has here it should not come as a surprise that he cannot cut it.

He has somewhat shown that he can offer something in terms of assists and buildup play, it just falls very short of what is needed because none of the other sub forwards can score to save their lives.

4th - 5th forward option should given to some Italians, our primavera or our ex primavera boys.

Hire old foreigner to settle the position have a big risk.

The board of directors should know what those old foreigners is looking for at inter, collecting a huge salaries for their final year at their career, stay for awhile and then, leave.

That's why Inter should give a regular starter (1st option) role to those old foreigners, trust them a lot of pressure to give best performance in every matches available, based of their experiences, their physiques, and their skills. not demotivated those by trust them 4th - 5th option role.

I'm sure he'd make a decent striker for a midtable Serie A team. Well, this is inevitable when you shop around the free-agent market, where deals like Thuram are rare! We should get lucky with these deals or dig South America for young talents.
