'Icardi wants to stay at PSG'

Mauro Icardi’s legal advisor believes the Inter striker ‘has the desire’ to stay at Paris Saint-Germain and that Leonardo ‘wants to keep him’.

It had been reported Icardi would be returning to Inter at the end of the season, with PSG not taking up their €70m option to buy, but Letterio Pino is confident the Argentine will prolong his relationship with the Ligue 1 leaders.

“Leonardo knew what Mauro would give during the season,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“He didn’t play in a couple of Champions League games, but that was only because there were 18 other very good players at PSG.

“In my opinion Leonardo wants to keep him, and I hope the PSG will do that. Certainly that’s the idea.

“Mauro makes himself loved by everyone. Those who know him speak nothing but well of him, both as a professional and as a person.”

Pino was then asked about interest from Napoli and left the door open to a move down south if the French giants did not go through with their purchase.

“De Laurentiis and Giuntoli, above all the President, have always done everything to try to bring Icardi to Napoli.

“Last summer, Napoli were the right place at the wrong time because Mauro wanted to stay at Inter and he didn’t want to betray the Nerazzurri fans.

“President De Laurentiis has been trying to sign him for many years. Right now, out of respect for PSG, Icardi has the desire to stay in Paris.

“In the event PSG don’t take up their option to buy, he’ll be able to make the right decision with Inter and Wanda Nara.

“Napoli are a club of excellence in Italian football. Icardi has never hidden his affection for them and Maradona.

“The idea that Inter’s captain goes to Juventus seems a bit contrived to me. I don’t see it as a very feasible track. After that, obviously Wanda will take care of things.

“Contacts between Icardi and Napoli go back to last summer, then the season stopped. Now Presidents are thinking about the season and not the market.”

More good news :D

Sport Mediaset: In the past few hours Paris Saint Germain sporting director Leonardo has made contact with Inter with regard to the purchase of Mauro Icardi.

Icardi is currently out on loan at the newly crowned French champions, who have an option to sign him up on a permanent basis for a sum of €70 million, which could rise up to €85 million in the event that they go on to sell him to another Italian club.

The signs that Paris Saint Germain will take up the option to buy are growing increasingly positive and as a result Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta is already thinking about how to spend that money. As per the report, Marotta is ready to start making moves for Brescia’s Sandro Tonali and Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa, as he wants to increase the contingent of Italian players on Inter’s books.

GdS: Paris Saint Germain sporting director Leonardo has already probed the ground with Inter and Mauro Icardi regarding a permanent switch. :boogy:

“#Icardi ha cambiato la sua posizione negli ultimi mesi aprendo alla permanenza al #PSG. Dai club, inoltre, filtra che il suo contratto con i francesi sia già depositato” https://twitter.com/InterCM16/status/1259188397173858304?s=20

Fabrizio Romano: In the last few months, Icardi has opened up to the idea of staying at PSG. Furthermore, there are voices from both of the clubs that his contract with the Parisians has already been deposited.

Take this with a grain of salt until I can find the clip of Romano saying it, but it's looking like we're sitting with 70m in the bank

PSG using the option to buy Icardi might be the first reasonable thing I have read ever since this Icardi shit started. I mean there is no reason for PSG not to use a huuuuuge discount for an awesome world class striker, especially when their own first choice striker is leaving (apart from post-covid financial issues which I cannot predict).

All thing considered, this would be the least painful option for us imo

They will ask for a discount for that already discounted option price.

Why? Because they can. They know Inter's situation. Hopefully Cavani doesn't want to stay and Marotta calls Leonardo's bluff. They need such striker as Icardi after all. Mbappe as number nine is an awful idea. Someone should slap him in the face (because it's him who demands himself to be played at CF position).

Actually Mbappe + Icardi up front is lethal and it's the closest thing we've seen since Ronaldo + Vieri, which unfortunately for us we didn't see that much of. And obviously they neither are at that level but there aren't that many better than them out there either these days so it's a fitting comparison as well as a testament that individual quality has taken a big dip.

I know 70m sounds like a lot in the post-COVID-19 scenario, but this summer's market will not be as doom and gloom as people are predicting. 100-200m is not a big about for owners of clubs like PSG or City or Chelsea or even Inter, and Newcastle now have the richest football owner in history. It just takes 1-2 big deals to start a domino effect of big transfers all over Europe.

Yes, there will be discounts this summer. But 70m for Icardi is already a big discount, so if PSG don't take up that option, someone else will.

I surely hope you are right. Lot of our market depends on us being able to sell Icardi for a good fee.

As you know, Suning isn't going to splash his money to Inter just like that. His target is to build a self-financing business. Our revenue has already took a hit before covid19 compared to last year. And now we cannot do all those required sponsorship deals because of lockdowns all over the world.

We desperately need to sell Icardi for big money. Hopefully we can do that PSG because that's the easiest and fastest solution. If they don't buy, it's gonna take months I'm afraid.

Let's just bury the hatchet. Inter is the team he wants most.

So I was just watching this (I know, slow morning at work), and I've noticed something, though I imagine it's obvious to most people.

That young Icardi that first arrived, up to probably the De Boer season, was a monstrous prospect. Left foot, right foot, acceleration, latching on to through balls, headers, curlers from outside the box, link up play, that kid had it all and he was displaying it consistently.

It seems like a real shame that when he transitioned into even more of a box poacher, bulked up, and lost some acceleration and top speed, he stopped showcasing those all-round abilities. Of course his goal tally ballooned even more, but at the cost of sometimes feeling like we were playing with 10 men. The quality and variety of his goals also dropped, apart from a few obvious exceptions (Rocket against Torino, that weird ass volley against Milan, the absolute thundercunt against Spurs, backheel against Sampdoria). Not particularly an issue, as I don't give a shit how they go in as long as they go in, but just something I noticed.

He had started to display those all-round abilities again in Spalletti's second season, particularly against PSV. Dropping deep, spraying passes, and TBH I've always thought he was the best crosser on the team and would have had quite the assist tally if he hadn't been playing with fuckwits for 90% of his time here. But, well, we all know what happened. I do wonder how he would have turned out if he'd had a manager that could have helped developed him differently. Ah well.

Good post, and you are right on all accounts. People think that players can impose their will to managers for some reason. If he sat in the box and waited for the ball, that's because someone instructed him to do so.

If you put aside that what happened with Spalletti and Wanda's bitching then selling Lautaro for 100 million and bringing Icardi back would be some kind brilliant move. It is just that big if you need to put aside.

Icardi may be that bad apple no one can handdle for longer time but if someone then it is Marotta and Conte.

Also I would guess that Icardi and Lukaku don't make that great partnership. Both needs someone who is quicker and creative with them. Eriksen might help with that.

I would suggest Icardi would be a better partner than lautaro. Icardi is very economical and precise with his movements, lautaro goes to ground alot and wastes alot of possession.

If Toro leaves, I would be glad to see a Lukaku-Mauro duo attacking up front. Regardless of what happened previously, this guy is among the top7 goal scorers in the history of Internazionle.

I believe 100% the duo Lukaku and Icardi will work. They complete eachother so good, for example with Lukaku being a perfect link for the midfielder which we haven't seen with Icardi.

I still have mixed feelings about forgiving Icardi but I still think we should have a detail in his contract with Wanda getting a fine everytime she opens her mouth about Inter.

do we really think icardi and wanda wont start some sort of drama within months if they come back?

when you are trying to win titles, we can do without that distraction

Personally I wouldn't want to see Icardi together with Lukaku. I rate Lautaro mich higher than both, considering potential as well as what they can bring in the present. Ideally I wouldn't pick either Icardi or Lukaku to be at Inter as I prefer different type of forwards that I think fit the modern game better and Lautaro will be one of those IMO.

He's already shown a knack for scoring in big games (Napoli, Juventus, Milan, Barca, Dortmund) and he's a forward who can have a great game without scoring.

Sorry but he can't come back the bridge is burnt there is no way we should consider bringing him back and palming off El Toro when we are already accustomed to Luka-Lautaro on and off the pitch. I mean if Lautaro wants to slap us in the face and go to Barca fine, but that doesn't mean we should bring Mauro back. How could anyone in the club trust him again? His last match vs empoli he was so fucking bad he almost cost us the UCL spot.

I'd put my feelings aside to win titles and I feel like selling Lautaro for 110M and getting Icardi back for "free" is good buisness to reach our goal.
