The problem is that we are too dependent on Icardi for the goals. So if Icardi has an off day, we are fucked. Perisic does chip in with his share, but Candreva is more focussed on assisting Icardi than scoring himself. Spalletti needs to tell the wingers to cut in more often and take the shot. The two wingers need to score in double figures every season.

Even then, we are one goalscoring midfielder short. One of our midfielders needs to score 8-10 goals a season, and at the moment its hard to imagine anyone doing even half that. IMO that is our biggest problem. We need to replace Bro/Mario with a proper AM who can score consistently.

We had that kind of midfielder but we let him go back to Sevilla for pocket change.

i think we might sell this guy. there might be some truth to those madrid rumous - dont know how this will turn out. depends on how much we get and who is gonna replace him

maybe 2 new strikers and a midfielder so we can start playing 4222?

the way its going this season will go down the drain like before

I think we should to be honest. He's a very limited - but exceptional in specific ways - attacker. The problem is our team is exclusively set up for him, which means when he plays badly we fail as a team.

I would rather sell our attacking trio, get 3 new guys who are more rounded as a team. Having someone like Icardi is fine if you're a bigger club and you have fucking Neymar or suarez or Salah...

to think, icardi could have gotten us Salah, Bernadeschi, and left us money spare

Both these guys moved to clubs that play in CL and Salah could have been more expensive for us anyway and there was no guarantee he'd be an instant success. He's very well suited for Liverpool's style and the general EPL game. But he wouldn't have the same effect at Chelsea, Man Utd and definitely not at Inter, Milan etc... I think Bernardeschi rejected us. So did Schick and probably a few others, too.

Talking about selling Icardi is just wrong. Maybe if a 9 digit offer comes in the summer, after the World Cup, we might consider something but that's a long way ahead. The only players we need to mention sales for are the players that aren't helping us and/or are dragging us down. Those would be Joao Mario, Eder, Brozovic, Gabriel Barbosa, Nagatomo etc and we need to evaluate Dalbert's situation in the summer as well. Those should bring us more than 50m and reduce the wage bill significantly to meet (and exceed) a potential Icardi sale's financial benefits.

Selling Icardi without CL football means that we will replace him with someone like Andre Silva or Mattia Destro.

I know, its unlikely we would have been able to get Salah... just saying, though, for the money we could have a much more rounded attacking trio.

What we need is a good backup to Icardi. He has too much responsibility to score goals but the rest except Perisic don't contribute much.

That makes me wonder why we sold Caprari when he had a decent goal record at Pescara? Verdi or Gabbiadini would be good back ups.

maybe not a back up...maybe a second striker a la Papalacio :unsure:I actually like the ex-Bbilanista from Barca(can't spell his name right)he can play on the wings or closer to goal...brings something different than Perisic and Candreva...but Pastore should be the priority(in my book)

I'd ideally sell Mario and Brozo and get Pastore and Deulofeu(had to google it)

--------Icardi
Perisic---Pastore/Borja-Deulofeu/Candreva
Gags/Borja-Vecino

Mario seems like he wants to leave ffs...
Brozo is just not in his right mind...the inconsistency is dreadful

this is a pipe dream however

meh...he set up Mario perfectly...like a top trequartista...not his fault he is surrounded by...he isn't just a camper anymore...

he had a bad day in Sass ok...

but Perisic and Candreva and the trequartista are letting him down...from Brozo,Borja and Mario...sub par games from all 5 of them...

I look Inter fans being so sceptical after our horrid losing streak that even think Icardi's sell out might turn things good for us and we speak about his efficiency. He is clearly not our problem.

So no, no, no

and no.

But a bigger club doesn't have Neymar, but a richer club definitely.

I missed the Milan match but I was going to say, didn't he also set up Eder in similar fashion vs Sassuolo only for them to both miss easy shots?

Considering the shitshow of both those matches he was close to two assists.

Exactly. It was almost the same kind of play by Icardi.

Though he is the least of our problem right now. Its just our wingers are underperforming lately and our midfielders are too limited. We aren't any dangerous with Joao Mario supporting our attack. Besides Perisic has been terrible lately and Candreva has been stubborn with his useless crossing here and there.

We desperately need someone like Pastore in the January transfer market. He's fragile as hell but at least seems like we can afford to sign a quality player like him.
