According to Di Marzio, Lazio, PSV and Lorient are interested in Zanotti.

Trade Zanotti for Acerbi. Replace the "o" for an "e" and get serial heart attack.

Good old Inter, pissing away their future and for what exactly.
do you have any evidence/opinion that he's good enough to be useful for inter?

To be cheeky, do you have any evidence that he's not?

Only statistics. Aged 20, no serious first team game time yet, I'd bet the number of players who are 'in his boat' and make even a Serie A career is less than 10%.

People in his boat need to be breaking through aged 18, 19 really.

Handanovic is probably the 'latest' breakthrough in our squad - he wasn't a first team regular starter until aged 22, but otherwise basically everyone in our squad (didnt check them all individually) was a regular first team starter by the time they were 20 years old, many with at least a season or two under their belt too. Not all of that is at top flight level, btw, a lot of 2nd division (or in some cases evne lower), but the name of the game is game time. Game time, more than anything, correlates with chances to break through and 'make it'

I've got a month before my new job, I think there's a real chance I might sit down and do the statistics on the last 10 years of our youth team..... Let's see if I have a bored enough day to actually do it properly. It would be interesting to see what came out from it. Our youth team may be a poor example, though, might be better to go with Juve or Milan or Arsenal or someone like that. Let me know what you guys think.

it's basically zhang suning strategy i suppose. every potential of graduated player would be sold effectively by them as the players basically categorized as pure cash by zhang suning. it's already their pattern so far.

btw Gagliardini didn't even start a real first-team game until he reached 22 yo. so basically Inter bought a new senior player that time for 28m! pure waste of money!

Our primavera provides quite a strong source of plusvalenza, that much is true - but really, how many of them do we truly regret losing?

Like, in the last 15 years, off the top of my head I'd argue its only Bonucci who has proven to be a top level player? You can argue yes/no about Zaniolo. Dimarco is evolving nicely into someone who is quite useful for us, but the rest of them? Benassi? Biraghi?

Our biggest sales from the youth team have been, basically
Di Gregorio - 4mil (We may still end up regretting this one a little bit, I dont think he'll be a top level keeper but could be useful for us as a spare)
Gravillon - no regret, 3mil
Pinamonti - 19.5mil (obviously not as simple as that) but no regrets there I think its safe to say?
Vanheusden - 12mil (no regrets)
Puscas - 7.5mil (no regrets)
Adorante - 4mil (no regrets)
Sala - 3mil, no regrets
Bettella - 8.5mil, happy with that
Valietti - 5mil, happy
Odgaard - 6mil, happy
Carraro - 5mil, happy
Zappa - 3mil - not clear cut happy, he has two seasons of Serie A under his belt, now a full season in Serie B. he could still make it, but I'd say its looking unlikely
Zaniolo - 6.75mil, everyone knows the story
Eguelfi - 6mil, no issue there
Miangue - 3.2mil, no problem
Laxalt - 6mil
Biraghi - 5mil
Crisetig - 2.7mil
Bessa - 1.2mil
Mbaye - 3.5mil
Ventre - 3.5mil
Duncan - 2.6mil
Obi - 2.2mil

What objection do you have to any of those sales? Please share

I would say if anything, for most of them, we probably got their all time highest valuation and their careers have been mostly downhill since.

edit - oh, there are 2 more to be added as well. Salvatore Esposito, who was a free I believe, and Gnonto. I dont know what the career potential of either are right now, but its always a shame to develop an Italy international and not have him at least play for the club a bit. I dont know if Esposito is even good enough to be in Serie A, seeing as how Spezia may still be relegated, but still. Gnonto has hardly set the world on fire at Leeds, but obviously they're a shit show and he's still super, super young

edit2 - sorry, casadei left off as well, but too early to comment imho

Sometimes you can spot a talent by watching just 10-15 minutes of him playing. In those short cameo he has been showing some potential to be a better player than Bellanova who we are about to buy for 7 m? This begs the question, why pay 7m for someone who is going to rot on the bench the whole season when you have your own product for free to take that role, not mentioning the potential he has?
If you give Zanotti 10 first-team matches in row, he will deliver that potential faster.

I remember watching Dimarco when he was 17-18 y.o. and he didn't impress me as much as Zanotti did.

I dont know, thats why I asked a simple question - has anyone seen anything in him to suggest he will actually be worth taking the bet on? I haven't paid enough attention to him, so I dont know. I'd say its *unlikely* but by no means impossible.

the thing to remember, if we were to use (say) Pasa as an example, that was a kid I thought had good potential - I'm not sure he's even a professional full time footballer now. Dont underestimate the 'range' of potential.

Bellanova has 2 full seasons of first team action under his belt. On a really good day, I can last longer in bed than Zanotti has minutes at the first team in his entire career.
