Inter youth product Lorenzo Pirola has signed a contract extension ahead of his loan to Salernitana.

The 20-year-old defender was at the Nerazzurri headquarters today to sign the new deal until June 2027, adding a further two years to his current contract.
He spent last season on loan at Monza, helping them achieve promotion to Serie A, and has already been training with Salernitana this summer.

“I am happy, it’s all signed. I have very positive sensations about my experience with Salernitana, both from my teammates and the staff.
“We want to have a great season. The objective is to secure safety and we want to achieve that. Afterwards, the objective is to come back to Inter, as I went through their entire youth academy process and I am an Interista.”

According to Sky Spor Italia, Salernitana have an option to buy for €5m, while Inter retain a buy-back option at €8m.

According to Sky Spor Italia, Salernitana have an option to buy for €5m, while Inter retain a buy-back option at €8m.
Slightly contradictory report coming from FCIN:

Inter are aiming to get a buyback option inserted in any permanent sale of defender Lorenzo Pirola to Salernitana at the end of the season.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri want to avoid losing hold of the 21-year-old for good in the way that they have with goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.

Pirola is currently on loan with Salernitana until the end of the season, where it is uncertain whether he will stay in the summer.

The young defender had been at Monza over the two seasons prior, both in Serie B, although the Brianzoli declined to exercise a purchase option in his deal.

Di Gregorio had been another player on loan with Monza for a couple seasons, but unlike with Pirola, the Lombards did in fact sign the goalkeeper permanently at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has been having an outstanding season with the Brianzoli, with his form of such a standard that he has kept Cagliari-owned Alessio Cragno out of the starting eleven all season.

Inter got a taste of this with Di Gregorio’s excellent display to keep a clean sheet for his team at the San Siro on Saturday in a 1-0 win for Monza, with coach Simone Inzaghi ruing how the opposition keeper had been the best player on the pitch to keep his team from scoring.

As FCIN notes, Inter will be feeling no small regret at allowing Di Gregorio to leave at a relatively small fee, and this could lead them to exercise more caution with Pirola.

Salernitana have a €5 million purchase option when the 21-year-old’s loan deal runs out at the end of June, although they could ask for a discount.
The Nerazzurri spoke with Pirola’s agent Beppe Riso a couple of days ago – FCIN report that the Nerazzurri made their intentions clear, as they would be ready to sell him but would like a buyback option.

Meanwhile Di Gregorio`s current value has risen to €7M.

Well doesn't Salernitana first have to buy him for 5m ?
In that case the investment would be just 3M. Yes , you would lose the opportunity to cash in 5M plusvalenca in the books but if you trust the kid you do it

they can buy him for 5, but Inter has a 13M buyback clause, so 8M.

13 m deserved for him. solid season at Salernitana, italian tax, inter academy graduated, why not? even inter ever wasted 20 m for mediocre Ranocchia at Bari.

i take spend money on him rather than 20-30 m for fucking Demiral.

I assume the buy-back clause doesn’t end this summer? In that case i would let him stay at Salernitana. Another season starting at Serie-A level would do him good.

Buyback clauses usually have expiration dates. If we don't activate buyback clause we will probably stop having any control on the player past this summer.

As reported by Tuttomercatoweb, Salernitana exercised the right of redemption on Lorenzo Pirola for 5 million euros, as agreed at the time with Inter, before the loan. The nerazzurri club, in all likelihood, will not exercise the counter-purchase set at 13 million, probably too much given the future plans of Zhang's company.
Does that clause is valid only this summer?
Maybe tuttoshit are wrong.
