It's not so much the pitch, as safety concerns, related to practicability of the city in case of heavy rain and wind. A meeting between Civil Defense and the prefect of Rome is scheduled for around 2-3 pm

Imminent flooding risk in the red zones. In the Lazio region, something between 100-250 litres of water are being forecasted, as well as the risk of very strong winds (even small tornadoes) and flash floods.

From that, things are looking pretty dire. I imagine this gets postponed.
