Two corner kicks and a penalty... reminds me of the only Derby Della Madonnina I attended on 11 Dec 2005 (day before my 21st birthday). Also in that match, our only goals came off set pieces. 3-2 final after Adriano headed home a Veron corner in extra time.

Even though I watched yesterday's match from the couch, it goes right up there among the most memorable Inter matches of my life.

1. i have been wanting to post since last night, as soon as after the match ended. but, it was a big dilemma for me. knowing it is a fasting month, i should manage my sleeping time properly between my night sleep and pre-dawn meal for fasting. i usually go to bed at 1 AM while the game started 45 minutes afterward. i kept thinking that these motherfuckers would let me down or lose the game if i force myself to watch it. and that would be a major fuck up for my day at office in the morning. so, i decided to try to sleep and i could not do it well. i woke up like every 15 or 20 minutes to check the score. after Icardi's goal it was getting disturbing. holy shit, Vecino scored ! and that really was the bye bye to my night sleeping. i was so fucking happy despite going to work with only 2,5 hours rest.

2. it is such a beautiful day in the post treble era. although, i have to include that sweet victory against rubentus which ended their winning streak in their stadium.

I think we all would rather win the Scudetto, but its time to be realistic. Think baby steps.

CL group stage means €40-60m in additional revenues every year which can be invested into the team in advance - that is our most important objective, to always finish in the top 4 from now on. Because while Inter can spend €200m on the squad this summer, we can only retain those players as long as we keep qualifying for the CL. On top of that, CL KO stage means another €20-30m in additional revenues, which can be very useful to improve the squad further next summer.

This year it was much easier for us in Serie A because we did not have Europe. Next year it will be a lot harder with midweek games. I think a more realistic goal should be to get at least 75-80 points in Serie A while also playing our best in the CL. Its not like we can play the primavera in the CL and focus only on Serie A. Most of the world, specially our new sponsors in China, will watch us in the CL. It is important that we play well there for sustained revenue growth, and also to acquire and retain ambitious players.

With growing revenues and corresponding investment in squad every summer, the Scudetto will come eventually.

But the real significance of 11 Dec 2005 was that Inter hadn't beaten Milan in 10 their previous meetings, and the most recent Derby was the CL QF that got abandoned after the Curva Nord hit Dida with a flare. Then Milan blew it in the CL Final thanks in part to a Jerzy Dudek masterstroke. I remember they were selling Liverpool scarves outside San Siro

The coreo of the fans contained Dudek walking on the goal line during the penalties. I remember like it was yesterday.
