I still give him a chance to start the next match alongside Correa. We hardly got a chance to see these two playing together. Maybe that finally breaks his deadlock.

He's been dreadful to watch, but playing with a countryman upfront who has more speed and technique might help him as well.

Is this the next excuse? He needs a countryman beside him lol

He can't take on a defender for shit. Correa needs to start because our only attack is playing through perisic on the wing. Need someone else who can take on a defender head on.

Thought he started OK but got a bit desperate and started trying all these waist-height, first time passes and failed miserably. I don't feel like Dzeko passed to him even once. Considering how much Martinez needs to play off the target man, he's going to be limited if the target man can't or won't find him at any point in the game.

Even taking into consideration Dzeko's masterclass in failure, Lautaro was still far too uninvolved.

Not an excuse. Not defending him at all. I always mentioned Lautaro's ceiling is not very high and I was critical of him even when he used to score goals for us. But he looks very down and with no idea upfront. Playing next to a countryman with different characteristics, which is more close to where Lautaro came from, might fire him up to do more. After all his form and record playing for Argentina is very different to what we see him with Inter.

Sanchez is in poor form and Dzeko is too old to be relied on every match and as I said, we barely got the chance to try a LM-Correa upfront; so I think the next match is a good time to go for it.

9 non-penalty goals in 35 appearances this season - 0 in Champions League, 0 in Coppa Italia, 0 in Supercoppa (just penalty). Goals against Salernitana, Cagliari, Sampdoria, Spezia, Hellas, Bologna, Napoli and Atalanta. Just two "heavy" goals this season.
It's more than disappointing. I was pretty sure that he would score about 20 goals this season - with our offensive gameplay, with him as our new most important striker after Lukaku's departure and with few more goals scored from penalties, but he regressed so much that he won't be able to score 15 league goals this season imo.

I know he's having a bad spell and looks very weak, however the whole team is suffering the same spell.

He is still a world class talent, we know this deep down, we are just frustrated with him right now.

DO NOT sell this guy.

Great money for sure, fantastic even. My fear is who replaces him? I only see Toro being sold off cheap and replaced with Dybala. Money great but we lose a superstar, in my eyes.

In what way exactly? I genuinely want to hear you out because maybe I'm missing something.

From watching Lautaro here for 4 years now I noticed all of the following:

He can't dribble, he doesn't even have the balls to try, can't bully defenders, lacks physicality, he's not fast enough to even run past the slower and less capable of Serie A defenders, too short to utilize crosses, can't shoot, consistently inconsistent, can't be a main striker, weak mentality (remember when Inter got him a psychologist to work with on this last season, wasted money), atrocious decision making, goes to ground every single time he gets close to anyone, takes forever to get up, often simulates despite not getting a single foul after 100 attempts, takes forever to pass the ball and often misplaces passes.

His perceived market value stems from winning some games with Argentina alongside Messi and from being an Inter player who happened to win the scudetto last season. This guy is literally Belotti-level player. Sure he will impress sporadically with a great first touch or an attractive move and that will give you an illusion of brilliance, but that's a deception. Let's be realistic, would you be even remotely comfortable having Lautaro in the starting line up of a decisive last-matchday fixture? Or even Coppa final?

Inter needs new strikers. We cannot have our starting striker head into his fifth season hoping he will finally unlock his potential and become a reliable scoring machine.
