I’ll actually take a pen like that from him considering his normal approach. Not placed well but at least he hit it hard enough that it was always going to awkward for the keeper to handle.

I rather see him take these kind of penalties. Strike it with real force. Toro should train those type of penalties, not the ones where he places the ball, since those just doesn't work for him. He's had penalties before where he just strikes it properly and goalie has no chance. Just remember to check the grass before taking the shot (Atletico).

Shooting with real force requires precision aswell, that's why the safest option is shooting straight above the middle, a la Diego Milito. The latter used to score many PK's like that. Lautaro's issue is lack of composure, not his shooting technique. He tends to miss great opportunities aswell, but he'll score unbelievable goals. Same goes for Barella, at times.

So it's both composure+power/technique. Zlatan used to miss PK's aswell, but you'd never expect him to lose it, or even Hakan. I mean, even if the latter would lose three PK's straight, I would still have 100% faith on him to score the next one. I dunno, it's a mix of a few things. I wouldn't make it a big deal actually, and I wouldn't mind Lautaro missing more PK's for us, as long as they are not decicive in match results. I think eventually he'll overcome that psychological obstacle.

Of the pathetic Lautaro penalties we've been blessed enough to witness, this doesn't even crack the top ten.
It actually wasn't a bad one...

Powerful low shot at the limit of the GKs shoulder.

Those can mostly be saved with the legs, which is rare.

Subscribing to the theory that as soon as he doesn’t score for one game, he’s in a drought.

Love how people will come back to him as soon as he joins the scoresheet, while ignoring every other contribution he does in our game. X goals in Y games is such a prostitute that it makes real football feel like a playstation game where everything is designed to a certain pattern and it has to happen how it's instructed by robots.

Well he's also our main goalscorer, on paper if he isn't gonna do it no one else will. We would have had much less patience with any Inter lead striker in the same situation.

My point was related to a period when he was struggling for goals. He's been in a great form recently, but once his goals are missing, people will throw him under the bus, despite that he's still contributing in overall and his presence still makes us a better team.
