That may happen but it won’t be a club in Italy.
It might even be in italy, but it wont be Inter unless Lille accepts monopoly money for him.

It also wont be a small fee for him tbh. Lille's entire season is extremely dependant on him, surely it will take atleast 25m€ for them to consider it, probably more.

I think Arsenal will try to get him in january, they desperately need a goalscoring forward.

The most disappointing missed chance today isn’t even Hakan for me, it’s his touch on the Dumfries pass. Top striker needs to get at the minimum a good save from goalkeeper and should really be scoring.

On the replay, I was hoping Dumfries would've ended up offside so that at least VAR would've rendered it null and void. Christ, Lukaku would've been proud of that first touch on that pass, that really should've been a first time shot let alone something he tries to control and ends up failing miserably at. Without thinking too deep about it, that was probably our cleanest scoring chance of the entire game and on the foot of the player we should want to have it on.

With the CL format now the way it is, Lille will still be playing in the CL come January, and they're currently in a top-8 spot and most assuredly a lock to at least be in the play-off round. They're also well in the fight for CL spots in Ligue 1 right now albeit it's early. At a certain point, some players are more worth the last five months they'd play with you than whatever transfer fee you'd get for selling them early, and David must be in that territory.

Also David and his agent have no reasons to accept a move in January. They can wait and collect for themselves a juicy signing on fee in the summer. It would also give them more options as top clubs rarely make big moves in January.

Wed probably do what we did with eriksen, eg most of it as the bosman signing but with a fee for the club as well

It kind of makes me laugh when posters on here say that he needs to take a couple of weeks off and rest. We are three months into the season and him taking time out is not an option until Christmas. If he had any sense, he would recognise that his present form is not helping anyone and he needs to catch his breath. He should remain in Milan during the international break so he can pause.

What is really alarming is that he appears to be a step behind everything which is not going to help us.

He is on the NT squad list that was announced last week, so yeah.

Honestly at this point some kind of light injury that would put him out (of his misery) for 3 or 4 weeks would be a godsend

There's 26 more league games alone this season. And then there is UCL. And coppa. And supercoppa. AND his NT duty and then CWC as the cherry on top.
Meanwhile we barely ventured into November and he is already completely spent, him returning early was the worst decision this club was part of and it's jeopardizing our season big time.

Dude needs rest one way or another, it's only a question of whether its gonna be planned or involuntary.

Not just him returning early (which was influenced by club desperation due to injuries of Taremi and Arnautovic) but also Inzaghi decision to start him at Genoa despite Lautaro having 0 minutes in pre season friendlies and only few days of training. It was very short-sighted by Inzaghi and it could have a big impact on our season.

Physically it was very evident that he is lacking something. Biggest problem is also that he lives from confidence which he doesn’t have when lacking something.

Don't have one.
Him returning early has nothing to do with the current form, that can only serve as a cheap excuse imo. He is not the only player that played huge amount of minutes last season and had very little rest during the summer. His awful form goes way deeper than just the mere fact he had a short resting period...

My theory is he put inhuman effort into the last season for a myriad of reasons (new contract extension, coppa america, important title chase) which is now coming to bite him in the ass. And everyone who watched him last season, especially in inter shirt can confirm it, he was absolutely restless, running his ass off in every game, with very little or none calculation or game picking. Now in this season he didn't just default to his baseline (lautaro from 2 or 3 years ago) but way below that.

I also wouldn't be surprised if he is carrying some injury, which we will find about only when season ends.

Solution to the problem is competition. We have Thuram who starts alongside him who suffers from the same confidence issue. Taremi is decent but theres zero players in the squad to push them outside of that. They know theyre guaranteed minutes no matter what. Arna and Correa barely count as athletes lets alone football players. If Oaktree had balls we could go pull David out of Lille 6 months early and watch these guys start performing. Of course that wont happen because this club has ownership who now can, but we all know wont, spend. As compared to Zhang who would, but couldnt spend. It all starts from ownership. We dont have it.

That's players to blame. By this logic Juve must rip their arms to pay for a Vlahovic calibre to sit on the bench, or Napoli should buy another Lukaku... Or else he could lose his interest and not score and excuse of being overused?

He is the captain and receives 9-10m net for a reason. Every-single-team could hardly afford one main striker and that's his business to deliver.
