Unfortunately, Lautaro has shown time and time again, he's not meant for this stage.

One of few players I have felt connected to since the treble and I don’t mind if we part away with him. But let him go in next summer is a suicide move, the rest of strikers are questionable, Dzeko, Correa, Lukaku. We have transition time with Lautaro and Icardi, replacing whole upfront guarantees disaster.

Yeah biggest gripe with him was that he's always looking for a foul on any contact, ref made it clear he wasn't giving any of that shit so he should have adjusted. And I liked how the ref reffed the game.
Don't know how Lautaro didn't realize by now that he is a terrible diver and literally no ref gives him fouls for what he perceives is a foul, not only tonight but in the league as well. He should've played on on several occasions yet he just looked up the ref waiting to give him a foul.

He really disappointed me last night. But in some ways his performance wasnt "that" much of a surprise. Should have given him the captains armband, lmao

"At a tight angle, the World Cup-winning star( Yea right) was through on goal and had the chance to shoot, or the better option, play the ball across the box to two of his Inter teammates, his call to shoot straight at Ederson was slammed by Henry, who stated that ‘he now has to sleep on that one’, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+.

Inter fans had every right to be screaming at their TVs and shouting from the stands in anguish at that moment because, as Henry put it, Martinez decided ‘he had to score’ and ‘not Inter Milan had to score’.

Not long after, Rodri would write his name into the history books by becoming the first Man City player to score in a European Cup final and help Pep Guardiola’s score secure the Treble.

It was heartbreak for Inter, who will still be feeling the hurt of last night’s defeat, with Henry sharing his thoughts on that very costly moment from Martinez.

“I will go back to the one with Lautaro Martinez, I am sorry, you have to cross,” said Henry. “Not only one time, two times, three times, four times and five times. The only solution you have is to cross. It would have been a different game, now he has to sleep with that one.

“Akanji let the ball go thinking the goalkeeper was going to get it – If Martinez recomposed himself and you really take your time to see Brozovic at the top of the box.

“Lukaku is with Ruben Dias, so it’s difficult to play him. If he kept his composure, then he would have seen Brozovic and it’s a tap-in. It is a tap-in.

But he decided he had to score and not Inter Milan had to score. You don’t always have to score, the team has to score. Pep (Guardiola) was on his knees praying.

Lol

People making way bigger fuss out of that than it should be. Nothing guarantees a goal there if he attempts to pass to Brozovic. That's what Henry is claiming.

Talk more about your boy Lukaku missing yet another EMPTY NET.

What I was disappointed in Lautaro was the ref too much into his head like mentioned earlier. He didn't realize ref wasn't giving him FKs, he should have adjusted. Ref missed at least one clear FK (then compensated it in the next play in our end but anyway).

But Lautaro was there fighting very well on those long balls, but he lost maybe a bit too many balls for my liking.

Not pissed at lauti but henry has a point in he should have passed there...
I dont think it would have been a sure goal but he should have passed...
Also seeing his reaction after the game think the dude will come back stronger, plus i ve been shitting on him for such decisions for a long time now but i really think they have gotten less and less.. Just sad that he did it again on th ebiggest stage

He definitely improved a lot in the second half of the season tbf. Really took on some of the criticisms of him head on. I hope it continues into next season too.

Lautaro has Inter heart by now, it's so clear. He wants to win with this team. He scores enough goals to justify his place and role in the squad when we add all the non-scoring contribution and intangibles.

I feel for him to a certain extent. He had to essentially fight alone with no one to connect with for a lot of the game. Dzeko just wasn’t able to provide any support. It’s really tough to get in a rhythm as an attacker and get some early confidence that way. Then Lukaku comes in and this chance finally pops up and he’s frantic. It was kind of a return to the old hit and hope version of Lautaro, which we hadn’t really seen this year.

Hopefully he’s grown as a player now that he’s tasted both a Champions league and World Cup final. He’s still the guy we should be building around.

We've had many times situations when the player doesn't pass but wants to score himself.

And without putting a tin foil hat on, i think it's more of a how big you think of the club you're playing for.

Same situation, but if he was in a Xavi/Iniesta/Messi era Barca, he would've passed the ball. Because the team is bigger than the player...

Anyway.

Fuck it.

At first I yelled at him for not passing the ball but Lulaku is surrounded by 3 or 4 City players, can't blame the Belgian too since he was alone in the box so moving away from them all was impossible.

Maybe pass it to the Inter guy just outside the box ? Don't know which player it was but I guess that was the better option.

Rich coming from the biggest choker of finals, the allegedly great placed shot king, that passes the ball to goalkeepers when the games matter the most

Ridiculous argument by a (former) striker that felt the need to put some sauce here and defend his friend's terrible awareness to get free from one defender and eventually got double marked, but somehow Lautaro had to give him the ball instead.
Brozovic was days away...

There was no other option than shooting. The only better decision would have been to take a better shot. It wasn't even that bad, it was a decent save, but given Ederson's movement, a low shoot could have sealed it.

Henry is generally the best pundit on that show but he's being biased there. If there's one play you are going to go revisit, it has to be the Lukaku miss, as that was by far the easiest chance to score.

However, Henry was the assistant coach at Belgium and Lukaku's friend so of course he's going to bring up the other chance - not a fan of that at all. Regardless of whether he has a relationship with Lukaku, as a pundit you have to bring up Lukaku's miss as the big moment if you're going to bring something up.

There was more options than passing the ball or hit the ball aimlessly in that situation but Lautaro panicked.

The best thing he could do is to try to pass the ball to Brozo. But we all saw it multiple times his awareness of team players around him isn't good. He is our best forward but he isn't a world-class striker. Still, we have to keep him since he is the only decent striker we have.
