Indeed he was pretty poor, but our attack is kind of a mess in overall. It's not only an individual issue though. As a whole, they are struggling to adjust themselves properly, no matter if it's Lukaku-Lautaro, or Dzeko-Lautaro partnership. I thought Lautaro is VERY limited when he's playing with Dzeko up front. The latter one is very static and makes it easier for opponent to man-mark him, which means Lautaro has lesser opportunities because Dzeko doesn't help it.
I'm not even putting the whole blame on Dzeko, because Lauti was dreadful as well, but football is a collective thing so if you don't get the help then it's gonna be easier for your opponent to shut you down.
We have seen that Lautaro tends to do some brilliant things, and all of sudden ruin everything by a bad final touch, or giving the ball away too easy, which could be many factors due to this. There's a few matches where we have dominated our opponent by far, and that was becuase as a group we were quicker and we had far more movements which made our opponent confused. We were unpredictable though.
Just look at the match vs Milan in the Supercoppa for example. We created so many opportunities and we scored quick goals, and that is because we had plenty off-ball movements and we were quicker in reactions. Nowadays we are usually too passive, we make slower decisions which makes us look VERY predictable in attack.
I'd want a Lukaku-Lautaro duo from now on. At least Lukaku is quite active lately.
