Looking at the positives when he came on Argentina took back control of the game and were dangerous going forward, his flicks side turns and one toos can help in a game like this.

He just has no composure, the first chance he missed he could have faint shot to th3 left and he would have had an open net, he just gets it and shoots with no regards to where the GK is or any awareness on easily he could score if he just notices what's infornt him.

His shot did result in a goal so his contribution def counts, im happy that his career with Argentina is actually a positive one with two titles under his belt.

The negative is if he doesn't improve he is a 6/10 striker at best, I mean if u get removed from The starting 11 in a WC that says a lot about u as a player, if that doesn't change his attitude to improve nothing will.

I stil have faith as some strikers became WC later during their careers but he has to get to work, and hopefully as a WC champion he will work harder to improve himself.

Scaloni prefers to wait Alvarez totally gassed out rather than subbing in Lautaro, that speaks volume of how low Scaloni rates the latter. And the performance justified his judgement. He lacked so much confidence that he didn't shoot first time and it was eventually blocked. His header at the last minute was closer to the spectators tribune rather than the goal and a couple more of wasted chances. He contributed to Argentina's third goal, but he should have scored it and he was lucky the rebound went to Messi. It was a terrible world cup for him and the climax was at the final. The only positive thing is now the world can relate to our pain watching Lautaro, Lukaku, and Dzeko wastes all the chances in the world.

I'm very pleased with the minutes he got in the WC. Would love if he gets dropped permanently from the NT.

Anyway, his WC final is kinda like Lukaku last performance at the WC. Didn't take the chances themselves but the teams were falling apart without them anyway.

Look I don't like the guy and wouldn't mind him sold.

But he doesn't come in they don't score the 3rd goal and France are champions right now. You guys are sometimes like high school girls with who you randomly hate for day. Next week you will all be circle jerking about this dude being the 2nd coming of Christ

Unless he leads us to Scudetto/CL glory this year I don’t think neither he can move or Inter can ship him in high value anymore

It's not as if FIF is the only place that's shitting on LM atm, the whole football world ridiculed him for his display yesterday and during WC in general

He is fortunate as fuck on the other hand. Argentina won despite his numerous misses. For him it's most important that Argentinians will forgive him, it's just that it cost him the starting spot, which he can regain in the future.

He still did A LOT MORE than Pipita did OR EVEN Aguero did for Argentina. Lautaro is not world class, but he still deserved this World Cup win, even he wasn't one of the main contributors in attack.

Not true, some players are retiring from international football. Lautaro has 21 goals in 42 games. That's a goal every 2 matches he plays. I believe 3 of Garnacho, Julian Alvarez, Lautaro and Dybala can easily either play together.

Argentina won thanks to Messi. The whole defence was retarded in the final too. 2 stupid avoidable penalties and a goal from open play where Mbappe was totally free. Its not just Lautaro , who was saved.

Dybala was nonexistent the whole tournament, but gave his contribution in the penalties which is no small feat.

It doesnt matter at all who did how much, they were all carried by Messi for a whole month.

Even a declined penaldo had more goal than him in WC. What a disgrace, from starter to bench warmer. Super inconsistent striker

I actually think he did good when he came out in the final, even most people ridiculed him.
The movements were good which a lot mentioned already, and he has a mature understanding of the game; besides the last header all his other chances weren't that horrible as the world made it to be.

The first chance actually was well defending by Upamecano, I mean yea Lautaro might have blasted it in instead of having a touch, but the space he had there normally allows a touch, so like I said good defending by Upamecano, and it was not that bad of a decision by Lautaro.
The second one, it was actually saved by Lloris, even it was given a goal kick, but if you watch the replay in slow motion on the side angle you will see it; Lloris saved it with his right foot, kicked it.
The goal, he set the ball for Messi to start the attack play; his shoot was a tight angle and if he passed, it would have been blocked by Upamecano; I think everything he had done there was good.

The header was bad, he mistimed it completely, but again showed up at the right spot to do it.

He has what it takes to become a WC striker, and the contrast between him and Álvarez actually makes me understand why is he valuable more, they are both developing, but Lautaro is further up in the development stage, and IMHO Lautaro is actually a way better striker than Vlahović. I know I will get a lot of hate for this, but if Lautaro becomes clinical, you can start comparing him to Van Persie, Benzema.

All my friends are asking me how Inter scores with Lukaku and Martinez btw. :yao:

Almost anyone can get unlucky and perform inconsistently over a short period of time. It's really a small sample and doesn't need to define the rest of his career. I hope he doesn't get hung up on it. Being inches off for some goals and missing a couple of sitters in <20min sub appearances don't make him the next Higuain.

He improved Argentina's play, fluidified the attack and got in the right positions every time he was subbed on. Sure he was left snatching at his chances but he was a valuable member of a World Cup winning side. That speaks volumes.

the problem is, stepping up in moments like that is where careers are defined. Its how you go down a legend, or in 10 years time, no one remembers you.

He's failed at those big moments for a while now, and if he wants to achieve his potential, he needs to deliver on them

He can count himself lucky Argentina won or else he would be one of the most hated footballers in the world.
France scored their 2nd goal after Messi got dispossessed by Coman
