10 millions? Isn't it 2-3 millions too high?

Have we played him more than 5 times?

This better be 4 random 16 year olds in exchange worth 2.5m each

Romano reports that a bit funnily. It's as if Inter is the active party here. The deal was loan + obligation ie. certain events activate the obligation to buy, not Inter.

This is non-news, or should be for everyone. We were always going to sign Asllani for 10m€ after the loan deal.

Every time I've seen him play he's impressed me. He should definitely be getting more time and we should be planning to use him as a starter soon. That's where hakans renewal becomes complicated because i think asslani has the potential to do very well in that role. It just means we need another mezzela

He has 0 minutes in the last 4 matches. I believe he's our biggest purchase from the summer (14 million redemption?), yet the coach has almost no use for him. He's supposed to be Brozo's backup yet has 2 starts in Serie A despite Brozovic missing months due to injury.

There is a clear miscommunication between the moving parts of the club.

It's crazy how this can happen at a club like Inter which is supposed to be amongst Europe's elite and certainly has the means to perform like one. It's clear that the department responsible of buying players didn't get the approval of the coaching staff for the signings of Bellanova and Asllani. Moreover, the management also clearly lacks the authority to force the coach into playing these players who are assets the club has chosen to invest in with despite the scarcity of resources.

It's not like these players are so young or so foreign that you have to give them some time to settle before giving them minutes: Bellanova has been a starter for two years, last year being in the Serie A, and was always a well-known prospect with plenty of youth national team caps; Asllani, albeit younger and therefore less experienced, had established himself as a starter in Serie A for the second half of the last season and is already an established national team player.

Utilizing Darmian and DDA ahead of Bellanova shows that the coaching staff rates Raoul to be a nothing player. The mistrust him so much so that they include Zanotti on the bench.

Similarly, despite our only other true defensive midfielder in Brozovic being out with injury for extended periods of time, the coaching staff opted to turn Hakan into a regista at the age of 28 and use Gagliardini ahead of Asllani. Even today, Carboni was subbed in ahead of Kristjan but that was also partly due to the urgent need to score and I'm not going to complain about a Primavera player getting meaningful minutes. However, all this goes to show that the coaching staff rates Asllani to be a nothing player as well.

I'm not even going to get into under-utilizing of Primavera talent, since it could be that all our Primavera players suck and none of them would turn into assets despite nurturing & playing them, so the coach doesn't take the risk in the name of not missing out on CL money. I doubt that but that's an entirely different issue.

The glaring problem is that we've committed ~€25m into two players deemed trash by the coaching staff. This would be OK if we were loaded like we once were, but in this case this is €25m better spent on some other player or even added to the rainy day fund.

Inzaghi cannot afford to go on like this if he doesn't meet expectations, since it's easier to sack the coach than to offload the players. However, we really shouldn't have a summer like this again, where we waste the few precious resources we have on nothing players. Marotta & co.'s going to be on thin ice in the upcoming mercato.

It's kind of funny that the only other elite European clubs facing similar issues are Tottenham and Milan, both with Italian managements & staff. At least at Tottenham it's only Djed Spence, Conte's giving minutes to even Pape Sarr now. Milan is in a funnier predicament than ours: Adli & Vranckx never got a chance, Pobega's been kicked to the curb, CDK somehow flopped without getting four back-to-back 70+ minute starts in the league, and Thiaw was famously forgotten until Pioli had no chance but to play him due to every other capable defensive body being out and he somehow turned out to be their best defender. Pioli kind of righted the ship recently so all this will get swept under the carpet now but it also jeopardizes their chances of renewal with certain key players -- most importantly Leao.

Sadly, Suning has bigger fish to fry so this will not get addressed until after the Oaktree loan deadline passes.

Sorry to say this but Asllani at this stage is Kuzmanovic level at best.
And I don't want Kuzmanovic playing.

How did you conclude that, provided that he barely plays?

It's not as if he's a kid from the academies we never saw. We saw him at Empoli as well.

You're imagining he has improved but we don't know that.

Inzaghi is in such a pressure, has been all season that he doesn't have time to develop any player. Maybe he just doesn't see Asllani improving our game at the moment.

I don't imagine, as I don't think that he was bad or similar to Kizmanovic. First of all, Kizmanovic was very close to Vecino as body structure and uselessness. He was tall, very slow, technically limited and clumsy on tha ball. Asllani is nothing alike. He is very nimble on the ball, has decent vision and passing, but he is still poor defensively. The mistake of Inzaghi is that he sees him only as a registra, as long as the lad could replace Barella or Mkhitaryan and does some impact.

So, in this case he is not for this job. How Allegri for example, found some young players to rely on, when he was on pressure and some of his starters didn't delivered? How Mourinho inserted some young players and discovered Zalewski, when he wasn't happy with his starters?
It's only Inzaghi who relies on the same old players and proved shits like Gagliardini and Correa. People commenced complaining about Dzeko and Mkhitaryan, but those guys are quite old, and Inzaghi overusing them. So, it is pretty normal their performances to drop down. He even didn't try to develop young stars, as he gave them couple of minutes at the end of the matches, or put them in on immense pressure, like Carboni yesterday or Bellanova against Empoli.

There's no reason to overanalyze things. Inzaghi just doesn't play youngsters. It's that simple. And it isn't an issue that started at Inter. It has always been an issue since the start of his coaching career. Here's an article from 2021 at a Lazio fansite:

It's not a coincidence his squads are always some of the oldest in the league. He inherited the 3rd youngest squad in Serie A when he took over at Lazio in 2016/17. Take a look how it progressed in the following years:

SeasonAverage AgeSerie A Average Age Rank
2016/1725.53rd
2017/1826.59th
2018/1927.614th
2019/2027.716th
2020/212920th

At Inter he already inherited an old squad (3rd oldest at the time - 28 average age) but we have become even older despite offloading Perisic, Alexis, Vidal, Kolarov and Ranocchia (28.9 in 2021/22, 28.3 in 2022/23 - both ranked at 20th).

As long as Inzaghi is the coach youngsters won't play at Inter.

Allegri and Mourinho did in their respective teams.

Most probably he doesn't see, but this doesn't mean that he is correct.
Mourinho and Allegri were just examples that working under pressure is not an excuse for a high level manager.
