He shows his playmaking sense and skills as always; I really don't think we should limit his play into Broz's, but I think it stables and makes it easier for him to know where to position himself, as he is learning more about the game.
In short, I really think this guy just needs and deserves more play time and he is up for it. I really don't see why the others get to play more than him.
his positional awareness is still not there yet which makes sense since he is young. If he can get more accurate with his long balls he will be scare offensively, I think he could play anywhere in the 3 hope he plays more its the only way he will improve

I think that's the strongest part of his game. Both goals today came from his long passes.

I'd like to see him try more penetrating passes into the box. Take more risks.

He did couple of decent long balls, but he is not good defensively and his positioning is questionable. Inzaghi shall try him in all positions at the midfield, and see where he will fit, just like we did with Brozo before to find his spot.

We need to be patient with him. His passing is decent but he needs to work a lot in other areas. We shouldn't forget that he had just 6 months as a pro before joining Inter.

Personally i would have preferred Inter going for Ricci instead of Asslani who's a lot more ready and has higher upside but now that he's here we should give him a proper chance to develop. He should have played a lot more with Brozovic injured but the problem is Inzaghi sees him only as regista and he isn't a big fan of rotation.

He needs to look more how Brozovic moves, although Brozo is somewhat of an anomaly in terms of his movement. You can't expect players to move like him (because he's literally moving more than any player in the world on average). But the general gist of Brozovic's game is to be available for defenders for a pass most of the game.

He was very good but of course it was just Serie B side.

Calhanoglu's emergence as a great Brozo replacement has hindered Asllani's playing time for sure. But it's okay, it could have been maybe a bit too tough spot for the kid (ie. Inter could have had worse results if he was playing all this time instead of Calhanoglu as regista).

His passing range is impressive (some of his long passes from way deep fell exactly on the target's feet) and with both feet which is a huge plus for me. Loved how offensive he likes to be with his passing. Defensively I still haven't seen much to judge but according to posters here he originally plays in a more advanced position so it might not be his forte?

He is still erratic with his passing and visibly not on the same wavelength of his teammates (which is very understandable) but one complaint I do have and disagree with Cafe's post above me is him making himself available for a pass, I notice that when he's behind or around the halfway line and makes a simple recycling pass he just stops moving or drifts away from play as if he's done his job with that simple pass, it drives me mad like your job is not finished, always think of the next move and make yourself available regardless of where you are on the pitch (this could be an instruction by Inzaghi? Because he does seem to overdo things and might lose the ball in a dangerous area).

Something I’ve noticed is that his first instinct is often to move or pass backwards when receiving the ball. Players like Brozovic and Calha are more aware of where the ball needs to go when they receive it and can move the ball forward more quickly. But I guess you should expect that from more experienced footballers.

The point is that regista is a really crucial position in our setup and he’s clearly 3rd choice, which does nothing for his development. I echo what others have said in that should be getting more experience as box-box style player. I think he has that in him, certainly more than Gagliardini does. He knows how to attack space, he just needs more awareness in general, which can only come from playing.

At the beginning Brozo was also on several positions and he was bad, we all remember his always dissatisfied an complaining face, but here he is now, one of the best.
Asllani also must go with the same way, except complaining of course.

He has a huge potential, but without a proper development he will turn to Gagliardini.

Depends. He's 20.
I remember Gagliardini when he first came. In the beginning he was praised a lot here but then vanished. I think the Gags failure may be attributed to poor work ethic in training (compared to others in his main role on the team) and a lack of proper position - they kinda used him as a jack of all trades instead of pure DM or BWM so it didn't really work for him and he didn't complain but stuck here instead, choosing to be mediocre at best.
Asllani looks hungrier and very humble from what I've seen in interviews, knows his places in the team (behind brozo, gags). If he keeps that up, he'll be fine. Don't want another Brozo just because - it's best he becomes his own player. Also, smth Gags didn't have is not being italian - there's a lot of Albanian inter fans, serie a in general, so he'll work even harder as a result to become "an inter player"

Gagliadini failed because of his mentality for me. When he started to make mistakes, he stopped taking any risks, playing only safe and easy options. Thus, he has limited himself to his current, useless version. Brozovic was also in a similar situation, but he has found his spot.
I've seen that Asllani has a lot of energy and he wants to participate in all phases of the attacks, from building till the attacking of opposition's penalty area. For me, Inzaghi hinders him in this registra position, and Asllani should be used similarly to Sensi.

For me a part of the blame for Gagliardini's failure at Inter also goes to Spalletti. Because of his fetish on Vecino, he tried to turn Gags into DM, something he wasn't, in order to fit both in the starting lineup. Gagliardini was never the same after that season. Or maybe i am totally wrong and Gags was just one season wonder.

I agree about Sensi being used in a Sensi like role. I think it would fit him more.

Fuck  That's the problem when you post from work. I obviously meant Asslani.

Agree with others here, I definitely see Asllani as a mezzala instead of a regista at the moment.

It almost feels like you need to play in all other positions in midfield before starting to cement yourself as that DLP type, because you really need to understand positioning to a incredibly high degree.

Or maybe only Pioli knew how to use Gagliardini :)

He clearly has skills. He is technically good obviously and has a good set of skills on him. He should play above gagliardini at all times.

Gagliardini failed because he’s a shit midfielder with serie C level skills. We should have scouted better.

Asllani is already an Inter player. His clause has been triggered after the Milan's game.

Very happy to hear the news.

This boy deserved another season.
He is better than Gaglia.

Barella - Hakan - Miki - Aslani confirmed for next season.
