Coutinho and Kovacic were 18 and 19 respectively when they played for Inter, not 24 years old and still can't shoot.
There isnt about age only, there is alot of example great player when they play for Inter they only able to unleash their half of potential not only Joao Mario. He score 6 goal and 11 assist season before arrive to Italy and its not like he never scored some golazo before, the question is why? Even for someone like Perisic or Candreva they also hardly replicate their scoring rate while playing for Inter.
And when look at it again, our other midfield also wasted as much as chances with their chicken shoot, but ofc people only targeting Joao Mario since he is an easy target and people always feel threathen with his price tag. Its was indeed a mistake by Suning when they trust to KIA on their first year, but even if Joao Mario eventually leave, people probably will find another player to shitting on. They already start with Gagliardini, and probably Vecino will run out his honeymoon period and being new target if Joao Mario leave since on another thread there is someone who already comparing his price with Paredes price and amount of goal+assist they had this season.
Joao Mario seems to have suffered a big dip in confidence from being benched and his inability to score. Shooting was never his strong suit, but it looks like he's let that affect the rest of his game too. Now he's playing much more passively and doesn't work as hard defensively, which is definitely not something Spalletti wants. But he clearly has the ability, and we've seen good stuff from him before, so I wouldn't be so hasty to give up on him just yet.
Idk about Cancelo, he had some awful passes against Pordenone, but maybe he was too eager to impress or too nervous.
Lol. What a bias opinion.
Our midfielders try long ranges which are not their forte. Joao Mario failed to do tap ins and for the record not once or twice. He gets into a good position yet he can never finish the job. Most of the time he shoots right at the goalie. Very rarely our midfielders have the chances as much as Mario. If there is one to compare is Brozovic. But lets be honest, Brozovic would finish most of the chances that Mario missed.
You were comparing Mario shooting ability against Kovacic and Coutinho. You said age isnt the reason. It it not but Kovacic and Coutinho arrived as a raw talent like Icardi as well. But with times they developed. Mario arrived as someone who should make an impact. He has some talents but his shooting skills are very poor and it has affected him so much to an extent he doesnt even bother to improve.
Speaking of golazo. Fredy Guarin scored some golazo in the same league where Mario came from. Both failed to make an impact. So their experiences in that league isnt something to be proud of really. Barely remember someone who came out from that league and made an impact in their new teams.
Unfortunately Mario isnt a good AM. He lacks the shooting skills, he isnt creative enough, lately he is very slow in the build up as well. Most of his passing are backward nowadays. He doesnt mobilise much that makes our wings are quite static as well. Unfortunately he is losing his spot in the team. He is not a good winger and not a good AM. He cant replace Vecino Gagliardini bcs he is lazy to defend as well. He needs to pull his head out of his ass or else we shall sail away and say goodbye.
Gagliardini has been pretty shit as well but at least he works hard. He makes a lot of mistakes. Joao Mario has been lazy. The last time he came in as a sub, he actually ran less than Valero who has played 75 mins. I can tolerate players who makes mistakes and works his ass more than a diva who is lazy and when he has the chance to play.. he has tonsilitis. Lol.
People made Cancelo and Joao Mario sound like another Schelotto and Kuzmanovic is just laughable. We just never learn..

People on FIF like to bash players from Portugal. #newtrend
After 1 season people still didn't want to past judgement on Gabigol because he hadn't played enough but you all on fucking Cancelo like he has played worse than Nagatomo.
I think Gagliardini gives us a balance that Brozovic doesn't give us, I'd rather have him in midfield.
On Mario I agree with everything you said, and considering his skill set and what we've seen in the Euros should we just say fuck it and use him as a winger?
As others have mentioned, Cancelo, despite many garbage crosses against Pordenone, also did tee up teammates for three very easy chances which they inexplicably missed. As for Joao Mario, I agree with your assessment and it's strange because he was like a breath of fresh air in those early matches where he came on as a sub. Then when he started matches, he was nowhere near as effective and he's pretty much been a non-factor since then.
I agree with most of this but I'm not sure about the lazy part. That seems to the biggest criticism of your post but I personally haven't seen that level of laziness that you're describing. As for your last statement, yea, that's what shits me. Just when he might have the chance to be a protagonist - in a Coppa Italia match against a Serie C team, and as a sub in a stubborn match vs Udinese, he's fucking sick with tonsillitis of all things, AGAIN.
Not to mention he completely forgot about Bonaventura during the derby. He's not a defender and not worth 25 million euros.
That was more of Skriniar's fault. Not the first time he leaves a player unmarked when a cross comes in.He might has played great overally, but he was at fault for the marking on Falcinelli and the penalty on Berardi that luckily wasn't given. Just like Santon against Udinese.
Tbh, I would consider brink back Yuto to the starting XI.
I accept that was more Skriniar's fault, but Cancelo could react faster when he noticed the situation. That was more of Skriniar's fault. Not the first time he leaves a player unmarked when a cross comes in.
