Apparently he made his official debut with Lokomotiv a couple of weeks ago, before the international break.
Despite the loss, Joao Mario delivered an assist coming off the bench.

He's no Panterone Seedorf, but look at his nonchalance and the silky catlike move with which he went past his opponent to set up the goal.
Scratchy stuff by the Portuguese.

1:57 for the non-hyperbolic version of what happened.

2:31 for Lokomotiv missing the equalizer (the last slow-motion replay deserves to be seen).

An assist in the first goal by Lokomotiv. He clearly belongs to that more advanced position behind the striker/s. That and playing in a team Sampdoria/Fiorentina Level team is where he fits.

Agent Mario looking alive in the big match against Zenit, at least judging by the highlights (Lokomotiv won 1-0).

He also hit the crossbar from a one-two and provided an assist (the goal was then disallowed by VAR because of a previous foul).

IF he helps Lokomotiv against Juventus he is worth the 40M spent for him.

Lokomotiv Moscow Want To Sign Joao Mario On Permanent Basis From Inter

Lokomotiv Moscow have scheduled a meeting with loanee Joao Mario’s representatives to understand what he thinks of the idea of joining them permanently according to a report from CalcioMercato.com.

The Portuguese attacking midfielder joined the Russian Premier League side on a season long loan from Inter during the Summer transfer window with the Russian capital club having an option to buy him for €18 million.

As per the report, they have been left impressed by what the 26-year-old has shown during his time so far and they wish to take up that option but first wish to understand the thoughts of the player himself.

Joao Mario joined Inter in a then club record transfer back in the Summer of 2016 as one of Suning’s first purchases but has ultimately failed to perform to expectations in Milan.

The EURO 2016 champion has made 69 appearances for Inter since arriving from Sporting in which he has scored four goals and provided 13 assists.

Joao Mario: 'I don't want to go back' :yao:
Portuguese international Joao Mario said he’d “rather stay” at Lokomotiv Moscow than return to Inter next summer and is enjoying life in Russia.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Lokomotiv and said he didn’t hesitate after realising his opportunities would be limited at San Siro.

“I accepted a move to Russia quite quickly,” he told Sport 24. “At that time, I was in Italy and I knew about Inter’s position.

“If it depended on me, I would still choose Lokomotiv, to be honest. I like the club, the city. So, yes, I’d rather stay here than go back to Inter.”

Joao Mario admitted he was looking for a team that could give him an opportunity to play in the Champions League and said he had to move to make it into the Portugal squad for the European Championship Finals next summer.

“I was looking for a team that played in the Champions League and they were really interested in me,” he added. Those were the two main reasons for my move and the important criteria that had to be there. I realised that I had to play to get to Euro 2020.

“It made no sense to leave Inter for another team where I wouldn’t play, or somewhere it wasn’t clear what my role would be.

“You never know what will happen next. I hope that Lokomotiv will be able to get me, we will sit down and agree on everything.”

Lokomotiv are currently fifth in the Russian Premier League and are preparing to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League tomorrow.

JM doing a JM again. Glad to see he is not publicly complaining about the cold weather. Let`s hope this time it will be successful and Lokomotiv pays the "bargain" transfer fee.

Lol, Joao Mario. He's by far the worst signing of Inter I can think of.

Please go away.

I think I've wrote this before, but here it goes. I would agree with his sentiments (about Inter being a bad enviorement, it was when he came there) if he wasn't playing awful most of the time too. I think he only works in well in a counterattacking football, but it's not like he's a world class attacking mid, far from it.
