They expect inter to pay them 30m? Even though he terminated his contract?

Said it back then this could be a problem.

I read that Sporting wants to sue Inter because allegedly they put a clause which says if Mario is registered with another Portuguese club, 30 million should be paid to Sporting?

Lol. Whoever was on our side in that dealing is an imbecile. How can you let that stand? It only makes sense that you put some % of future transfer fee.

Now the court may find that Inter had cheated Sporting by terminating contract with Mario so that he can join Benfica and still pay those 30 million.

We've made some very silly and expensive deals. Joao and Kondogbia both were 40 000 000 if Im correct.

Absolutely mind blowing figures. Especially when you consider how badly they flopped.

Joao Mario was never a bad player, he just never was a 40m at that time. He was a 20-25m player max. And we got him with the expectation to lead the midfield which was a laughable request for someone who can only be used as a supplementary player.

It just wasn't meant to be. Money dictates expectations. If he was bought for 15m we wouldn't have called him a flop.

Kondogbia was a great talent but mentally he wasn't there so he wasted whatever potential he had.

Kondogbia needed more time to settle here. Unfortunately the constant change of coaches didn't help his situation at Inter and we lost him quiet easily because of that; just like Banega.

Tbh Joao Mario was great in De Boer midfield trio. But once we switched to double pivot, first with Pioli and then with Spalletti, he played as a #10 and it just wasn't working. Decent performances but we never saw the same player again. Perhaps those early 2016/17 performances were just momentum from Euro. Who knows. Another issue with Joao Mario was his attitude. No idea how he was in training but he always looked lazy on the pitch, as if he didn't give a fuck. I also remember him having issues with Pioli and even Vecchi.

As for Kondogbia, like you say i think it was a mental issue. The weight from transfer fee and duel with Milan and expectation to be our midfield leader crushed his shoulders. Mancini expected him to be the next Yaya Toure but he simply wasn't at that level. Then he had a terrible relationship with De Boer with that 30 min sub as the highlight of their relationship. Then he was a starter under Pioli and he had his best period at Inter. His performances were so good that people thought it was Gagliardini who made Kondogbia look good. But then the mental issue hit again. Even though Spalletti wanted to keep him, he chose to run away when Inter signed Valero and Vecino because he feared he would lose spot in starting lineup. That hilarious own goal in pre season didn't help either. Kondogbia just didn't have the mentality to succeed at a top club. He admitted it himself in an interview few years later.

Fun fact: Kondogbia is the reason i found out about the forum :D

Signing mentally weak players looks to be a recurrent theme for us. No idea why this is often overlooked.

And low IQ players. I lose my shit after watching several players keep making dumb decisions when they can just make a simple but more effective decision instead. They constantly overcomplicate things by these dumb decisions.
