Playoffs make sense only if they give the teams with more points a slight advantage somehow. Sadly for us, we only have ourselves to blame. We lost 2 crucial matches against title contenders.

IMHO

Dont give the trophy to anyone yet do a small league for top 4 for CL places
Low 4 for relegation

And to be fair in the same precedent wasnt the 05 title simple not awarded to anyone

The 05 was not awarded to anyone because we refused to accept it.
We also had refused to accept the 06 one but UEFA demanded that one team had to be named Champion entrant otherwise we'd lose our CL spot. So we accepted it.

Now the Champion has a special seed so it's a given that UEFA will demand that Italy names a Champions for next year's CL.

Fuck no to playoffs. I don't want this Scudetto to be given to anyone if it isn't decided by played with league format. It can be vacated and just decide euro spots + relegation teams.

Current standings is probably the best bet. Roma and Napoli might have a say in that because they lose CL but Atalanta have a game in hand. Top 3 should have a CL spot secured, no matter what.

Rugani will be fine. The mortality rate for healthy people under 30 is non-existent.

I'm curious what will happen to their CL tie now. Likely cancelled tomorrow.

You're clearly missing the point.

What is the point? He just stated said he's doing well. There is no report anyone else is infected with it.

Schedule disruptions will happen. There are ways around it. Important thing is everyone's doing well.

The point is that Rugani could and probably did make contact with people who are more susceptible to the virus... his coach who just had pneumonia and is a heavy smoker, for one.

Pretty sure this is cementing premature season ending for good.

At least FIF countdown timer made me laugh a bit.

Yeah. even if this doesnt timmediately impact the current deadline (3rd of April), the fact that a players health was risked means that it'll be political to re-start the league until we're definitely in the clear. Given when china went into lock down and hit peak cases and they're only starting to ease now, it could easily go into mid april unless we hit peak REALLY SOON

Or we can hope that global warming is true *Trump mode* and we get some really hot weather over the next 3 weeks that allegedly wears down this virus.

At this stage there are way too many unknowns and given the effects it has on people and to a lesser extent economies (or vice versa given one's position), the last thing most people are interested in is football.

But on a purely football sense, if players are quarantined, checked negative for covid and play in closed stadiums, it should still go on just to avoid all the technicalities that will be unbearable if they keep delaying this. And you could sell it as "hope" or whatever message they want to send.
I wouldn't be in favor of this though, football shouldn't be played.

Swiss health department said yesterday they expect it to last till late spring early summer and that they dont expect it to be affected much by heat.
If they re correct and due to the swiss outbreak being just days after italy i d expect late april mid mai for italy too.
Then there will be the question if there s gonna be an euro cause if there is we can kiss serie a goodbye for this season.

Also lets not forget that while china is easing wuhan is still on lockdown yes people can leave their houses but still not the region. Also some experts expect it to spread again once china goes back to normality.

UEFA sees 'no reason' to postpone Euro 2020 despite coronavirus pandemic worsening

European football’s governing body will not be making any changes to the scheduled format of a competition due to be staged across the continent

UEFA sees “no reason” to postpone or alter the current scheduling of Euro 2020 despite the ever-increasing concerns regarding coronavirus.

As things stand, a tournament due to be staged at various locations across the continent is due to get underway on June 12.

There is, however, a very serious threat that the event will have to be moved or cancelled altogether because the Covid-19 virus has now taken on global pandemic status.

Governments and sporting authorities around the world are having to take drastic action in a bid to contain the spread of the disease.

Serie A and La Liga are among the leading divisions to have brought their domestic schedules to an immediate halt.

Games in various competitions across the globe are also having to be played out behind closed doors.

UEFA is, however, adamant that there is no need for them to make any decisions regarding their flagship international occasion.

A spokesman for European football’s governing body told Goal: “There is no reason to change anything in the time schedule.

“UEFA is in contact with the relevant international and local authorities regarding the coronavirus and its development.”

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has already stated that no calls regarding this summer’s European Championship will be rushed into.

He has said: “We are dealing with it and we are confident we can deal with it.

“You don’t know how many big concerns we have: we have security concerns, political instability and one is also the virus. Let’s try to be optimistic, not think about dark scenarios – there’s time for that later.”

UEFA’s general secretary Theodore Theodoridis added at the association’s annual congress: “We do not want to speculate what will happen in three or four months' time.

“We are addressing the situation already by making contact with the World Health Organisation [WHO] and different governments as well.

“We have acknowledged the situation but we do not want to over-react. We have created a line of contact.”

Euro 2020 is intended to see 24 nations chasing down the ultimate prize, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal the current holders of a continental crown.

UEFA once again being complete idiots at least they should acknowledge that they cant be playing all over europe that should already be clear by now.

I also wonder if a possible cancelation of the EL and CL might change their minds, cause as it looks now they re only gonna be able to finish either EL and CL or play a EC. To finish all these tournaments in time seems highly unlikely.
