Now, want to ask, regarding to tactics and stuff:

What do you prefer: ¿Side or centered attacks? And why. You can't answer "balanced" or "mixed" is A or B :slick:

¿Pepsession tactic, total football or catenaccio? Pepsession is the same Total Football, but with dives and shit. :D

¿Do you agree when people say the classic No. 10 is dissappearing? Why.

¿Why do you think the teams should play with 2 100% defensive DM's? If you think so, ¿Where the attacks will begin in your opinion?

I think the side backs are becoming the most important players in football ¿Do you agree? Why.

¿Do you think Ricky Álvarez exquisite technique will be enough for a hypotetical success in Europe? Y'all might don't like him, but you should accept that he exudes class.

How will you manage a situation where a player of your team is getting old and crap, but he plays an important role in the team, like a leader, ¿Will you exclude him? Considering he might put the rest of the players against us.

Well, we might have a lot of differences and discussions around the way we see Inter's situation and football in general, but I agree with Jacquez, you're a boss poster, N4L.

Have one:

Wow. This one is loooong. Here we go.

Is Chicago Pizza and/or chicago style hot dogs as good as advertised or do they suck?

They're both good, but also very overrated. Pizza is better than the dog for sure.

It's 3am and I'm on that fuck sleep shit. Most of these questions will make no sense and I will probably forget everything tomorrow, so here we go:

1. Is Subway any good? They just opened one in my city(it's a town tbh, just trying to sound fancy). Those sandwiches look good, but it could be fake advertising. Shit looks healthy too, I'm way too unhealthy atm tbh. Live fast, die young.

Subway is a decent sandwich. I actually had one a couple days ago (Big Philly Cheesesteak). Not very healthy tbh. Advertising is very misleading as they compare their sandwiches to an entire fast food meal; i.e. their sandwich v big mac + fries + drink.

2. What do you find me:

4. Have you ever heard of AUW. If the answer is yes, then where? If it's no then fuck everybody.
I've seen it here before, yes. Never bothered to read to far into it (sorry).

5. What's your favorite album of the year? And your favorite of the last 2 decades. :work:
Music this year has been shit. So nothing this year. Favorite of the last 2 decades is a toughie....I'd say that D'Angelo "Voodoo" was my favorite for sure. But, I also really love 'Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix'....great ablum.

6. Did you enjoy the Turkey Adventures? Part 10 coming soon.
Huh?

7. Favorite movie?
Toughie...but Taxi Driver does it everytime.

8. Weed or alcohol?
Neither. Don't smoke at all and only drink socially

9. :palm: transfer of 2012? Doesn't have to be Inter-related.
Whoever signs Andy Carroll tbh....such a lame footballer

No

14. Is there a time for keeping a distance. A time to turn your eyes away.

15. Is there a time for keeping your head down? For getting on with your day.

16. What kind of music do you like?
All. Favorite is probably contemp jazz, but listen to indie, rock, r&b, rap, pop, reggae e.t.c....I have almost 50k songs dude!! And the last couple years, I've been into buying and playing old vinyl..

17. Considering that you go to all these coaching seminars, have you not thought of a career in football? be it scouting, coaching, technical or management role?

Considered it but it's too much of a risk for me to do it full time. Coaching biz is very, very, very tough. Pretty similar to trying to be a pro player. You need to be good AND have connections AND get some lucky breaks. In my travels I've met tons of very smart coaches who end up in "the system" as their full time job. Not very pretty and making chump change.

I will say though that maybe in my 40s, I'll consider opening my own youth club. I have coached teams before (u10 - u18) for different clubs and do guest coaching quite often (did one this summer actually for 1 week). But not on a full time basis.

It's honestly been mostly about learning about the game for me. Trust me when I tell you, some good coaching courses and some books (i gave vito some good recommendations) will give you a whole different perspective on the game.

18. Isn't Jae amazing?
Who is Jae?

19. Don't you just love that name? Jae… kinda sounds like yeah. I can imagine his mother going "Jae are you there?" and Jae replying with "yeah" and then she gon be like "WHY ARE YOU CALLING YOURSELF??". Those where the days. I'll let Jae take #20.

Good shit.

More questions.

Do you deal with Configuration Management in your job?
Thankfully, no :D

Were you born in the US or did you move?
Born in Trinidad. Moved to the US for college.

Any children or plans of?
No kids now. Plans are to have 1 or 2 soon.

Hector Cuper. Failure or not supported enough?
Failure

Vieri. Traitor or victim of Moratti espionage?
Traitor

If you were to have dinner with 5 people on this forum, who would it be?
Shit. Hmmmm. Vasillos, Vito, Universe, YOU, and Kato (cause i think she's hot. don't tell my wife or her bf )

Conversely, whom would you absolutely try and avoid?
Nobody tbh. It's just a forum..

Finish the sentence, browha is always FAPPING

Full cream milk or fat free?
100% full. That fat free shit tastes like fucking water. YUK!

Juve or Milan?
Or death? I chose death.. No really, Milan. Juve are 100% pure scum

Barca or Real?
Depends. I hate barca now but used to like them before. Real now but I used to hate them before.

New York or Los Angeles?
Hate both, but LA is definitely worse.

Basketball or NFL?
NFL. Basketball is real pansy shit these days

When are you taking your lanky self down to Australia for holiday? We offer nothing that you haven't seen in the Caribbean or US. Well we have Fitzy.
Don't know. 2 week vaca across europe is on the cards for next year. Maybe 2014? Idk.

Now, want to ask, regarding to tactics and stuff:

What do you prefer: ¿Side or centered attacks? And why. You can't answer "balanced" or "mixed" is A or B :slick:

Side attacks because by nature, the defense tries to make the field compact, so by attacking down the sides, you force the defense to be disorganized and non-compact.

¿Pepsession tactic, total football or catenaccio? Pepsession is the same Total Football, but with dives and shit. :D
None. Pepsession and total football is too risky for me on defense. Catenaccio is too conservative. I like tactics to be fluid depending on the situation of the game.

¿Do you agree when people say the classic No. 10 is dissappearing? Why.

Yes. Because in today's football where sports medicine has improved the fitness level of players, you simply can't have a player, IN ADDITION TO the forward(s), who doesn't defend. Also, players are much more hybrid now and can play the offensive role of a "10" while also playing the defensive role of a CM (think Iniesta). If I can have iniesta, why would I need riquelme?

¿Why do you think the teams should play with 2 100% defensive DM's? If you think so, ¿Where the attacks will begin in your opinion?

If it were up to me, I would not play with 2 DMs. But, if I were to play with 2 DMs, it would be to secure the middle of the field and play zonal defense when the opponent attacks. It is risky if the opponent is strong on the flanks, but if they are not, then it is a fair strategy and can be quite effective. As for my own attack, it will begin with a ball from a DM to the winger (and simultaneously, the wing back runs forward to support/overlap).

I think the side backs are becoming the most important players in football ¿Do you agree? Why.

I wouldn't say most important but they're definitely very critical. In this era where players are faster and thus, on defense, can shift their pressure-cover-balance quicker, when you are attacking, you need that extra player to create a 2v1 situation (i.e. side back overlaps the winger) which can lead to penetrating the defense. This is a fundamental philosophy of spanish and german football. The creative player is still the most important player. This is why teams like Japan, Korea, USA e.t.c. are still finding it tough in today's game. You can coach fitness & tactics but at the highest level, things kinda even out and you need those special players.

¿Do you think Ricky Álvarez exquisite technique will be enough for a hypotetical success in Europe? Y'all might don't like him, but you should accept that he exudes class.

I don't think he has exquisite technique at all. It is decent. Speed of play is now the most important thing for success in today's football and I haven't seen it in him. He can be a capable/competent player, but I don't think he can play at the highest levels against the best players. At that level (think Real, Barca, Bayern), the game is just too fast for him.

How will you manage a situation where a player of your team is getting old and crap, but he plays an important role in the team, like a leader, ¿Will you exclude him? Considering he might put the rest of the players against us.

Kind of a vague question because it depends on too many factors that will affect how the situation is managed. Money, coach, e.t.c.

Well, we might have a lot of differences and discussions around the way we see Inter's situation and football in general, but I agree with Jacquez, you're a boss poster, N4L.

We're all here to discuss our ideas. Differences in opinions are great for learning and I've learned a lot on this forum from many users with different opinions. Allows me to keep thinking critically, so thanks to all on this forum.

Which college did you attend when you moved to the USA?
University of South Carolina - BS
University of Illinois - MS

Since you have coached...

1.How will you handle an irate parent questioning a player's playing time?
Happens all the time. The answer depends on the team/club. Some teams, there is a philosophy of all players get equal time. Some say all players should get some time. Some, mostly the advanced programs, say playing time is dependent on performance/the coach. So, the most important thing is to recognize the philosophy of the club first. My first gig was at a recreational team, thus had a rule about giving players equal time. I was unaware and a little wet behind the ears and subbed out one kid very often. His parent actually timed how much minutes his son was getting and sent me a very long, detailed email. After that, I learned my lesson .

2.If a player openly badmouths your coaching decisions, how will you handle the situation?
Happened to me twice. One was a U15 Girls team and the other a U18 Boys team. In the girls case, I had a rotation policy of ensuring players played across all positions. This kid didn't want to go play defense during a game. She sat that game and the next game out. Then I had a discussion with her parents (yuk), the player, and then the team. In the boy's case, he didn't want to play as a winger . This was a team I was only responsible for short term (1 season ~ 3.5 months). Similarly, he sat out that game and didn't play another one for the season (4 games).

3.Give us an example of a success you've had in coaching.
Most gratifying for me was that two of the boys i coached from u16-18 got a football scholarships to go ncaa div 1 universities and they both said i was to thank for that :`(

4.Any game situation you can think of
Most fun was when I did a coaching course in Brazil. During the evaluation phase, they pit coaches against coaches and give you a team. The teams given were very, very technically skilled U17 boys. They tell you (secretly) what formation & tactic to play. They tell the other coach a different (or similar) formation & tactic. The purpose is to make in-game adjustments in a 45 minute half.

Very intriguing to say the least. I was given a 4-4-2 brazilian box. Opponent was given a 4-4-2 diamond. Essentially, I failed to make the correct adjustments on defense in that I didn't adjust to stopping the critical starting point (DM) or end point (AM) of their attack. Especially the starting point. I lost 2-0 in that half. Very smart opposing coach as he was able to adjust his team to nullify my attack on the wings. Great learning experience.

5.How does a team with your coachin plays?formation and stuff.
Depends on the players I have. My U16 Boys team from about 3-4 years back is probably the closest i've gotten to playing how I want to play, simply because I had them for 4 seasons. We started off as 4-4-2 diamond (which is what they played before me). Which I then slowly changed to a 4-3-3 (or 4-1-2-3) by spreading the 2 forwards and advancing the AM. That made the conversion easier. On offense, kept it simply and we worked exclusively on creating 2v1 situations via the overlap. On defense, we did 2 things; press only when the opponent brought the ball into our half and always tried to make the opponent go wide.

Most of the teams I've coached however, I've simply played whatever they played the year before. With these kids, it's much more about them working on the technical side of the game
.

I must say this is by far my favorite interview. Never knew how knowledgable N4L was. LOVED reading your responses to the footballing questions :)

Great answers and technical knowledge along with witty display of humor.

Your insight on football is definitely appreciated bud

Given the current situation of the club I'd love to see your thoughts on how we should play our current team. Who you would like to see transferred to the club in the last 2 weeks and what kind of role you expect out of them??

Here's to a brilliant FIF member and one with amazing intelligence of the sport we all love cheers bud!
