I'm thinking more and more that Lautaro will be the main sale this summer. The contract talks have been dragging on forever and there's only so many times both club and player announcing there is a great will to continue before it begins to ring hollow. Reports are that he is seeking 10m euros + and there is quite a distance between this and what Inter could realistically pay him in good conscience.
He has 2 years left on his current deal so unless a deal can be finalised in the next month or so, sell him when they can still get top price for him.

I hope we learned our lesson after Skriniar's case, and do not hold too long on this extension. If the distance remains too far, just sell him.
He has a really good season and he is still in very good football age. We can get good money.

Skriniar was one of the few mistakes that Marotta has made. Knocking back something like 50m euros for a player with a year left on his deal was crazy, especially for a player who brought a lot to the team but was an uncomfortable fit in the position he was played in. The financial situation dictates that we have to be brutally pragmatic and if a player thinks he is worth more than we can pay him, fine, let him leave as long as it's for a deal that's beneficent for us. It also helps to have a squad that's as settled as possible and not pining for bigger and better elsewhere.

While in the past the thought of losing an iconic player would have brought dread at how they would arse up the recruitment to replace him, these days we can be more confident that would use the money well.

I think Dumfries is a very different situation than Skriniar. One we should have gotten 2.5x more money plus we didnt think we could replace within our budget.

the other... I dont even feel is a starter or at least a super clear one. if we can't sign someone this summer or get a 20m+ offer just keep him and let him leave for free next season he shouldn't be paid as much as DiMarco or more which is fking insane.

Lautaro is a club captain who just lead his team to Scudetto to get the second star in the derby. Lautaro is a club legend compared to what Skriniar was at the time. Also, his contract ends in 2026, not 2025. Situation is very different to Lautaro.

The situation is identical - both players with a considerable market value who are / were stalling on renewing their contracts. That Lautaro is club captain is irrelevant: no other player can be allowed to run down his contract and leave for free.

How can you know that the players are stalling and not the club?

It's not so different. If Lautaro does not sign and keeps asking for 10+mln, next season he will have only one year remaining of his contract, and therefore the offers won't be same as what we can get now.
As I said,.I don't mind him staying on 10+mln, but if those money are connected to some achievements.
If the club see that he doesn't want Inter conditions and he does not want to find a middle ground, now is the best moment to sell.

But we are not anywhere close to this situation.

My guess is Dumfries + Carboni + Satriano + Oristanio + any plusvalenza fodder in our academy that any club is interested in
