I've voted Barella, but I'll be happy if it goes to Skri also. For me the C and VC should be between them only and any variation is acceptable.

Hate digging up old threads but there may be a chance that the next captaincy is not completely decided yet. Annoyingly, I can't find the post now but I saw a translation from a quick interview Marotta apparently gave. He was asked about Skriniar becoming the next captain, and naturally gave a diplomatic answer, that Skriniar is a leader but that Handanovic is our captain etc.

Personally I think they'll give it to Barella, and with Onana probably playing a lot of games next season, I expect Barella to gradually take over the armband starting with games where Handanovic starts on the bench. I'm pretty sure they offered the armband to Barella as part of contract negotiations to incentivize him. It'd be a very Marotta thing to give it to Barella as a young, but-not-too-young Italian midfielder who is a mainstay in the national team as well.

Personally I'd prefer Skriniar as Barella can be extremely petulant on the pitch at times. But truth be told I don't think we have any really excellent candidates. IMO goes to show the lack of big personalities in the squad.

I’m honestly starting to come to the opinion it should be Brozovic, at least for the interim. He’s the most senior core player in the squad and is already more or less in charge of dictating the play. He’s not an ideal candidate by any means but I believe he’s now mature enough to keep his head down and do what he needs to (assuming he renews of course).

I don't understant what being Italian has to do with captaincy.We are not Juve ffs.Zanetti was not Italian.Barella has shown nothing this season to suggest he should be captain.Brozovic has earned it by being the leader of our team on the pitch.Same goes for Skriniar i guess but seniority and the importance that Brozo's play has should mean he gets it.Take out Epic Brozo and this team falls apart.

Importance of play isn't the key quality of a captain. It's about leadership, mentality, and your social standing in the group. You want to be the person that people look to for rallying strength in hard time.

Can't believe I'm writing this as I've never been his biggest fan until this season, but Perisic has been a leader this season both in terms of gob and leading by example, motivating others, etc.

I love Brozo but those frustrated passes he does where he kicks the ball in an exaggerated motion while simultaneously shrugging his shoulders is the most passive aggressive bitch move. And at this point its second nature to him too. I want us to lock him down with an extension contract asap but he is no captain material.

Skriniar 100%. I will be greatly upset if it goes to Barella.

I don't see Broz and Skiniar want to leave themselves, if it were to happen, it is almost certain they are being forced out.

Broz needs to sign a new contract and doesn’t seem Captain material.

Captain for next season is Barella or Skiniar. I hope Skiniar stays and we have two too young defenders for the next 6-7 seasons
