Let's keep this thread free of ranting about Marotta.

SwissRamble breakdown looks like we're not gonna have a spending spree in the summer. Or we have to sell someone big again.

Those Barella and Lautaro figures will be bigger next season, Skriniar figure will be higher too, probably. And if Brozovic stays, his figure will almost double.

If Brozovic doesn't re-sign, it's just fine. It means he went for higher money and that's fine, we can't go extra mile for any of these guys (including Dybala).
Losing Brozovic on a free is far from fine. It's a fucking disaster for a club like ours that has very limited funds. We can't afford losing our best players on a free ala Milan. No matter what happens with Brozovic it should be a lesson for the future, especially with De Vrij being in a similar situation. We can't afford letting negotiations drag on till the last moment when you either need to overpay or accept losing an important player of the squad without getting a fee. It needs to be sorted before player entering the final year of his contract.

If turning into a selling club is the only way forward in our current situation then we need to learn doing it properly. Losing players on a free can't be an option.

Hence why Marotta is relevant. He's the key strategist here. And Zhang needs to get his ass in Europe and stop sending his kid. We deserve to be treated with respect, not be an intern's project!

Hire someone who can lead the club and be present. Appoint freaking Materazzi or Toldo for all I care, just someone who's not going to have to delay every single decision.

It is what it is. We got Brozovic to play for that low salary this season and with his help we possibly win our second Scudetto in a row. There's value in that too (service Brozovic provided for this season with cheaper salary).

After all, we are in this racket to win titles.

If Brozovic asks more than what we can pay and he leaves, can't be mad about it if we win the Scudetto with him. If we sold him last summer and replaced him probably we wouldn't be in this position now in the standings we are now.

We did initiate the contract extension long long ago. More than a year iirc. It was Brozovic who delayed it to the last minutes, to wait for a better salary after being free. What should we have done differently?

If Brozo will go to Barca he is basically a Kessie-bis, with less noise.

We started talks with Brozovic for an extension only last summer, less than a year before the end of his contract. It wasn't entirely management fault though.

First Conte wasn't entirely convinced by Brozovic and they were offering him in swap deals so they didn't even know if they want to extend his contract. Then we had Suning financial problems that had the club in limbo for almost 6 months and management couldn't plan anything for the future. When Brozovic started the season with an expiring contract it was obvious we will either give in to his demands or we will lose him on a free. We started talks late, we let this drag on and we're at a point where Brozovic can agree a pre contract with another club and there's still nothing official.

This can't be repeated again. When you leave it this late you leave all the negotiatiing power to the agents. The latest date to start extension talks needs to be two years before the end of the contract, like we did with Bastoni, Barella and Lautaro. If there's still no progress one year later, then you give an ultimatum to the player. Either you sign an extension or you bring an offer to leave immediately and the club already starts planning for the replacement.

We have tried to extend his contract way longer before last summer. Here were links back 2020:

To be more accurate, Brozovic always asked too much what he was worth (6m net, while we were offering 3.5m). At that time he didn't have Scudetto(s) under his belt. Couldn't blame the management for not satisfying that demand.

Standard and Poor's gave a B rating to our bond. Sweet.

B means JUNK. In capitals.

It's 1 tier below the Fitch one and 2 tiers further down you're in bankruptcy territory

Fortunately until the Premiership has 20 CL spots, we will always have more allure than Newcastle/etc. Newcastle to the CL will be a 3 year plan minimum imho and realistically 5+

Famous last words before the premier league just becomes the super league.

Probably means a couple of Inter's starters will be on the selling block this summer.
i dont understand these terms of selling more starter players, we will release ten players soon in June (current 26-10=16), if we keep selling more players after that, how many players should we have? 11-13 players isnt ideal for next season. we should have minimum 22 players for the squad, not 11-13 players!

Lets take the current squad, we're 24 I think right now? Add Sensi, 25.

Vecino, Vidal, Kolarov, Sanchez, Perisic, Radu, Caicedo, Dambrosio out

That takes us to 17

Add Onana, Frattesi, Scamacca, 20.

2-3 more players (e.g. one of Ginter/Luiz Felipe, for arguments sake lets say one of Kessie/Dybala, Cambiaso), bring back Zinho, and Pinamonti/a replacement for him. That'll take us to 23-24.

The problem isn't the quantity. You can easily reach a squad of 22-23 players either with players returning from loan or with below average players who could be available at a low cost. The elephant in the room is the quality and if the club can remain competitive in the current financial situation.
