Giacinto Facche
Facchetti rumors??? :undecide:

Anywhoooo I demand we propose a new contract for Figo :p I mean five minutes in and he creates quite a sublime move that was somewhat ruined with Stankovic’s weak header…I find it quite funny that some seem to think this was the first time Figo showed his true form against a tough opposition, a certain match with Juve comes to mind (But that belongs in the Figo thread) anyhow I think we learnt a lot today…

The players aren’t fit!!! (They couldn't even run during extra time!!! :stress:) and Roma scored with so much ease it was too embarrassing! It took only twelve minutes and Roma are one goal ahead thanks to some horrendous goal keeping, well I’m not sure who to blame Zanetti or Toldone, they both went to the ball and missed, total lack of communication. Six minutes later another influential Mancini + Totti counter attack and Toldone makes a super save from Aquilani, Roma by then were showing early intentions of defending deep and counter attacking with ferocity. I lost count of how many times we were spread open… Grosso was losing the ball quite frequently, his only redeeming feature was his wing play and crossing! Matrix and Samuel showed no communication at all, J. Zanetti was too deep for my liking and Toldone was looking quite edgy…Thankfully both Figo and Vieria were looking solid, but that counts for nothing when you have both Totti and Mancini bombarding you.

Just when I was growing frustrated with our defending, the lively Totti rapes our defence and Aquilani scores…Twice, something isn’t right, we’re missing a middle man to provide all the necessary ammo for our strikers!! Talking of which both Adriano and Ibra were hopeless, especially when you see the attacking venom that was oozing from Totti and Mancini (I’m so jelous! :boxing: ) At least we were winning the midfield battle (I might be jumping the gun here, BUT Vieira is shaping up to be quite a surprise! He was phenomenal right from the start, hey his Juve career was quite crap) 3-0 score was very flattering for Roma, especially when you consider they only had about 4 shots on target and 3 went in…Something wasn’t right, we hardly had any effort on goal! Worst of all, both Adriano and Ibra were no where near coming close to scoring or even shooting on target! Just when it looked like turning sour a splendid header from the Frenchman and we’ve got a fighting chance! 3-1

The second half started just like the previous, with us attacking and Roma waiting for a break. The introduction of Crespo must have scared Spalletti, he takes off the dazzling Totti for Mido and Aqualani is sacrificed for Tonetto, while Cassetti comes on for Taddei...Bad idea (I can't tell you how happy I was!!!) the early substitutions were fatal (Lucky for us!!) more than ever since everything was going so excellent for Roma. Super Maicon was introduced moments later, and we’re playing what seems to be a 4-3-1-2 formation, with Figo just behind the front men…You would think this would leave us vulnerable at the wings, but both ilcapitano and Maicon were shredding the Roma backline with ease!

Crespo showed us what he’s all about with another superb header, 3-2 and the San Siro erupts! Moments later a horrible miss hit shot from Ibra ends up in the path of Vieira (Who was accompanied by Maicon of all people) to tap in the equaliser! Good stuff! It could have been a lot sweeter had Ibra converted a great chance Crespo single handedly created on the 89th minute but disappointingly he drills it wide…Again! So its Extra time and we continue the onslaught on Roma, moments later a free kick is awarded which “Man of the Match” Figo scores sublimely. Talking of which Ibra was fundamental in three of the goals, winning two free kicks one resulting in a header by Vieira and of course Figo’s beauty! Not to mention the miss-hit shot which resulted in Vieira’s second…The guy really needs to work on his finishing, nice movements off the ball though & Adraino really needs to find his form, from what I’ve seen Crespo deserves a place in the starting eleven…So does Maicon!!!! Forza Inter! :interscarf: I'm feeling tired time to sleep, too much excitement for one day

Javier Zanetti,
As long as Adriano plays for this team we will never win anything, we got lucky this time with heart and perserverance, and we won when he wasn't on the field. How many times have I said he needs to go, and he needs to go now. He is worthless.

Eh come on man, why are you being so hard on Adriano? Give him one more season to prove his worth. You have to remember that all players have slumps in their career. Give hima chance and enjoy this victory instead.;)

I just can't believe a lot of you think that ibra is not that good of a player. Ok maybe he has some attitude problem but you can't question his skills and his effectiveness up front. I mean today he was playing as if he's playing against 10 year old kids. this guy can basically do anything with the ball. with his superb skills, he can creat a lot of space which leads to a lot of scoring chances. im glad that oba is gone. i like him but u just cant compare with with ibra. oba used to kill me most of the times. that guy is half man half liability. like mancini said, his feet are quicker than his brains. plus his football IQ is ZERO. in my opinion, ibra is a huge pick-up for this club and time will prove to you.

I say we have to give Adriano a chance 1, 2 times in the formation we played when Maicon came on the field. If he will play even then very bad, then it's a jungle right. Stronger survives, and that is Crespo.

Ibra was a little nervous from what I've seen playing first at Meazza (I hope he will find himself quick before 85 000 crowd at Derby :p ) and he was playing really bad, like everybody in first half(except Figo).

But when we changed to 4-3-1-2 he get more space on the wings, and he showed some great skills. He still lacks form, and finishing, but his creativity and passing will be like gold to our team.

For me Mancio should go to Adriano and tell him: "You get ball, shot, or pass it along, DON'T DRIBBLE!!! "

It is what Ibra is now in the team. Ibra will dribble, will go back for the ball. Adri should act like a last man striker. He should strike, and that's all he should do. To me it's his problem.

Materazzi also dedicates the win to Giacinto. This does not smell good at all! :(

Good win from the boys, greatt fighting spirit and courage.

First of all, to the people who rather than celebrating the win are having a go @ Adriano, go fark yourselves, first match of the season, winning this does not mean sh1t all really, but I'm happy because we won it in a manner which is going to hurt Roma and give a scare to Milan.

This game proved how vital Cordoba still is to the team, you need pace and a Samuel & Materazzi partnership will not work, don't ever play them again toghether, if Cordoba is suspended this season in matches (which is certain) put Burdisso with one of Samuel/Materazzi......this is worse than Pizarro & Veron.
I'm not worried about Grosso's performance, he was the latest to arrive and after the summer he had, he's expected to be in poor form, I'm just annoyed that Maxwell wasn't called up and played left back.
Stankovic is not a winger, not a left sided one thats for sure, I thought Mancini (Lazio days) of all would know this, but he constantly plays him there, for gods sake put Figo there or Solari.

Adriano, decent performance, good on the bloke for trying. Ibra needs to the basics at a new club first then the extravagent moves, did very well but I just hope he scored that chance. Crespo, honestly, he's gonna stick it up so many people this season who said that he was finished.

I'm not happy too, that we don't see him, but it's because he still very short after injury, and he has to do all the pre - season work, before he will play.

I'am afraid Maxwell is not 100% still fit, it's not normal see JZ on the left.
I forget to say the great news about see Solari instead of Cesar (on da bench......) i hope all continue like this, or Cesar gets injured, or Cesar goes to Zaragoza....

Does it matter was it a bad shot or not!? No it doesen't.

And the second assist was the FK earned by him to Figo.

Stop being riduculous. Why are you complaining about Ibra's performance as such when Adriano's performance was nugatory through the 60 minutes? Ibra's miss kicks are really awful, but atleast he gets involved in the play and did actually create something for the team. Adriano? Pffft...

There's too much to say about this game, but a great deal of my emotions have already been put into words by many an Interista on this board.

I would just like to add that our 2nd half performance was truly amazing. Players like Figo, Ibrahimovic, Vieira, and Maicon were outstanding; it would take a lot to begrudge them the applause they deserve for their efforts in drawing us level, and then securing the win.

I'm just enjoying the win, for now. Mancini's Inter is learning how to entertain a crowd. :)

Ciao,
Tim
