I am in full confidence now and I would be shocked if we fail to win! We played with like 7 guys under 20 against Reggina, they played with like 7 guys over thirty against Catania! We won they lost! <20 > 30<

Big game obviously. I think that the players are going to really want this, and I predict a nice performance, but not necisarily a win.

That was a Coppa Game and does not reflect actual team on sunday. Again, I am sure that we are the favorite and have the upper hand, we just need to deliver it. It will still be a hard match IMO

All derbies are hard games, regardless of old or how shite the competition is. :P

Anyways, just like last Derby della Maduninna, we have quite a few injuries. Milan failed to capitalize on our injuries last season and dare I say it, we seem even stronger and have more depth this season. It'll be interesting to see what Mancio does with the formation. If I had to take a stab at it, it'd be:

JC
Maicon Cordoba Samuel Maxwell
JZ Cambiasso Chivu Cesar
Cruz Ibra

Regardless of who we uses and how he uses them, Forza Inter and non mollare mai! :interscarf:

------------JC-------------
Maicon--Cafe--Wall--Maxwell
---JZ-----Chivu----Cuchu---
---Ibra----Cruz----Suazo----

looks like the most likely formation.

We'll be raped in Midfield if we play this formation cause it ain't kind of a 4-5-1 that we used against Roma, instead its a simple 4-3-3.

Matrix could get some time in the Derby seeing that Samuel has already played twice in this week but don't think Cordoba would be benched, he's just irreplaceable :P .

A question, anyone opting for this formation??

------------------JC--------------------
--------Cafe----Matrix----Samuel-------
--Maicon-------------------------Max--

---------JZ-----Chivu-----Cuchu-------

----------------Ibra-------------------
---------------Suazo------------------

this could happen.

Matrix, Burdisso, Solari and Cesar played in Coppa Italia, so I don't think that they'll start this game.

We're all 100% sure that JC, Maicon, Cordoba, Samuel, Chivu, Zanetti, Zlatan and Cambiasso will start on Sunday.

3 players left. LB, second (or third) striker, and a midfielder (or not).

IMO, Maxwell will start for sure. He didn't play any minute against Reggina. This means: Chivu in the midfield and Max on the left side.

Ofcourse, but the other post was not about possible line-ups. It was rather about general morale in a team, and whoever plays does well.

Obviously, this describes our team, not the suckers on the other side of Milano :P

Actually it was 4-3-2-1, not 4-5-1.

It could happen.

But like M.Adnan said, if Matrix wouldn't play on wednesday it would be more likely.

ps. Also Ibra will never play behind the striker.

+ going with the flow with what M.Adnan said that is quite logical, either Solari nor Cesar should start against Milan. That leaves only Javier as a pottential winger(there is still maxwell, but I doubt Chivu will play as left back). So.... little possibility over 4-4-2, and that leaves us with:

- 4-3-1-2 with Jimenez
- 4-3-3 with Ibra, Cruz and Suazo up front.

Milan derby a sell-out
Friday, 21 December 2007 09:15:58
[FOTO Friday, 21 December 2007 09:15:58]

MILAN - Sunday's Milan derby is the nearest ever to Christmas. It will also be a sell-out match, with an expected crowd of 83,500.

The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza's ticket offices will therefore remain closed on matchday. It will not be possible to make name changes to tickets or season tickets at the stadium. Any name changes should be made online before 11:00.

The stadium's gates will open at 12:00, three hours before kick-off.

F.C. Internazionale invites derby ticket holders to arrive at the stadium well in advance, in order to avoid long queues. Fans should present a valid ID document along with their match ticket/season ticket on entering the stadium.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Great Derby match expected. A sell out crowd and letz prove something in front of them =)

I meant that Ibra would just circle around Suazo creating everything :D while Suazo keeps on reminding Nesta about Oba Oba :P. Matrix was lacking match fitness so playing against Reggina wasn't bad enough and if Samuel can play thrice in the same week, why can't Matrix play twice?

Jimenez as the "1" in our midfield in such a big game looks unlikely so the formation and lineup left should be:

--------------JC---------------
-Maicon---Cafe-Samuel----Max-

----JZ----Chivu--Cuchu---Cesar

---------Suazo/Cruz-Ibra-------

Matrix decision is totally upto Mancio.

Because of the injury. He still isn't fit to play every 3, 4 days or so. I'm 90% sure he won't play with Milan.

As for Ibra behind the strikers... that I'm sure will never, never happens. Unless we will have 90% of our offensive players injured. Ibra is a striker, and playing him behind the strikers would be a big waste.

Mancini knows that well. He was asked during pre match(don't remember which though) conference if he could play Ibra behind the strikers some time. He said simple: no.

And besides that... Ibra never played like that so I would be really, REALLY suprised if he would play there.

As for formation... that's a big question mark for me. If Jimenez is able to play I would go for 4-3-1-2 obviously.

But If not, I wouldn't be so suprised if we would play with 3 strikers up front.

Why? The 2 games we played with 3 up front we didn't have absolutely essential player there... Zlatan. Put him there, and I guarantee he and 2 outher up fron would put Milan defense into shreds.

4-4-2, if some of you know me, can figure out what is my opinion of us playing that :P

the game im referring to is the roma game at the olimpico

mancini decided to float ibra and cesar back to pressure roma's midfielders, of which they basically play with 5 + totti

not saying that ibra is exactly behind the strikers, just watch to see mancini try to hustle milan's midfield the same way he did with roma

im going to take a stab at mancini's lineup

-----------------------------JC--------------------------------
maicon---------cordoba-------------samuel----------------chivu
-----------zanetti--------cambiasso---------burdisso-----------
----------------------------cesar------------------------------
------------------cruz----------------ibra-----------------------

important points...

chivu at LB:
1. to give stability to the left side of our defense
2. as he goes forward, he effectively switches positions with burdisso, much the same way zanetti would cover for maicon in the event maicon joins the attack
3. chivu + burdisso on left and zanetti + maicon on right, should limit kaka's influence on the game

4-man midfield vs 5-man midfield:
1. mancini should emphasise to ibra and cruz to put pressure on the milan midfield
2. our midfield is essentially a 5-man midfield anyway, the way ibra/cruz decide to bring the ball forward through the middle of the park and playing a lot of 1-2's with each other and cesar
3. not necessarily the most effective, but thats how inter have been playing the past month

suazo from the bench:
1. to be introduced in the 2nd half, to provide pace hopefully to a tiring milan defense

1-4 right ? I'm pretty sure it was 4-3-2-1 with Figo and Cesar on the advanced positions.

+, we played with Roma away, while here we're playing at home :) I think we should dictade terms here.

Neverless, whatever the formation we played, we won't play it again.

well, the main point is, mancini decided to hustle the roma midfield into mistakes

the idea is still the same, its just ibra or cruz has been floating back to help defend

I am not sure why soo many are relaxed about Chivu in midfield..I mean he only played there a couple of times and against inferior sides.I didnt see him doing too well there and dont expect him to do greatly against Milan..

PLease someone prove me wrong..

Very true. That's why I lean towards 4-3-3 as likely formation, although seeing Jimenez training with the squad again says otherwise.
