I didn't watch the match. Was our penalty so scandalous? Because #MarottaLeague is trending again
No.

At first it actually looked a bit weak, but when you realized in a replay that the defender was holding Thuram with both hands, almost like hanging on to his body, you cannot not call it. VAR check was done quickly.

Correct, but it doesnt mean its a *GREAT* start when we've dropped points already.

We should feel regret about that. We've lost 2 scudetti in the last 6 years because of 1 draw. [OK this is slightly dramatised for when Juve won it and we were 1 point behind, because they won it with 2 games to spare, but you get the point (no pun intended)]

It's unlikely to happen again this year, but early momentum is very important.
That is overdramatizing everything to the max.

Points now are worth the same as in the end, but whenever you can control your future, worry less.

If I wanted to provoke, I'd say regretting something happening the past is for pussies and losers, winners forget what happened week ago. They give max concentration to what they can affect, which is the next game. Yes, this falls to the team's and coach's territory (as fans cannot affect the games :D, except if you really attend the games), but sometimes it's better for the fans aswell to not dwell on shit what happened in the past.

Yes, not GREAT start if you drop points against Genoa away, but we did that last season too. You can find neutral/positive stance on that draw.

I also didnt call it a disaster....

Im just saying, calling it a great start is stupid.

Im pretty sure winners spend all of their time going over their losses to learn from their failures ;-),

I mean hell, that was peak Benitez/Mourinho, micro-analysing every mistake, even in a 6-1 win

and, tbf, Mourinho who was probably the most "winner" coach in our history, IMHO, would have been fucking raging after that draw :D we all know it

but lets park the discussion there.

See the problem with you and your kind is that you cherry pick bad passes here and there and build a narrative that he is too old and does not deserve a starting spot.
So, every fucking week you try to build on that.
No, no, no cherry picking. I've been saying this for the whole summer. Mkhitaryan could still be a beast for us, but in short spurts instead of 90 minutes. We finally have a player that can be his successor and I fully endorse this season to be the season when he becomes a bench option for us and Zielinski takes over Barella's spot while Barella shifts to the left to play instead of Mkhitaryan.

You're right. Mkhitaryan isn't as useful as he was when he first joined Inter. Obviously the stamina is still there, but he's quickly transforming into a problem in the attacking phase. It's not all about goals, either, despite that being the most obvious problem.
You are hater too. write petition to his couch.

It just doesn't feel like it makes sense when you sub two of the three midfielders and the one who plays the entire 90 is Mkhitaryan. It's not criticizing or insulting Mkhi to suggest the 35 year old (36 in January) should be given more time off his feet, especially if he's central to Inzaghi's plans later in the season and we need him to not be dead on his feet when that time arrives.

Also, if we're really talking "great" start, just do some math...4 pts / 2 games = 2 pts per game, 2 * 38 = 76 pts...76 points will never win the league. Not that pace matters much in the first two games anyway, so that's a bit whatever to me, but there's a reason why the thread Cafe maintains has a baseline of 86 points...that's the pace we'll need to maintain if he have Scudetto expectations this season. (It's not lost on me that it would be impossible to have an ~86 point pace after two games, that's all a bit beside the point.)

2 goals and 8 assists last year. Really not effective to the offence.

He is a closer, that's why Inzaghi trust him.

I'm afraid Inzaghi is pulling a conte with gagliardini. However, Mikhy can actually play so it's not that bad. I sure hope Zielinski is fit soon as I don't see Mikhy surviving long given his first 2 games. He looks pretty dead tbh

Once again, you're failing to see the point. Mkhitaryan scored two goals in September last season. From February 1, 2024 until the end of the season he had two assists. His attacking play fell off later in the season, probably because we overuse him so much. Meaning, he hasn't "statistically" provided solid offensive contributions in five months of league play.

Anyone watching him can see this with the eye test. The guy can't shoot anymore.

No one is saying he's useless. No one is a "hater."

He had a strong start to the season and maintained good form through the middle part. End of the season his form definitely dropped.

Also, let’s keep in mind his 2 goals last season were in match day 4.

its not crazy some 35 year old isnt one of the worlds best midfielders anymore. I know thats xontroversial.

he's the FIRST player in our central midfield we'd replace if we had the budget..

thats like saying you prefer a handjob over a blowjob

also, consideirng his career high was 29 goals in one season, DOUBT

the thing that is really stupid about this discussion is that, basically, everyone here does like mkhitaryian, its just that at 35 years old he's not the player he once was, and we need to be thinking about how to replace him.

doubting what? He played advanced mid that year in 4-1-4-1. here he plays defensive oriented mid in 3-5-2.

I'll give you bold prediction. Frattesi won't be able to replace Miki and Zielinski at best will split the games with him.

Im saying if we had the budget to replace him properly, he'd be the first out of the team amongst Hakan/Barella/Mkhi.
