We're hardly going to be alone here, but with this squad physically falling apart through weight of demanding fixtures in early March, can you imagine what sort of shape they're going to be in for this Club World Cup in June? Add in the fixtures to play and either the crushing disappointment if we win nothing or the fading euphoria if we do, that will be a level of emotional fatigue on top of the physical one.

It's fortunate this competition ties in with our anticipated reboot as it would be challenging to think of this group dragging themselves through another season after this one and hardly any time off to recuperate.

The purported starting lineup looks good enough to advance. I know my Inter, they'll go down early and we'll be sweating bullets and cursing until the 82min to tie it then scored another soon afterwards. Scary professionalism on tap for today. Forza Inter.

One of the few positive surprises in recent weeks has been Josep Martinez coming in and looking like he belongs in this team. It would be nice to have a couple more surprises to lift our prospects for the rest of the season, like Frattesi and Taremi showing some sort of match-changing form.

Btw doesn't Uefa have any say in domestic leagues postponing games for their clubs at request so they're rested for a CL game? It's an obvious advantage for the club getting their league game postponed.
No seperate competitions. UEFA has no say over domestic leagues. Same as they didn't stop us playing on Fridays a few seasons ago to have more days to prepare. Blame our league for having too many teams so we don't have the scheduling flexibility.

I really don't understand why taremi get to start, the guy can't do nothing useful, arna at least can score and he in good form...
Hopefully arna will start eventually..

Devil's advocate, regarding player's motivation: they are doing a very fun job and getting paid extremely well, they are usually well respected and taken care of. It's a very challenging life, but crazy rewarding. The current schedule is terrible, but mainly because the quality of football is taking a hit.

Anyway, the lineup is still well suited for Inzaghi's football, everyone is playing the role they are supposed to.

Excited for the game, hope we all are. Let's finish the job with minimal fuss, make early subs if result is favourable.

Forza Inter.

Looks decent on paper

But don't underestimate Feyenoord. This could end up like the Benfica series the other time.

Don't hold your breath. Frattesi can be a good player, just not under Inzaghi.
