Let's also not forget Dumfries complete inability to make a correct offensive decision today. Could have actually won 4/5-0. As it is, it's still a really good 3 points.

Bastoni-Pavard should be illegal by the way. Once Benji gains confidence in the attacking mechanisms of the team, we'll be even more impressive in possession.
Denzel at least assisted

Guys, who assisted and preassisted Thuram on his goal?
giphy.gif

Denzel.

Also kudos to Asllani, did great when he came in!
You mean those 2 elbows that luckily only resulted in 1 yellow? 🤭

No one metions how well we handle Di Maria todat? Especially Hakan, the second half is like no ball to Di Maria
Di Maria lost his acceleration, is a shadow of his former self.

Respect for Trubin - MotM.

Trubin was good but our shots could have been better and we didn't need to suffer to the end.
This is the best and most succinct summary of the game.

Sure, Trubin had a good game but you can make any goalkeeper look good if you just keep shooting straight at him. Let's not act like Trubin was flying from post to post making acrobatic diving saves.

I appreciate Lautaro's effort tremendously but what separates him from better finishers is simply his ability to accurately aim the ball into the space where the goalkeeper is not. Overwhelmingly Lautaro tends to shoot very centrally. Even when he does score there's so often a sense of him just squeezing the ball through the keeper's saveable radius if you will - within arms or legs reach basically. Needs to improve, period. Don't @ me.

Nobody will @ you.

Lautaro is improving, thing is the improving in itself is a process. He can't immediately score all the chances.

Also, he is 10 more goals shy of having an okay/solid season and we just entered October.

9 goals in serie A lol, I'm expecting a serious dry spell from him, it's just normal. Otherwise he will reach 40 goals in serie a this season lol

And we don't want that... real Madrid and Saudi clubs want that :D

We want him good enough but not excellent ahahha

What mythical figure are you talking about, the about 3-5 players in the world that are better finishers and that all are not within reach, because there really none in serie A. Osimhen have wasted equal amounts of sitters this season, last season he scored more mainly because he was better fed and played for a team in far better form.

The second half today was of the highest quality. Even if we didn’t take the chances that’s the best football we’ve played since the Derby by far. Hopefully we’ve snapped out of our little funk and will continue to play that way. Even defensively we gave them absolutely nothing.

I think the issue is none of our players are consistently good. Thankfully we have a proper system in place that mitigates that, but in nights like these it shows. Even our best players are massively inconsistent.

Trubin is massive, it is a shame we cannot get him because of the outrageous 40 % (CMIIW) selling clause.

And Trubin's masterclass or finishing quality aside, I want to appreciate how our team has improved significantly on the ball-winning and the transition. Many of our chances came after we win the ball back without committing too much energy like in Inzaghi's early tenure. It is also different when afterwards he chose to defend deeply to regain the ball. In this match, we recover many balls in the middle so we can easily feed our forwards and advancing midfielders while their formation is still in a disarray.

Even with 40% selling clause it will still be a profit.
Please enlighten me if I am wrong. But there is nothing like "permanent clause", isn't it? (but the clause is valid for x years or, maximum, till the expiration date of Trubin next contract)
It is too late now btw. Hope we will find the next Trubin :( would be really hard.

@ you
Lautaro hit the posts twice, so if by shoot centrally you mean center of the post then fair enough. Otherwise, it's not one of those days where you could say Lautaro should have aimed better.

Great performance, specially on the 2nd half. We just crushed them and didn't give them a moment to breath with chance after chance. We were bit unlucky , clumsy and Trubin had a great day, otherwise it would end with 5 or 6.
Toro had one of those days where no matter what, it won't get in. His shot to the crossbar was elite striking technique, and I don't think there are a lot of strikers that can do it better. Just a bit unlucky. Also His movement on Thurams goal had significant contribution to the goal. He pulled the defender that otherwise would clear the cross.
Dumfries at times is so frustrating to watch with his poor technique and ball control but eventually got the assist and overall has a great season so far.
Forza Inter!

There's at least 1 or 2 clear goal scoring chances every match where dumfries makes these worst decisions...

This is today's example when he chose mkhi in the far post instead of barella :palm:

I find it weird that Sommer was rated better than Thuram, but most of you gave Thuram the Motm award?

Such a hard and exciting game to watch. Sociedad and Benfica felt way tougher than any Serie A team we have faced or will face this season.

Against Sociedad yes, but against Benfica we were all over the place, whether it was by having the ball, creating chances or anything else. It wasn't one of these matches that feels almost impossible to unlock.

We were unlucky af, but we dominated by far, especially in second half.

I think it's way tougher when playing against teams that are tactically good and sit back entire game, l.e against Empoli recently. Maybe we would have a completely different outcome had we taken the match vs Sociedad as serious as others (think we underestimated them by making that heavy rotation in the line-up).

AFAIK the clause sticks permanently.

And 40 % sale clause is ridiculous. In the most simple term, it is appalling to hand out almost half of the money you earn after developing the goalkeeper for a club who does nothing.
Technically speaking, assume we bought him for 10 M and we manage to develop him until he catches world's attention. Then we sell him for 50 M like Onana. That means 40 % * 50 M = 20 M goes to Shakhtar. That only leaves 30 M for us and if it is substracted by our buying price (10 M), that will only leave us 20 M and I am not even considering his wage or amortization. Remember, this scenario is the very optimistic one. If we only manage to sell him for the lower fee then our profit is even smaller and we will struggle to find another GK replacement with a comparable quality. It does not worth the effort.
