He needs to keep playing like this, for this team to do better in the CL him, Lautaro, Barella and Bastoni have to be on their A game.

From what i have seen from him so far he has been excellent in every aspect and his work rate defensively has been noticeable. Also great to see a player with spot on set pieces and that can control and shoot the ball for a change.

If he continues like this he will def be among the best midfielders Inter ever had. Key word is being consistent.

CALHANOGLU SENDS MESSAGE TO MILAN: ‘INTER RECOGNISE MY QUALITY’

Hakan-Calhanoglu-Lautaro-Martinez.jpg

Hakan Calhanoglu sent a message to his old club Milan after Inter leapfrogged them to top the table. ‘They sense my quality and contribution, so I give my best.’
It was complete domination at San Siro, with a Lautaro Martinez brace, Alexis Sanchez volley and Calhanoglu rocket.

Only Alessio Cragno kept the scoreline down with a series of saves, including one on a Lautaro Martinez penalty in the first half, as there were 15 shots on target.
“I am very happy to be here. It makes me proud. I want to thank the team, as they really help me to become an important player, they sense my quality and contribution, so I give my best for the club,” Calhanoglu told DAZN.
“I also thank the fans, as they are always right behind me. It is an honour for me to be here at Inter.”

This result, with Milan drawing at Udinese and Napoli losing at home to Empoli, means Inter go one point clear of Calhanoglu’s former teammates at the top of the table.
“We’ve played many games well, now we are top of the table, we dominated so many matches and earned our place.”

Lautaro Martinez saw his second penalty of the season saved, so why does Calhanoglu not take the spot-kicks, considering he has such a good record?
“Let’s not create trouble over that penalty. I can get them wrong too. We are a team, we are all together, we played very well and Lautaro scored two goals today. The team always comes first.”

Very happy to see how he used this milan rivalry to get the best out of him and it works!

Aside from selling Hakimi this summer, a big regret was having to let De Paul join another club (after 35m in several installments transfer fee has been agreed with Udinese). Now I`m not bothered that much, as Hakan is *so far* delivering in the offensive phase of the game AND we didn`t have to pay for his transfer. Here`s a current snapshot of the stats (however De Paul joined a new league to be honest):

They still argue that brahim is better for them than hakan ever was, so they don't miss him 😂

RDP is playing in a deeper role and doing fine. Should also add the difference in coach and play style. Under Inzaghi we have an attack-focused approach, i.e. more opportunities to rack up goals and assists, Simeone has a more compact/defensive set up. As a personal preference I'd go with RDP because he has a better all round game and a grinder-mindset.

Assuming Hakan can maintain this level of performance, what makes DP a better all rounder? I can't see any aspect of the game that DP is better than Hakan.

RDP's attacking potential is wasted in Altetico. If they are willing to sell, I'd still take him on board for reasonable price of course.

Incisive passing (through balls in the air or on the ground),
ball progression as a ball carrier or vision/awareness/passing,
grit and leadership/influence,
better engine (stamina),
better defensively, tracking runs, positioning, pressing etc
hold up play/strength/dribbling
Versatility, he can play as a 6, 8 or 10 in a rigid defensive system or a possession based game

Only areas where Hakan is better are set pieces, long-range passing and shooting (world class), but RDP is adept in those areas also.

RDP is vastly overrated in this forum. The guy has had a decent few years in Udine (granted, impressive last year), but is nowhere near as good as some make him to be. He had all the freedom in Udinese, he was their only good player, and could do whatever he wants. Once he got to better team and more rigid setup, he fails badly. He is awful in Atletico and no, it's not the team setup only. He misplaces a lot of passes, losing too many balls, tries to dribble his way out from areas he shouldn't even go into... The only thing I admire about him is his stamina and workrate. He never seem to get tired and is working very hard, but that's about it.

Calha, even with all those consistency issues is the better player overall. Especially if you consider he came for free and RDP was 35 mils + bonuses.

I dunno what games you're watching (Real Madrid game?) but as things stand, based on current form, RDP is atletico's best central midfielder. Without him Ateltico have zero creativity in midfield and struggle in possession. CUrrent Ateltico are in disarray. Do you think Hakan would fair better under Simeone? RDP is also Argentina's best midfielder, IMO he's rated fairly well. Btw no one is saying RDP is world class, i don't think he has any attributes that make him so.

Calha, even with all those consistency issues is the better player overall.

In what areas? I've already mentioned shooting and long range passing.

The only thing I agree is that De Paul is better at dribbling (and things that come with dribbling).

Other than that, I fail to see how De Paul is a leader, at least for now. He was the biggest fish in the pond and that's it.
I fail to see how De Paul is better tactically and defensively. In fact, tactical understanding is the one of Hakan's strongest assets. He's always in position and available in defense, in build up and in attack. He also presses and tackles well.
And while Hakan may not be able to last full 90 minutes, his workrate/intensity when he's on is just as good as anyone out there.

He's better than Bruno Fernandes yet he's not on a Ballon d'Or shortlist. I wouldn't call him overrated.

Price affects expectations, not quality. What each player cost is insignificant when it comes to who's the better player between the two.

Kinda not comparing apples to apples to me.

Hakan natural position is not CMF and de Paul is, which explains why Hakan is a better goal threat along with other final third plays, and de Paul is better at cmf stuffs (better engine (stamina), better defensively ....)

I think as Hakan adapts more (I know he is quite use to it now, but I can see it getting even better) to our system and the cmf position the more value he will bring to the team than de Paul would have. I love to have de Paul in our roster, and if he is, the midfield should be cycling within Broz, Barella, Hakan, Vidal & de Paul, however, if I have to pick between de Paul and Hakan, it would be Hakan, cause he brings something none of our other midfielders has.
