Best player on the team. Barella at his peak might be a tad above but Hakan is way more consistent.

I don't think Hakan is our best player, but I think he is the most important player to this formation.

Far and away the most important player in this team. He was making Partey look like an amateur in those first 20 minutes.

“I do not run away from my responsibilities. If I make another mistake on a penalty, I will still take the next one. Some people might think that means I have a big ego, but the truth is I just have faith in myself.” - Hakan

Calhanoglu also trusts his Turkey international squad teammates, including 20-year-old sensation Kenan Yildiz, who came off the bench for Juventus and scored twice to secure his team a thrilling 4-4 draw in Serie A.
“Before the game with Juventus, I told my teammates not to leave Kenan Yildiz any room to breathe. They didn’t take it very seriously and then he was the player who turned the game around.

“I said to them afterwards, I told you so!” 😉
Hakan the visionary.

Played only the first half against Wales. Had to watch the last ~10mins of the first half and it didn't look like Calhanoglu carried any injury. Hopefully it was a planned half time sub.

Okay and just read Montella's comment:

🇹🇷 Montella: "It's difficult to take Calhanoglu off the pitch, he changes the balance in any team in the world. He wasn't well but we hope he recovers for the next one"

Motherfucker. Call him back already.

OneFootball is reporting that Hakan re-injured his thigh on international duty. He apparently came off at half-time feeling pain in the same thigh that sidelined him earlier.

It was stupid for him to go and play for Turkey so soon after recovering from injury. He should have skipped playing fior the national team and allowed himself some rest.

It goes without saying there are too many games and the players cannot handle the demands on their bodies.

I would guess he hasn't felt anything before that since he was playing for Inter for some time already. He said he felt something and asked a sub as a precaution. I think he should rest and not train anymore with the team, let alone play.

Would be ideal if we could trust our backup for a few weeks to get him rest. I think we need to fit a back up holding midfielder into the budget. Even if it’s an older veteran pair of hands for cheap. Asllani inspires zero confidence and I’d rather Barella or Z take the role
