but what is englands first11? will it be Rooney and Sturridge up top?

Carrick in the mid with who?

Hart in the goal? I don't like Hart.

With England it's always hard to know.

In these tournaments it's 90% about the quality of your central midfield. Take a guess what team has the second best central midfield in the world? But I agree with you. I wouldn't be surprised to see Uruguay out imo. By far the weakest midfield. Almost semi-pro level. I don't think the strikers can survive without service. Look @ Germany vs. Argentina. Suarez/Cavani would really have to pull something out their asses to make it past group stages.

For England, 4-3-3 would be best imo. Rooney up top, Sturridge on the wings. Gerrard + 1 DM is too weak. You can't play both him and Lampard, or him and Wilshere. It's too imbalanced defensively. But playing 4-3-3 would give them that option. Too bad Hodgson loves his 4-4-2.

Tbf he has tested out other different formations which worked well, so hopefully Roy doesn't pull out the damn 442, otherwise we're doomed.. I'd go 433 especially when we have good wingers

Gerrard and Lampard combo has been good in MF, but Carrick would be needed for the defensive side... I really wanna see Ross Barkley, he's amazing to watch and reminds you of kova.

I'd probably go Gerrard - Carrick - Barkley.. But I bet Roy puts Jones in MF :yao:

About the attack I have no idea what Roy is gonna do.. Most likely Sturridge and Rooney will play together tho, that I'm sure of. As long as Sturridge stays wide because his finishing is :yao2:. Townsend was impressive as fuck when he played, hopefully he's still in form when he comes back from injury.

With a lack of technical players we're never gonna win the WC, but I think England is still good enough to make the Quarters at least.. Hopefully

Reason everyone takes the piss out of them and doesn't like England is because of the media hype, but here in England I doubt there is one real football fan that thinks England will win, in fact they criticise them more than then everyone else!

Forza Italia.

Italy always has bad luck on South American soil, then add the fact that the team always starts off slow in tournaments. I have my hopes although I'm not expecting much, but if England makes it out of the group instead...:palm:

Nobody but maybe Messi have better finishing than Suarez. His free kicks, volleys, headers, finesse shots, all on some 90+ fifa shit

I agree with all you said but this. He scored a lot of goals this season, some matches he even looked better than Suarez.

I think ppl are underrating Uruguay a bit. they won the cops America cup a few years ago. No way would England win that.

south american teams have shitty central midfields.... Brazil is good, but still not near Spain, Italy, Germany
Imagine Pirlo and De Rossi vs. Gargano and some random guy playing in Mexico. Who's going to give service to their strikers?
Chile is another that has a good midfield. but thats it.

international football is all about central midfield both spain and italy vs. germany in euros showed that.

Plus uruguay's biggest advantage is that they are playing in a tropical climate which they are used to

I'll be interested to see how much this really affects the Euro teams. Part of me definitely thinks it will be a huge advantage and South American teams will dominate. However, a majority of these players spend just as much time in Europe as the Europeans. I think home field advantage and the fans coupled with the climate will make for a noticeable advantage.

Yup.... it being hot effects everyone but it's not like the altitude. I remember Colombia switching to Bogota which has high altitude for the WC2010 qualifiers so they could have an edge. It backfired big time as all our guys play in Italy, Portugal, France or Spain. It works for teams like Ecuador and Bolivia because 80+% of their nt plays in that type of environment. Besides the WC is a month long teams will get use to it. It's not like europeans don't have summer. When I went to france and spain it was hot as shit too

It's more that South Americans have more of a home field advantage being closer to home tho I am sure Spain, Italy and Portugal with have tons of love there too.

Climate is so overrated... South Africa was even more fucking hot and the gold, silver and bronze all went to Europe... Teams will be there early and take measures to get used to it... + many of them already play in hot climates... And as crzd said, there are the same hot, tropical summers here as well... only we swap for a cold winter now and then. In the Netherlands, the summer air is the most muggy shit you will ever breathe (if it's 30+ celsius that shit starts getting really bad) due to certain pressure areas and it has something to do with the sea. Anyway, if that starts kicking in it'll feel so tropically hot just breathing will make you sweat. By the time the WC starts, we will most likely have been in that crap again for a while. That means even the snowflakes here are gonna be used to it and they don't even have to leave this place. In the south, winters aren't even an issue at all. Spain for example won't have a problem with it... (South) Italians might not either.

The only South American team I can see ruining the plans of Euro teams is Brazil, if they can still play the way they did in that final against Spain that is, which the won 4-0. Germany, Spain, Italy etc. are just too good for the others, even though Spain is on the wane. And if the underdog Netherlands NT is underestimated, they are likely going to bite you in the ass as well.

We will see within a few months...

There's also a wide variety of temperatures within Brazil to take into account. Not everywhere will be as bad as the inside of the jungle (Manaus?).
