I'd love him back for the role we are aiming to get him.

Serie A super proven. Hardworker down to earth humble. Falls better than anyone = free kicks galore for Eriksen and Sensi.

Also Falcao law.

Pandev: 'Inter contacted me'

Veteran Goran Pandev has revealed Inter contacted him regarding a return to the Giuseppe Meazza!!!

The 36-year-old has contributed seven goals in his 20 games in Serie A this term, as Genoa sit 17th in the table as football has been put at a standstill. Pandev returned to Italy in 2015 after one season at Galatasaray in Turkey and revealed that his previous employer Inter contacted him during his time in Genoa. The North Macedonia international helped the club to a historic treble in 2009-10 and picked up another Coppa Italia title and the Supercoppa Italiana the following season.

“There was something, for me Inter are everything,” Pandev told Sky Sport Italia. “They're the team that has changed my life and made me win more, but my idea has always been clear since I arrived at Genoa.

“I wanted to show people that I wanted to give a lot. [Sporting director Piero] Ausilio called me and I asked him if he was making fun of me, but he said no, that they needed me. I replied: ‘Aren’t you looking for younger people?

“Then I talked to [Genoa CEO Alessandro] Zarbano, he said they wouldn’t let me go, the people here needed me. It would have been bad if I left.”

>>> I`m shocked a bit, but I honestly like Pandev. News seems to be confirmed:

Inter offered Goran Pandev the opportunity to become part of the club’s management back in the January transfer window according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

Right at the very end of the transfer window when Inter were looking for a striker capable of being a back-up option, Pandev was linked to the Nerazzurri by several high profile sources, including Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio. As per this report, Inter offered him the chance to see out the final six months of his playing career with the club before transitioning into a member of the club’s management. The 36-year-old striker was one of the heroes of Inter’s historic treble winning side in the 2009/10 season and it now remains to be seen if Inter will offer him the chance to join the management team again once he retires at the end of this season.

He scored a decisive goal to help his NT qualified for Euro for the first time :epicwin:

Yes, the man who took Macedonia to the European Championship ... I have no words to describe how big Pandev is, I have seen myself twice (because I work in a media) officially for statements, even though the man is full of money and in his soul he is simple and pleasant to talk to and still plays as if he were at the beginning of his career.

He did everything right at Inter, expect just wouldn't score enough. Thats kinda what I feel about Sanchez these days. Still Pandev was crucial cog in the wheel of our treble season, so I love him for that.

Treble's most overrated player.
Lol he wasnt Milito or Eto'o
And i know that he had like 3 goals and 6 assists in the half season , cause if u remember he came in the middle of the season so u need to respect that how he intergrated in the team so fast and played in all CH league games and was very good in our passing and combining game. He had a great eye.
Overrated was BALOTELLI

I don't think he was rated to begin with. Probably underrated and a closet fan favorite as it stands with Inter fans and foreign players that exceed expectations despite their limited time and zero hype.

Such players were Okan Buruk, Giorgos Karagounis, Carlos Gamarra and Dario Simic. On face value no one rated them, but whenever they were in, you'd notice that the Meazza crowd loved them, as long as they didn't fuck up. All have in common that thy are Balkanites and then there's Gamarra who played for AEK in Greece before coming here. Pandev also had the advantage that he came from our Primavera and played in Serie A and wasn't really a transfer from a midtier league that no one knew much about.
But he stands out as being a significant part of the Tripleta squad. You cannot take that away from him.

From recent players we saw this with Victor Moses and Ashley Young (the Meazza would have devoured him this season).
Quite difficult to explain why this happens, but it happens a lot with our fans. Add some expectations to transfers and they may be loved, but if they choke they'll not be remembered as fondly. From the Joao Marios to the Vandermeydes, from the Kilys to the Dalberts and from the Kondogbias to the Gabriel Barbosas.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Lukaku as well next to Moses and Young.

He was low-key very important in our historical triumph before a long time ago. He was not in the same level as Milito or Eto'o, but for sure he was there to make his contributions to help Inter achieve big things.

His goal vs Bayern in 2011 will always be an Inter moment I cherish fondly.

For me, it always has to be his free kick vs Milan in 2010.

Even now, I still get angry about how scummy we were getting treated in that match and being 1-0 up with 10 men I, like most I imagine, was nervous and furious for most of the match. I also remember Favalli fouling for the free kick and it was absolutely yellow card worthy but nothing was shown as he was already on a yellow. So when Goran rammed it home I went fucking nuts!

Highlight of that game for me was Cesars PK save on Dinho :proud:

But yeah, Pandevs goal was also awesome and emotional.

Conte confirmed in an interview after the Spezia match that Genoa veteran Goran Pandev “was an option” for Inter to sign in January.

I have great respect for him as a professional, he even scored 6 and assisted 2 so far in this season. I doubt it would have made sense, though.

Nah, we have Alexis as the inconsistent decent backup player. Pandev wouldn't bring anything for us.

Btw he scored his 100th goal in Serie A yesterday. :proud:

Also most goals from a Balkan player in Serie A. Here are top5:

1. Pandev - 100 (Macedonia)
2. Vucinic - 96 (Montenegro)
3. Ilicic - 93 (Slovenia)
4. Dzeko - 85 (Bosnia & Herzegovina)
5. Lushta - 60 (Albania)

Tho, depending how long they stay in Serie A, Ilicic and Dzeko will probably surpass him.

Genoa forward Goran Pandev congratulated Inter coach Antonio Conte with his year at San Siro.

After the 2-2 draw between Genoa and Benevento, the veteran forward, who scored a brace for the Rossoblu, sent a message to the Nerazzurri.

I certainly still follow Inter,” Pandev told Sky Sport Italia. “I congratulate the coach and I hope this year is a good year to win the Scudetto.”

The North Macedonia international scored his fifth and sixth goal of the season against Benevento, helping Genoa to sit 13th after 32 games.
