Can you guys imagine that even to this day, Pagliuca could be our first keeper, if it wasn't for Lippi and his obsession to Peruzzi?

Pagliuca was in goal for the Nerazzurri that season and reckons they would have won the title had VAR or goal-line technology been around.
“It was the year Ronaldo arrived, we won the UEFA Cup and they ‘stole’ the Scudetto from us, said in quotation marks,” Pagliuca recalled in an interview with Calcio e Finanza (as quoted by FcInterNews.it).
“It was a fantastic year which could have been historic, and it wasn’t our fault that it wasn’t.
“There were goals not given when the ball was half a metre over the line, blatant penalties not given… some very, very strange situations.
“Like the goal which wasn’t seen in Empoli-Juventus, for example, or the other one in Juventus-Udinese.
“Let’s say that with technology in use I’d have one more Serie A title to my name.”
Juventus won a bad-tempered match in Turin towards the end of the season, in which Inter were somehow denied a penalty after Mark Iuliano clattered into Ronaldo.
Simoni’s side did at least claim the UEFA Cup title that year – which remains Inter’s last victory in that competition – with a fabulous 3-0 win over Lazio in Paris.
Pagliuca made 234 appearances for Inter during a five-year stint with the club between 1994 and 1999.
He won the Scudetto once with Sampdoria in 1991.

MILAN - Gianluca Pagliuca has been inducted into the Inter Hall of Fame. The goalkeeper, born in Bologna on 18 December 1966, is the first former player to be inducted into the 2021 Hall of Fame. He becomes the fourth goalkeeper to be given this prestigious recognition, following in the footsteps of Walter Zenga, Francesco Toldo and Julio Cesar.
This is the first in a series of announcements for Hall of Fame inductions. Between now and March, there will be one player per month inducted: a defender, midfielder, and a forward.
Joining Zenga, Toldo and Julio Cesar is Gianluca Pagliuca, who represented Inter between 1994 and 1999, captaining the Nerazzurri to UEFA Cup success in 1998 against Lazio.
Pagliuca made 234 appearances for Inter, having been given the tough task of filling the considerable gloves of Nerazzurri legend Zenga. He featured in ten Milan derbies without losing, while offering an incredible skillset as a keeper, boasting excellent shot-stopping, impressive reactions, and an iron will. He was also known for his legendary kits which have played a role in his legendary status over the years.
An extraordinary goalkeeper, who has only been surpassed in the record of penalties saved in Serie A by Samir Handanovic, another iconic Nerazzurri shotstopper. Pagliuca saved 24 of the 91 he faced in 592 Serie A games. What’s more, he holds the record of being the fifth-highest appearance holder in Serie A history, featuring for Sampdoria, Inter, Bologna and Ascoli.
"I’m really proud to be inducted into the Inter Hall of Fame. Historically, Inter have always had very good goalkeepers, from Giuliano Sarti to Ivano Bordon, and from Zenga to my successors. "If I look back I’ve got many good memories. I’d pick the 1998 UEFA Cup triumph ahead of all of them though; it was an amazing journey, so many tough matches and incredible comebacks. It was a real triumph. I captained the team that day because Giuseppe Bergomi was injured. We lifted the trophy together, a really nice memory.
"Despite it being such a great adventure I regret not winning the league. It's a shame because it would have been a really amazing double. But I’ll take the positives, like the fact that I won six derbies and drew four, remaining undefeated.
“In being inducted into the Hall of Fame I join two of my amazing team-mates Bergomi and Ronaldo. Zio did a great job in welcoming me into the club when I joined in 1994. He was a close friend of Zenga and I was filling his boots. He was great, both as a player and a person. And what can I say about Ronnie? The best player I ever played with, his performances in the 1997/98 season were amazing and unprecedented.”

The 56-year-old is one of Italy’s most iconic goalkeepers. He played 206 games in Italy’s top flight winning a legendary Scudetto with Sampdoria in 1990-91 and the UEFA Cup with Inter in 1997-98
He was also Italy’s goalkeeper at USA ’94, where the Azzurri finished runners-up after losing the Final on penalties against Brazil.
In his latest interview with Gazzetta.it, Pagliuca revealed his obsession with football shirts, revealing that he would also call kit suppliers to design personalised shirts for him.
“I didn’t want to wear ugly shirts. I was never unhappy with the jersey I had,” he said.
“Nowadays, I see a lot of goalkeepers wearing the second or third kit and it’s not nice. I think keepers’ shirts should be colourful and reflect the personality of the goalkeeper. Zoff only wore black or grey shirts, but others such as Albertosi or Castellini wore bright colours.
“I love the Premier League and I watch a lot of English football,” Pagliuca continued.
“I liked Tottenham’s goalkeeper’s kit so much because the colours remembered me of Aston Villa, the team I support in England. It felt like I was playing for Aston Villa.”
During his first season at Inter in 1994-95, Pagliuca wore Spurs’ goalkeeper’s kit while playing for the Nerazzurri.
“I called those at Umbro [kit supplier for both clubs] asking them to have the same shirt. They sent me three or four with Tottenham’s badge which we replaced with Inter’s. Nowadays it would be impossible to do something like this.”
