Well, I hope history doesn't repeat itself..

I think we will be ok. He won close to half of his games in his career. With teams like Crotone and Genoa, this is not an easy feat...

No Milan player
Gasperini started last season with Genoa playing 3-4-3 With Rafinha and Crishito as advanced wing-backs, and with Mesto and Palacio as a wide forwards. Kharja, Veloso and Milanetto were central midfielders. So that is preaty defensive-minded formation, with Toni as tall target man, and Palacio as second forward.
Genoa scored 2 goals in a game just once while he was their coach. 10 matches - 8 goals in Serie A last season.
He was persistent with veteran Luca Toni, even he wasn`t producing nothing!
He was persistent with Crisito as full wing-back, even he was out of position.
He insisted on Chico as starter, he was a very bad starter, Gasperini figure that out too late.
Genoa record under his role (3W 2D 5L)
Genoa had average 14,2 shots per game 5,1 of that on goal.
They had 52,3 % ball possession in those games, which speak about fluid ball movement that Genoa played.

3-4-3? Lucio-Samuel-Frog?

Will still be hard to score against tbh...

if he manages to get Milito back to his goal scoring form as well...next season could be lots of fun for us of course I hope we manage to bag in a trophy or 2 along the way

Genoa under Gasperini was one of the club that I'm worried when we played them. Imagine old Milito, consistent Motta, super Pazzo. Double titles next year?

"Gasperini is an excellent choice and an excellent coach. He is very good and has great personality and he will not be afraid to take the lead at Inter.
He has his own style and ways planned for his new role going forward, but he will sit down and talk with all the players to vary things, but in the end he is a very good choice"

Am I one of the only fans who is excited about acquiring Gasperini? Guys, remember that just a couple of years ago this man was getting praised for his style and the way that he was able to promote Genoa to Serie A, and make them finish 5th place in their first year. I remember watching them that year brought me excitement! They played a unique, and dangerous style that was very fun to watch! Gasperini was also in the running with Prandelli to take over the Italy job after Lippi got sacked. He's very familiar with Motta, Milito, and Ranocchia, and I believe that having him behind our bench will bring out the best of those players. This man has potential to do great things now that he finally has his chance at a bigger club. Moratti got the best that was available and affordable, no doubt. Have some hope my fellow Interistas!

Gasperini didn't get along with his president at Genoa last season. The fact that he started Luca Toni, who hasn't scored, was the fact that the president paid him 4 milion euros per season (that was the plan before he went to juve), and Preziosi put pressure on his coach to get a fair production from his old overpaid forward. It was the same story with Veloso, Rafinha and Chico. Gasperini didn't want these guys. He kept playing with Marco Rossi and Omar Milaneto even though he had Veloso, who was a total bust.

In 2008-2009, Gasperini's Genoa was amazing, scoring a lot of goals (Criscito was very good offensively), and a decent deffensive team (39 goals, close to Viola, Juve and Milan) in a very offensive minded team.

I believe he can be a success if Rannochia, Samuel and Lucio (if he stays) will play well. Rannochia was very good when he played under Gasperini last season, and there is no reason why it would change now.

Good Luck and forza inter.

Yes but remember that these players are old. What happens if Eto'o becomes another Milito?
If we don't sign some young quality players this summer I think we should seriously worry about the future.

All I want is players to be motivated and no 3 man defences. Thank you and good luck.

Benvenuto Gasp! Amongst the serious candidates, he was my favorite (besides Boas but we know what happened there) Be interesting to see what formation he implements with the squad as it stands. Obviously there will be some new players coming in still so it's tough to say just yet. With our current CD's, I'd rather stay away from a 3-man backline though. All of them have below-average speed and might get badly exposed in such a formation.

Anyways, good luck to him. May he lead us to our 19th scudetto!
