Will be fun if Atalanta end up winning the cup and finishing ahead of us.

I hope they win the Coppa. I do not want them to finish in front of us but I would not begrudge them that honour if it happened.

Inter have hardly been deserving of finishing in third place. For a large part of the second half of the season we have stuttered and stumbled towards Champions League qualification and the final weeks of the season whilst Atalanta are playing at a gallop. They have set their objectives, believe in what they are doing, play with pride and are doing their upmost to make it into the Champions League. The same can not be said for our pathetically shit team.

Perhaps most importantly, Gasperini should be credited for the role he has played in their season. Even though the season has not ended, Atalanta have been remarkable and alot of the credit should go to their coach.

Atalanta in CL will be fun. They are like the Ajax of Serie A, an exciting team to watch for the neutrals. I just realized that they are the highest scoring team in the league with 73 goals so far, scoring even more than Juventus (69 goals) and Napoli (68 goals). Their defense sucks though, but they sure know how to attack and penetrate defenses. An impressive feat nonetheless.

Might not necessarily be bad defense, rather the midfield is more focused on creating chances for forwards than not letting opposition score. Atalanta plays pretty direct and risky at times, often losing the ball in dangerous situations.

100% agreed. I was just thinking if it had been us who were 2-0 up against Genoa, with the 3rd spot on the line, and Pandev got that goal to make it 2-1 I can guarantee we would have choked and conceded again. Atalanta just kept playing their game and got the 3 points.

Considering we thrashed Genoa away and kept 3rd place I dont think that's the case.

Don't have one.
He should use this season and go to milan to make some money again, and then after inevitable sacking return to mediocrity with some midtable club and feel at home again.

This guy seems to be forever butthurt about his quick spell at Inter.

“I don’t know what they expected from me, I didn’t want to change myself."

Answer is the results. I believe that if any coach would have as bad start at Inter he would be goner. You cannot start "an art program" in big club. First you need to bring the results and slowly maybe change things to your way. I think Gasperson is a naive person if he really thinks what he is saying.

Gasp: 'My style wasn't accepted at Inter'
By Football Italia staff

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini looks back and claims he was ‘just a phase’ at Inter and his different style ‘wasn’t accepted’: “The players were too pleased.”

Inter hired Gasperini in June 2011 to replace Leonardo, who had started a career as sporting director at Paris Saint-Germain.

But Gasperini reveals the Nerazzurri tried to get current Leeds United coach Marcelo Bielsa before going for the former Genoa coach.

“Before me, they tried to get Marcelo Bielsa,” Gaspeini told Mister Condo at Sky Sport Italia. “Leonardo’s farewell had rocked them.

“I was very well received by the people. I clearly have my characteristics, Inter were a great opportunity for me.”

But Gasperini only lasted five winless games at the helm, as he was sacked the day after a 3-1 defeat to Novara in Serie A on September 20.

“I don’t know what they expected from me, I didn’t want to change myself. They all, even the owner, wanted to keep their habits. They had brought me in to go through a phase, maybe to manage for a season.

“I wanted to revive the players, but they were too pleased. To train and play in a different way wasn’t accepted.

“The fact that Inter played with three at the back was not received well. There are some presumptions in the city of Milan. I often hear that in Europe you can’t help but play four at the back, it’s not like that.”

In hindsight, Gasperini, who has led Atalanta to the last eight in the Champions League this season, claimed he should have had a different approach when he entered the job at San Siro.

“Looking back, I would enter that reality much stronger and more credible, certain contexts are impossible to conquer with time and playing style.

“I don’t believe in managed football, but in the coached football.”

I think he is being butthurt for not having a proper chance AND now seeing that Inter are playing with 3 at the back...

like Conte deserves all the backing and huge investments, but nobody cared about him.. :alone:

NOW he is still in the UCL tournament, while Conte got knocked out early in the group stages. :eek:kay:

Meh I am ok with Gasperini. In a way I do think Inter didnt provide him with a real chance or at least the players were t willing to buy into his philosophy.

You could say maybe that's part of his fault but I'm happy he's doing well as Atalanta is playing really fun football with him.

A team like inter wants instant results

If he came in and found us 1/3rd the prospects he done with Atalanta but didn’t win us anything we would be angry. We are Inter not Roma or Lazio.

I remember we got smoked by the likes of Trabzonspor at home and Novara. The fans were livid and rightly so. Our squad was ageing but we literally came off a season where we finished second. Sure we lost Eto'o who was a big part of that squad, but we weren't that bad to get smashed and go winless that many games in a row.

In hindsight after seeing what he has done since, we could have kept him on longer and got him the players he wanted like Palacio etc. But seeing 3 at the back at that time with the fact that we couldnt even get a win under him, I was one of the many people who wanted him gone as well.
