This is the price of playing younger players unless they are the very very best.
Sure, but we also payed a price in going for the experience of Darmian and Mkhitaryan.

I’m hoping it’s just a case of heavy legs from preseason.

Lautaro looked static, Hakan and Mkhitaryan were pathetically sloppy, Darmian was a non-entity, Sommer had his worst game ever and our defence was all over the shop.

no real reinforcements or change in tactics from last year. Teams are gonna figure us out if we don’t make changes.

I think that was straight onto his arm, I don't think he ever got his head on it. Yes, your arms are extended for balance, yes it's not intentional, but if you mis-time a jump and that happens, well, that's not really an excuse or justification. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, or at least not at such a consequential moment next time.
The issue is the sport needs to do something about handball penalties being rewarded. Once 80 minutes hits the trailing team focuses more on shooting straight into defenders arms than playing an actual attack. It should only be a penalty if it is blatant. This one was garbage.

It was a penalty by letter of the law I will say that.

How do you judge "blatant"? You need to have an objective rule, otherwise you'll have more of these ridiculous fans crying. For fuck sake, some people cried about Thuram's non existent pk today.

Not worried about Inzaghi tactically, that's always been a strength of his and how he would get Lazio punching above their weight. I'm a fair bit concerned about rotation, I'm far more concerned that we're relying on way too many mid-30s and older players. Age has a way of sneaking up on you. You could be 35 and in excellent condition and still performing one year, and then one summer passes, you return, and all of a sudden you're just cooked. "Better one year too early than one year too late" as the saying goes when letting a player leave. We're talking a minimum of 46 Serie A + UCL games, in addition to any CL knockout games, Coppa Italia, the bullshit United States tournament next summer, if we're expecting heavy minutes from Acerbi, Darmian, and Mkhitaryan (and it's not like we have any alternatives to that at this point), nobody can be surprised if that eventually turns into a serious problem for us. In an ideal world, those guys are either no longer at Inter or in far reduced roles by the start of next season, not because they haven't earned their place with the club but because we need to transition to younger players in those roles.

Back in May i had posted this.

I fear a slow start is inevitable mostly because of Euro and Copa America. Internationals will arrive late in pre season which will certainly have an impact.

It's normal to have a slow start. Most players didn't have a proper pre season.

I’ve calmed down a bit but the issues w this team are still so glaringly bad season after season. No pace, no dribbling, little creativity. The team is exceptionally well drilled but we don’t have a player on our roster who can just go take the ball and create something out of nothing. Milan have won a title and finished top four the last few years solely because they have multiple players who can do this.

This was a reckless game all the time there is no point getting pissed with Bisseck, I blame more inzaghi

No reason to keep Lautaro for 70 min in his 1st fucking match when he wasn't doing anything.

No need to completely change the equiliber of the team by removing calha and putting taremi when there were 20 min left

Too much confusion all the game, yes we could have won by 2 goals ahead we could as well concede in the spaces we left behind. This match was very badly played from tactical point of view. Conceding 2 goals to a genoa who just lost their 2 strikers is stupid

I'm sure the stance would change if it's us wanted the penalty awarded.

Do agree with this. Inzaghi's done a great job creating as much creativity as he can out of a team that is as athletically limited as ours is. Dribbling basically doesn't exist with this team, we don't have wide guys who can force double teams. It would be such a breath of fresh air to be able to do something to change that in the next few years.

I worried about that too before, but the game proves otherwise, we drew cause brainfarts and rusty individuals, all the threats did not came from a tactical miscalculation from us or tactical brilliancy from Genoa, more on individuals' concentrations and physical stuffs (could be pre-season or aging, still not sure at this point). Mainly Acerbi (he lacked the usual domination on the forward for counter long direct passes, you see he kept dragging back and giving them more space, which I think it is due to his lack of confidence in the speed and physical stuffs), Sommer, Mihki, Darmian (he actually looked decent cause his involvement was limited, hence no major error, but Dumfries shows the difference when he was subbed in)

Toro was obviously rusty, the slow body reaction etc.

the 3-4-3 is also something new, or not, but Toro instead of Sanchez dropped back.

One thing you need to applaud Inzaghi is he subbed Mihki with Frat, before other midfield, how awesome is that.

We looked better then I thought we would at this point honestly considering how many players were away this summer. At HT I was concerned we would not have enough energy to score a winning goal and turn this around from a losing position this early in the season. Then we did cause Thuram was a monster in this game. Great goals. Might be massive season ahead of him. This hurts cause we all thought it was over at that point.

I'm also concerned with Sommer for some time (cause of age mainly and lack of a proper substitute). Not sure first goal was on him really but even without that he was having a shocker. Maybe it's nothing really,we will see. But the fact that we bought that Genoa guy instead of someone more promising who could he future starter is very worrying to me. And it is a fucking catastrophe if Sommer will turn to shit suddenly. Couldn't understand that transfer at all.

Most important thing for me is not to overreact after this game or after first few weeks. We all know league is really starting after first International break.
