Castrol rankings are the smelliest pile of shit I've ever seen. :)

I'm pretty sure Gazzetta watches the game. Otherwise, a computer system would have given Muntari a minus rating since he did zero positive and many negatives against Catania. :D

Jokes aside, again, pretty sure Gazzetta is not as rubbish as Castrol.

Chelsea - Inter (March 16, 2010)

Julio Cesar: 7
A providential save on the shot of Anelka (42') and then a more difficult stop on the lashes from the edge of the area from Malouda in the 7th minute in the second half.

Maicon: 7.5
A prodigious wall and blocked the shot by Drogba. A constant thrust in the eyes of Malouda and Zhirkov. His first cross was the first scoring chance for Inter and Eto'o (36')

Lucio: 7
A heated face to face with Drogba that characterized many phases in the first half. Yellow carded, will miss the first leg in the quarterfinals.

Samuel: 7.5
Like Lucio, but more remarkable by closing the gap that prevents entry into goal by Lampard. His stop at the 0-0 was crucial.

Zanetti:7
The captain had an arduous task: to curb the impetuosity of Anelka as a pure defender. So he was less proactive than usual, but tidy on the tactical level.

Thiago Motta: 7.5
Seemed at risk in the area but was crucial for the consistency and timeliness which stopping and relaunching the game. Yellow carded, will miss the first leg in the quarterfinals.

Materazzi: N/A

Eto'o: 7.5
Missed two great opportunities but the third had the coldness of champions.

Sneijder: 8
Suffered by Mikel in the first half but in the second, it started from his feet that put Milito, Eto'o and Pandev with four chances in front of the goalkeeper. Pure quality.

Pandev: 6
He was the least bright of the evening because he was not at top condition. He screamed like he was in pain from the fatal hesitation that prevented him the shot at the 59'.

Milito: 6.5
Yes, he failed with his chance with a crooked and wide shot. But fighting with determination and efficiency on all the balls and get dirty.

Stankovic: 6.5
Twenty minutes of advancing, freshness and the desire to go to the double. His freshness was used appropriately for the game.

Mariga: N/A

Cambiasso: 8
Difficult on a night of glory distributed the merits. Cambiasso, the author of the game with monstrous intelligence, he intended to exploit the tactical wisdom and a fierce applicator to every Inter players on the occasions more and more insidious. Rebirth.

Mourinho: 8

Got the revenge on Abramovich by choosing a courageous attitude. He allows his team to get away from the match after the first half of acceptable suffering and now the team made a triumphant return to the quarterfinals.

Overall: 8
An Inter dominated after the recovery. Qualification deserved.
My apologies for not having the motivations to do the ratings in Serie A lately. My bad :p.

Palermo - Inter (March 20, 2010)

Julio Cesar: 6
There were two shots on goal. First, he failed to stop the shot by Cavani, but he put his fists out and save the Miccoli's free-kick.

Maicon: 5.5
Tired, tarnished, for him he was bad at almost everything, including the turn of the head. Until he became providential on Cavani and on Miccoli.

Lucio: 6.5
He gave Inter the penalty. He also took away any dangers and gave good security.

Samuel: 6.5
He looked out for Miccoli a lot but he couldn't prevent the assist of Miccoli for Cavani. His header was close to a 2-1.

Santon: 5.5
He returned after more than a month, and on the goal of Cavani, he stumbled twice, then showed timid signs of recovery.

Zanetti: 6
135 starts in the row for him in the midfield, where Mou wants him to be. More useful and practical when he got back to the left side.

Cambiasso: 6
The job was to keep track on Pastore and give the midfield the rhythm. Then he built the usual dam for the team. Too bad the left foot betrayed him twice.

Stankovic: 5
He sacrificed and the quality that he put in this game was about the effort, as if he had gas. Got a yellow card and will miss Livorno.

Sneijder: 5.5
Like the first half in London and with little precision shooting. Came on alive a little bit at the end.

Eto'o: 6
Just like his Bentley went missing so are his goals in the league. Set up Milito at the beginning but quality and seemed dangerous.

Motta: 6
Came on to take his position and to give a little rest to Cambiasso to take delivery off of Pastore.

Pandev: 5.5
Entered to broaden Palermo, but obviously he spent a lot of it in London and his effort in this game was not there in this game. He moved very little.

Milito: 6.5
Did not allow distractions from the nervous Bovo, got a piece of Kjaer, hit the post, took the penalty without fear, then continued to work hard for the team in 90 minutes.

Mourinho: 6
Back on the bench, but his presence was not enough, then the transition from the diamond to 4-2-3-1 to give a blow to a flat Inter.

Overall: 6
Tired and did not manage to score the 12th goal in the first quarter of the game.

I agree overall as always, but i would edit few of the official ratings.. I would give RQ more, 6.5 at least.. Pandev got 6, the assist is the key factor of this, so i agree, or it would have been another 6.5...

Others are fine imo... :)

Inter - Livorno (March 24, 2010)

Julio Cesar: 6.5
Hasn't allowed a goal at the Meazza in 475 minutes. Reflections of gold on Pulzetti, good stops on Filippini and Knezevic.

Maicon: 7
A good evening, has the legs to gallop, crosses that are always dangerous and also his fifth goal.

Cordoba: 6.5
The difficult for him was to curl up without risking the penalty on Danilevicius, then elevation and speed.

Materazzi: 6.5
Governing by his head most fluently, decisive "block" when the lead was at 2-0.

Chivu: 6.5
And here he is, 77 days later playing without fear, his head was striking and making good decisions too.

Samuel: NA

Zanetti: 6.5
For someone who now played 136 games in a row, this is almost like a workout. And with him on the side, Maicon can do twice as much.

Cambiasso: 6.5
The General's experience carry the team and at the end he got it where he wanted. It's like his occupation is stealing balls.

T.Motta
: 7
Had the rhythm of a professor. Brilliant for Eto'o and then Maicon.

Pandev: 6
Signs of growth: had an assist for Eto'o, but not for the possible 3-0.

Quaresma: 6
He plays with flares and then sudden flashes (right Eto'o?). He almost has his touch on a goal.

Mariga: 6
He gave the team security, not afraid to try. He got a yellow.

Muntari: 6
Coming back after the disaster of Catania. He has the desire to rebuild things and cool down the fury on him.

Eto'o: 7.5
When the matches are likely to wrap up, people like him will open it like a package. First half for him was beautiful and effective, then only beautiful in the second half. He is well rested too and thinking about "his" Olimpico.

Mourinho: 7
Three changes in the defense. It is a turnover, not wasting energy, easily won and the team found the rhythm.

Overall: 7
San Siro is back as a sweet home.

Roma - Inter (March 28, 2010)

Julio Cesar: 4.5
We all agree that the touch on Vucinic's shot was a good one, and how he closes the angle on Riise' properly. But that mistake was the assist for De Rossi, an unforgivable one that changes the sense of the game.

Maicon: 5.5
Ranieri was worried enough to put Vucinic and De Rossi on his side, but he did very little and his awareness was low.

Lucio: 5.5
He picked up another yellow. But he was one of the few to take initiative, but on he freed Toni for the 2-1, he made two mistakes on that play, clearing and marking. And those are serious.

Samuel: 5.5
Did well on some parts but here is one illusion: De Rossi advances to score that goal. Was a dam on Toni, but Pizarro forced him to get a yellow. He was also unlucky by hitting the crossbar from the corner kick.

Zanetti: 5.5
Will be disqualified (will miss 138 games in a row). Struggled to play as a left-back.

Stankovic: 5
De Rossi just ripped through that midfield. He is down physically, and it seems like he was burnt a couple of times. Was the first one coming out of the game.

Cambiasso: 5.5
Had some exchanges in the midfield, but failed to contribute into the action. Also was replaced.

Thiago Motta
: 5.5
A little weak, often inaccurate, suffered the aggression by Perrotta without answers. Another weak link in the midfield.

Quaresma: 5
He ran but vain.

Sneijder: 6
Was not at his best, started badly but grew at the end. Half of Milito's goal was his, setting it up with care. Pulling back to defend, directing is his job as a trequartista, but it was not enough.

Eto'o: 6
Very wide left, Cassetti was beaten but struggled with Burdisso. He too was yellow carded.

Pandev: 5.5
Entering the game for Stankovic, but he couldn't change the situation. Was involved in the goal from Milito but he was offside.

Chivu: 5
Replacing Cabmiassio to play as a left-back. Provoking Toni so he deserves to see red.

Milito: 7
What more can you ask him? Was pretty effective in the first half, he then scored with his usual touch. The post was almost broken with his shot at the end that would have given him the 2-1. In addition to the shots is the effort. But he was terribly alone.

Mourinho: 5.5
Starting Stankovic was not a great idea, also his three substitutions made a minimum contribution. He was with the usual four strikers at the end. The impression is that the team is on their legs and unable to follow him.

Overall: 6
Always suffering. That was an athletic performance more than a psychological one.

They are not comparable. Castrol is, like you suggested, a pure statistical system of rating players. Players are given points automatically of what they do on the pitch. Gazzetta's ratings are subjective opinions of the person(s) who are giving the ratings.

"Always suffering. That was an athletic performance more than a psychological one."

i have to agree with the gazzetta on that statement, we didn't seem in the game at all except for a few spells. I'm hoping that this is because we are 100% focused on CL and we have a great performance against cska. It was a bad performance from us and if we had a little more luck and made a few less errors we definetley would have got a better result. It was Roma at or near their best and a mediocre Inter. It shows our superiority in a weird way considering Roma wanted it more and were willing to do what it took to win (hard fouls, diving etc) and we were going through the motions as that quote suggests but it was still a close game.

This is why i'm not too worried about losing the scudetto because we still are in control and when we want to we can turn on the jets and it hit our top gear and collect 3 pts every week. I don't believe Roma have the consistency or the champion mentality to challenege us to the final day.

FORZA INTER.
