gourcuff has constantly been injured for the past few years so he has never been able to find any consistency. he's a big risk because you don't know if he'll stay fit which is why rennes only offered him a 1 year deal with option of an extension. his mentality also hasn't been strong enough to make the sacrifice and move to the next level. he isn't a ben arfa or anything like that but he simply doesn't work hard enough. phenomenally talented player but that's just not enough.

OL chose him over pjanic in 2011 and im sure they're deeply regretting it.

Wtf? If you knew a bit about french football and Ligue 1 you would know Gourcuff has a big reputation for being lazy and timid. Domenech in his bio he looked like he was in a world of teletubbies while Ancelotti called him egocentric at Milan. Really couldn't handle the pressure and he didn't have the hunger to live up to it. It reminds me a bit of Alvaro Recoba. He's also pretty lazy on the pitch, have you ever watched Yoann play?

I also heard bad things about his lifestyle back when he was at Bordeaux. Smoking, clubbing, eating badly, and womanizing, but those are all rumours.

edit; This moment last season says everything to be said about Gourcuff. He feels some pain, he just walks off the pitch, swears at the manager when asked why he did that, and goes into the dressing room. Totally unprofessional. After the game, Fournier was so upset that he said he hopes Yoann was actually injured.

I wouldn't say he's a Balotelli or a Ben Arfa, but he definitely never worked hard enough. Whether he may have worked hard may not have made such a big difference to his career because of his injuries, but still. I've actually watched that documentary, to me it's just television. The old dude in that video just recently said that Gourcuff's injuries were mostly psychosomatic before he died. I think he's not mature enough and doesn't have the hunger and fortitude to live up to the the pressure and make the sacrifice.

i watched the bordeaux liverpool game and nicolas pallois was a beast. in most bordeaux games i've seen he's looked really good, dude is really underrated. would be a great cheap buy for any EL/midtable premier league club.

khazri has been more consistent this season, but he reminds me of boudebouz because he's talented but he can also be really streaky.

i dont watch much OM but when i have cuaght them play ive seen good and bad games from him. he is a great finisher. didnt play much last season because he was 2nd choice to gignac. he looks like he has strong technique, has more of the characteristics of a supporting striker to me. biggest problem is efficiency and decision making. he tends to overdribble on the ball and off it i noticed his offside awareness is poor. still a really raw product. i dont think he's the 20-30 goals/season elite striker arsenal fans are looking for to win them the title.





on another note, watched OM - OL a few days ago and OM fans showed the little class they have in how they treated mathieu valbuena. yet another reason to dislike this unlikeable club. they fucking hanged a valbuena doll by the neck hanging on the roof of the stadium (image). match had to be stopepd for 20 mins in the 2nd half because they were throwing so much debris on the pitch and the ref thought it was a safety risk. we're talking about a player with 242 appearances in their shirt who played for them from 2006-2014. he won ligue 1 and the cup with OM and they retired his no28 jersey last season, and yet this is how they treat him because he went to a competitor, not even a rival. a relatable example would be esteban cambiasso moving to napoli or roma after his spell at leicester, and the curva nord hurling jeers, abuse, and debris his way.

anyways, lass diarra played like a beast and he was easily the motm. physically and tactically dominated the midfield, read play and carried the ball forward very well, won nearly every challenge he made. i can easily see him as the signing of the ligue 1 season if he stays consistent, i recall he was linked to us last january but it never happened which is a shame. my man maxime gonalons has had a disappointing start to the season. had an okay first half but a disastrous second, his mistake led to marseille's equalizer. there are calls among lyon's faithful to strip him of the captaincy because they think he isn't enough of a vocal leader and is too inconsistent. sergi darder started the match but i wasnt impressed with him. lopes made a number of fine saves and was one of the best players of the game. laca scored from a PK but he really hasnt been close to as good as he was last season, he doesnt have confidence right now but he still played a good game. OL havent been playing well this season, theyre overdependent on an individual piece of skill from laca or valbuena, earlier in the season it was fekir.

the man of the hour, valbuena, was targeted by marseille's players for the entire game, alessandrainin got sent off for a terrible challenge while rekik also made a dangerous challenge. cabella made a terrible tackle on jallet as well. it would have been awesome if valbuena had taken the PK to shove it in the face of the velodrome, he was probably OL's best player. OL was actually in the lead and dominating before play was stopped which makes the bullshit in this match even greater. game ended up as a draw but it was close to being the first match abandoned because of fan trouble in ligue 1 history according to the commentator


ive seen worse from OM "fans" this year, and its still september. i saw a video online of their travelling fans in the netherlands for an away EL game vs groningen a few days ago nd they were trashing the city. literally walked into an outdoor cafe and started trashing the shit out of it.

even worse, marseille's chairman, labrune, still claims the club doesnt have any problems with fan trouble and that there are only 50-60 bad apples in the velodrome nonsense. in reply to the questions about the fan incidents, he deflected by saying "I think everyone has to look at themselves in the mirror; I’ll be accepting my responsibilities as president, and I want everyone else to look at those at the Football Federation, the referees, and Olympique Lyonnais as well. The club accepts its responsibilities for the two or three bottles thrown onto the pitch."

firstly, it wasnt 2-3 beer bottles. a flare was thrown at lyon's gk and a fuckload of bottles, plastic and glass, were thrown on the pitch. labrune is the guy that escalated the tension by claiming valbuena joined OL for the money before the match. secondly, he's basically blaming OL for showing up and getting a deserved penalty? dude's trying to take the pressure away from the fact he's done a terrible job dealing with the ultras by blaming people that hvae nothing to do with what went wrong that night with a ridiculous conspiracy. labrune is a fucking clown that is bad for french football. he should be ashamed of himself for spouting accusations and excuses after this debacle, and for the way he has generally mismanaged his club.

anyways, OL won 2goals to nil vs bastia. jallet has been great every game so far this season, he deserves to be called up for the french national team ahead of debuchy. darder was actually fantastic, kalulu who got his first start for OL from the academy looked alright too. team didnt play well but they got the win against a terrible bastia side.
