monaco and marseille have no continuity. monaco has changed too much and it will take time for things to stabilize. berba, martial, carrasco, kdog, kurzawa, and abdennour have all left the club. they've spent an outrageous amount of money on several unproven, inexperienced young players like traore, cavaleiro, rony lopes, gabriel, bahlouli, carrillo, costa along with el sharaawy and coentrao. i don't see how all of them can get the playing time and support to develop well and other than 4 players, their squad has no maturity.
marseille has also had an upheaval because of bielsa's sudden departure and the fact they have no money. ayew and gignac both wanted to extend their contracts but OM couldn't afford it. and while OL may have a few quality players, haven't had any big losses in the mercato, and were very competitive last season, they are simply not at PSG's level. the fact they've been able to come this far and deal with their debt over the past few years by awaiting the construction of the new stadium, relying on their academy, and spending next to nothing in the transfer market is amazing. from what i've seen so far of this season, lacazette has been subpar, valbuena is still settling in, and there isn't any chemistry with beauvue. fekir pulled the team in the first two games which is why it's such a shame he's gotten injured.
ligue 1 is a hotbed of talent because of french youth academies.
