Could you guys please provide us with some of your ideas to improve the forum? We're willing to listen to suggestions of various complexity. I'm going to consolidate all of the (good) ideas and then see which ones are attainable and which ones are not.

If possible, I would like to sort the suggestions into four broad categories. Please specify which area your suggestion falls under.

Forum Operations
  • This category captures day-to-day operations of the forum
  • Suggestions could include: stricter/more lenient moderation, allowing users to embed tweets into posts, new forum subsections, amendments to forum rules, etc.

Forum Marketing
  • This category captures ways to promote the forum and gain more active users
  • Suggestions could include: establishing a social media presence, redesigning the forum's banner, etc.

Member Interactions
  • This category captures ways we can enhance user's experiences on the forum
  • Suggestions could include: new types of user contests, different information within member's profiles, etc.

Miscellaneous
  • Everything else not captured above

My Ideas
Member Interaction: Developing a standardized template for match-openings that are required for users to create match threads. This would include relevant match info, and get away from "3 in a row pls" openings.
Forum Operations: I would like to archive some older threads to reduce forum clutter, and replace old threads with newer threads. For instance, updating the "dream signing" thread.

I ask that you take some time and put serious thought into this.

I suggested template for match day threads around 4-5 years back and the answer was "we don't put restrictions" or something like that. Template would be a good start so that you can get all the relevant information in one place.

Also social media presence. Create twitter where you post articles, transfer rumors and also translations from interviews/news/transfers to English. I think Michael already does this, but FIF posting would give better exposure about the forum.

Also, almost every forum has features where tweets are embedded, high time FIF brings this feature too.

1 week ban for those who post and believe Icardi loves Inter until they stop doing it... I won't tolerate such naivety around here

A more active 18+ thread would improve the forum greatly.

The painful truth is that we need to implement a permanent IP ban for the entire Australasian continent and purge the forum of their insidious presence. They are holding the rest of us back.

The only way is to pretty much expand the page's usage. Create a blog that attracts people to the website and some will stick to the forums. No comments section under the articles but merely a link in a subforum for the blog and everything related goes there.

P.S. Does the Arcade section work anymore?

Mobile version of the site?

It’s 2019 after all.

I did a redesign of the banner and talked to Handoyo but he then disappeared. That was some months ago.

We still have not found him yet, rumour has it he's got married. Poor Handoyo.

Personally I like the forum the way it is, I'm a classic man I don't like changes, it makes me uncomfortable.

However, a simple tool for poor memory dudes like me, an active notification template or something that notify you when someone replies to my post, would be nice.

The forum design should remain the same tho. I love the 'simplicity'. Like no constant Gifs in your autograph section. A new banner would be welcome.

I second the active notification template idea.

An eggplant emoji would be good.

Yeah notification when someone replies to your post or tags you would be good, so that you won't miss out conversations/arguments.

I’ve thought about trying to see if some of the Facebook groups would encourage their followings to sign up for FIF. Would probably need to entice the moderator there with mod status here though.

There are some big groups though just run by random admin. I’m in one with like 8,000 people.

I'm not sure whether we need the "fake" growth and influx of all kinds of random people, let alone giving them any power in the process. This is a recipe for disaster.

Organic growth is quite enough for a forum, I'd get the expansionism if this was a for profit webpage but it isn't. Or is it? I mean how many nosebeers and whores do you guys need?

If anything we should have a social media presence ourselves, it'll quickly gather a following of its own and in turn could lead to some new members here.

How would a social media or social media presence even work connected to a forum? The facebook group doesn't seem popular.

Maybe a dumb question, but is there like no way to be connected to Inter.it and get a forumlink on their site? I think the forum would immensely profit from that. There are a lot of Inter fans who don't know this forum I reckon

I would agree with some of the earlier posts:

Forum Marketing
A fresh banner and more modern skin/ sleeker design to the forum would improve the end user experience. The look and feel edges on the side of a 2000s web portal. I’d like a hamburger button with the structure we have now to go to areas, sections then relevant threads. A type ahead search field would be great for helping find older threads or related threads which might also cut down traffic of new duplicate threads

Member interaction
Definitely agree with Wallace that a mobile version of this would benefit all members, I’m assuming most members will access the portal via a phone or tablet.
Agree with Ronaldo that an eggplant emoji should be added, but would go one further and say that the emojis are all refreshed and more current, similar to the ones we use on iOS and Android OS.
I’d like to do more than just thank someone for a post, definitely need to keep it but would like an icon and count total, would also like other stickers/ stamps (sorry using some terminology when adding icons to PDF docs) to say things like I agree, disagree, think it’s funny etc. (When I see disagree I’m thinking of something along the lines of an away player icon
SSO - I hare always having to log in

Misc:
Do we need the picture gallery? People post pictures related to the thread they are in so feels a bit redundant, I’ve personally never went in bar the exception of today to see how often it gets used, which doesn’t look often.

Agree that we could probably remove the arcade, still would be good to have a space (improve the space) where people could chat with each other outwith threads or have an active list of social media and gaming platform groups to join/ follow
A flame meter on each thread (maybe based on the sticker icons I spoke of earlier) where if there are too many rage posts (let’s use a Icardi as an example) then they all add up and if the meter hits full the thread locks for 2 hours so people can chill out.

Sorry I work in testing, we’re never fully happy :p
Hopefully some useful feedback, some fantasy feedback.

Please have it completed by COB Friday.

If you wanna use Facebook, then a FB page would suffice. Groups aren't a big thing anymore and you barely have any activity there from the majority. Most don't even know that they are in a group.

The content people there could be specific people and it can be 1 guy for news, another for sharing whatever official Inter page is posting, someone else for 'own FIF content' so essentially funny pics or whatever and slowly you'll have a FB page identity. And you'd use that to push for people to come to the forums but there you have the convenience, publicity and/or anonymity issues. So a fb page is more convenient usually for the user, it is though a public forum so eveyone you know will see your activity there. Some people aren't big fans on that. And forums provide anonymity to the extent that you allow it whereas over 90% of the people on Facebook are using their names.

It can be very easy to gain 5-10k followers on facebook. Word of mouth will give you around 500-1500 people and paid ads will guarantee the next jump. Since the end goal is to bring more active people over, you could attract 10-15 members per 1,000 likes or so, just randomly putting that out. You wouldn't expect a higher than 5% conversion rate. So that begs the question if it's worth it to begin with.

P.S: I'm using my phone with the current browser version and I have no issues. What exactly does a mobile version offer other than perhaps a discount of mobile data per page?

Allow people to use emojis, they are not visible atm.
Visible
Also make the forum a bit more mobile friendly. Most people use their phones nowadays and the forum is a bit “clumsy”, especially when posting. You need to zoom out to 0%. Maybe add a mobile version? So that the screen is adjusted to phones.

I also think an (optional) notification for whenever somebody quotes, mentions your username or thanks you would be cool.

We do need to be careful not to grow too much too quickly. Part of the charm of this forum is that with organic growth, every active member can feel like a member of a community, as opposed to one of a thousand posters.

Also, no way we can officially link to inter.it without them making us change things, e.g. remove the flamer's paradise (especially 18+) moderate bad language etc. and I'd like to be able to say 'cunt' when the need arises.
