Can anyone who watches F1 regularly explain to me what the current state of things is?

I know Verstappen is the dominate guy at the moment. He’s won the last 2 after Hamilton and Mercedes run. Is he really that much better or is the Red Bull car just that much better?

Will this season be interesting. I already heard Verstappen was dominate again in the first race of the season.

Well basically we had new regulations in 2022. Red Bull aced them from the get go while the others struggled to make their projects work. In the end they just copied Red Bull designs. The problem with that is when others copied them Red Bull had developped theirs even further so they already had a significant gap. We also had a development freeze in engines and a cost cap (similar to salary cap in US sports) so it's impossible for others to throw money into their problems and catch up before 2026 when regulations change again. Also they have in Verstappen the best driver on the grid so it's a deadly combination. It's unlikely there will be any excitement for top spot in F1 before 2026.

The only "interesting" thing in F1 right now is Red Bull boss and Geri Halliwell husband, Christian Horner, was involved in an illicit affair with his PA and there were even some Whatsapp messagges leaked. Employee issued an official complaint about him for inappropriate behavior, Red Bull hired an independent barrister to investigate but in the end it was dismissed. But the matter isn't exactly over. Other teams are pushing for FIA And F1 management to get involved because saga is "damaging" sport's reputation and there's also a rift inside Red Bull organiation. A part of the company want him gone but for now he has the backing of majority shareholder. Verstappen environment seems to be on the side that want Horner out which makes it even more spicy.

Only interesting thing of GP was Mourinho presence at Aston Martin garage.
