It's always Lautaro, against Saudia it was half foot and now it's half finger.. this time VAR said it's regular. At Croazia Belgium the same happend, Croazias, goal was not given because the players finger was on offside.
I just posted to say Varane's ass kept him on side cuz it was funny to see that image but okay point taken

Best final ever, won by one of the weakest champions ever.

France is going to become scary when they change coach and start to actually play to their many strengths.

Also imagine scoring a hattrick in a WC final and still losing, crazy night for Mbappé.

They'll also be scary once they're healthy. This was in many ways their B team.

If France had Benzema, Argentina would have no chance. Pogba is a hit and miss player but he would have been a positive force no doubt.

I think Les Blues biggest issue was being overrun in midfield for the first 75 minutes of the game. That and they had no answer for Di Maria. Pogba isn’t the same player that initially left Juve years ago but he’s still a step above, at least in terms of creativity from midfield, Rabiot and Tchouameni.

The player they really missed was Kante imo. He can dictate the tempo, which they had no hold of until extra time.

Current France is shite. Worse then Croatia. We saw that in League of nations. England is much stronger.

Deschamp is the weakest link there, France squad is so strong they can send 2 NT on tournament and both would probably get to semis at least.

Memes aside, Argentina created a lot more once Lautaro was on the field. Should have buried at least 1 though, fucking hell 🤦‍♂️

Very, very happy for Messi.

Impact sub. Instantly brought life to Argentina's attack. Just shows how stupid Scaloni is
What? Scaloni was arguably the coach of the tournament, if not first at least in the top 3. It's him that was proactive when they won the Copa and it was him that after unlucky first game didn't lose his head, put Paredes on the bench and was never obvious with his starting 11. Putting Di Maria on the left wing in the final was a MASTERSTROKE. If Argentina's defence was better overall (and if Messi wasn't dispossessed by Coman), Argentina would've won in 90 minutes.

Otamendi wasn't even playing good for most of the tournament and YET they won it. It just shows that they had the right mentality and the right coaching to never give up.

Putting Lautaro on the bench (because of his ankle issues) but yet still trusting him to shoot the 5th penalty against Netherlands tells me that Scaloni and Lautaro trusted each other. It's not like Julian Alvarez wasn't playing good.

To me, Argentina didn't have the best squad on this World Cup, I'd say France have that easily.

So just because Scaloni didn't play Lautaro from the start in the final doesn't mean he didn't do a great job with the squad he was given. Remember, they didn't have Lo Celso, who was great for them until the World Cup (and who sadly won't get the World Cup medal)

Read a bit more, when I was praising Scaloni for utilizing Di Maria and completely nullifying Griezmann's impact on the game. First half he set up his team greatly.

BUT Deschamps was the better coach in the entire game. He saw what was wrong, subbed rather quickly. Scaloni should've brought on Toro after France started putting on pressure. It was clear as water that Alvarez was gassed, same for De Paul. Fact is that Scaloni did nothing once France started to put their power play in action.

Acuna sub also was not effective. I'd have put him in Central midfield to combat France's physical strength.

Very lucky that France didn't score the 2-3 before final whistle, and the Toro sub was still good, opening up spaces -> resulting in the late Messi goal.

I never said I wanted Toro to start, but Scaloni was stupid not to sub him in earlier

I agree that he was fantastic whole tournament but this win wasnt clear. If you dislike rube you know what I am talking about.
that's bs

There are soooo many other World Cup wins or World Cup moments that were more influenced by referee decisions than this, real shady shit. England 1966? Hand of God? Korea getting to the semifinals in 2002?

This World Cup was bonkers but the best two teams were in the final and all the penalty decisions in the final were correct.

I see nobody is mentioning how Griezmann was marked the whole time he was on. Argentina knew exactly what to do.
