I'm not sure what kind of option Venezia has on him. Obligation is I think if they avoid relegation. I understand the option was something super low, like 2M and we indeed have 50% on resale. So let's say they buy him. How much his value could be? I bet not over 10M? (we paid less than 15M for a starting Serie A keeper of Genoa). Yes, Stankovic is now Serie A starter aswell, but possibly on a relegation side and have less experience anyway.

So 10M valuation and we pay half of that because of the clause. So effectively we would have paid 3M for Stankovic playing one season in Venezia. I don't know, doesn't sound this was a great business. :D Yes, he got the opportunity, but do WE have to pay this much for it?

I feel these options are just way too low, these fucken Italian clubs are poor fucks.

the option now looks low in hindsight, yeah, but to be fair, if it means we're out 3m to buy a guy who is ready to meaningfully contribute for us, and he's had a year of REALLY good development at Venezia.. its not the worst thing in the world? that's how I'd look at it

put it like this, if I could pay 3m to make Zanotti, Kamate, Berenbauch, and Topalovic *proven* at the level where they'd be approximately useful for Inter, we'd all do it in a heartbeat

This is a fair point.

Venezia might go down, I'm wondering what's going to happen. I'd hope he wouldn't be acquired by them and we get to loan him again. We would loan him WITHOUT an option now that there's a proof he can play at Serie A. Sommer has one year left of his deal so we have 2 GKs already. Stankovic should play more and prove himself even more. Then in 2026 summer we would check the situation.

I wonder what the terms of the contract are. Likely, the obligation is an option, and unless they're bankrupt, they'd be crazy not to exercise the option - but, yeah, who knows.

Agree with the overall strategy, though.

Venezia coach Di Francesco was asked if Stankovic could be out for a while:
“I don’t know, I’m not a doctor.”

“I can only interpret it,” he added. “But it doesn’t seem like a small thing. He seems to have a problem with his patellar tendon.”
Wishing him a speedy recovery

Venezia Sporting Director Filippo Antonelli says that Inter owned goalkeeper Filip Stankovic will be out for around two and a half months with the knee injury.

And that's the optimistic scenario.
