Maybe it's a good idea to start Gosens vs big teams and DiMarco for mid-table.

Hear me out, Dimarco reimagined as a LCM.
I don't think so. He's too soft to play in midfield and not that good of a playmaker to make up for it. I think Dimarco's best position is lb in a back 4.

Don't have one.
I’ll give it to Dimarco. He always flattens weaker teams. You need players like that.
Yeah, his technique and close ball control is really great, most of these low level teams can't handle that. Still for me, he would be best used as a rotational player for someone better, especially in defense, but unfortunately we aren't in that kind of position where we can afford di marco as that type of player.

As for the gosens vs di marco debate, there is no question di marco fits inzaghi system much better. If we had a setup where we relied on open spaces and putting balls over the defender's head then gosens would probably thrive there, but this current setup is basically slow build up from the back with a lot of passes and one touch football and di marco is way better there.

There is a feeling he only shows against lower opposition. Football is tough, So yes, I agree. Oh and that's why he didn't take the penalty. (Previous poster).

Well, luckily he had to play against Politano instead of Lozano. The tactics and starting line up really worked well for us.

How can you send in such an inch perfect cross but send a shot in an open goal out for a throw in. Lol
Come on man, if you're talking about that cross from Lukaku, that wasn't as clear the chance as you make it be. Players aren't static, why does everyone think that football is like baseball whenever a shot takes place? It's as if people reset their brains and forget they've ever kicked a ball or at least watched this sport for more than 3 minutes.

It was hard enough to reach the ball there, Dzeko was also pouncing so it wasn't even clear that the ball would even get there and even getting a hit is enough and you can't really control where it goes.

Some of you are extremely unfair, bordering ignorance, when it comes to judging certain situations. Or perhaps bias kicks in, I don't know. It's fun from a social experiment perspective but it's really baffling how people can judge things so harshly when clearly stuff aren't in the control of the person being judged.

Rant over

I wish you'd extend the same benefit of the doubt to Lukaku :p

I do, but he's not helping his case most times. If you wanna see that live, check our goal where he's calling for the ball outside the box and then watch his movement and compare to Dzeko's foxy move...

I do it with every player. But come on, Lukaku usually needs the opposite treatment.

It was not hard for him to reach the ball. He's not stretching or anything. Dzeko making it difficult sure, but that end product. Lol

And bias? No way, absolutely any player I'd be saying the exact same thing. Sending it out for a throw is crazy. Yes it's not a sitter but absolutely has to do better.
Talking of bias, di Marco gets a pass because he's an inter fan, Italian and a youth product. The reaction would be much different if lukaku missed that, or dumfries etc.

From that position and with his quality must do better IMO.

Come on man, don't insist. You've put on your baseball glasses once more.

There's not "from that position" here. Look where he was when the ball was hit by Lukaku. Look how he got to his final spot. Count the time it took him after the ball went past Dzeko. Check his body positioning at the time. Check his awareness of the surrounding (ie GK position, and potential teammates around), check the angle he's at and count how long he has to process all that information while staring at a ball that's not intended for him which hit the ground twice before reaching him.

Then tell me how long he has to direct his foot, body and aim after having to sprint to get there....

If anything he should be appreciated for even reaching the ball!

his ball control, crossing, and long passes are top-class. If only he had more stamina and a bit more speed he would be irreplaceable

Honestly, this guy is something special, his crossing ability is equal to Figo and his set pieces are pretty nice too.
He's improving a lot season by season, I'm sure he's going to give us more satisfaction in the future, especially in UCL where technical players can make the difference with a single play.

You need to let this one go, man. Dimarco's chance was hardly a goal scoring chance in the first place. The angle was minimal. It would have been super lucky to even get the shot on goal there.
