In the first half he got crap for service and England was ripping Italy a new one. In the second half Italy woke up and England went into a shell. He got more service did well, but he shot one over the cross bar when he should have passed. A couple minutes later after some nice passing by Barella, Pellegrini he slotted the shot home. Looked pretty calm for his first outing but I don't know how much time he had practicing with this lineup either.Nice finish by the new argentine kid. How did he play overall?
You can't really say that to a manager who called Zaniolo and Pafundi from primavera , Gnonto from Swiss league and so many other unproven playersStarting Acerbi and Toloi over Scalvini just shows the problem with the mindset in Italy.
I mean, I don't mind this as much since the guy has Italian heritage, but I find it odd that Italy cannot call up its own players and feels the need to compete with Argentina for 17-19 year olds (eg Carboni) or get whoever Brazil discards.Has this Retegui guy even visited in Italy ever?
I bet he accepted Mancini's call because that's his best route to major competitions given Argentina has Lautaro and Alvarez already. This is pretty cynical and should be just banned.
