Lion Rock are a printing company alright - printing money that is. Lol

Jokes aside... what a cheesy name. What a fishy name... what a “imma bout to scam you all” name :D

It's a name relating to Hong Kong....

Glad we got rid of ET who was as an active figure at the club as a wax sculpture.

Those guys, Lion Rock, are a printing company!? :yao: Since when book publishers and printers make sufficient money to buy 30% in a football club and why the hell would they anyway.

At least that gives me hope one day I might be able to afford some shares in Inter as well :alone:

That is Lion Rock Group Ltd. The one bought Inter shares is Lion Rock Capital. I think they are not the same.

Thohir gets a lot of stick here, some justified, but he does not get credit for his good work. Thohir brought a lot of financial discipline at Inter, he was instrumental at reducing costs drastically to make Inter a viable proposition for serious businesses like Suning to invest in.

Even though I am very fond of him, Moratti left Inter in a mess with huge costs structures, declining revenues and in a state of sporting disaster at a time when FFP would make it very difficult to get back. Thohir did the first step, he reduced the costs and brought them in line with our revenues, and then sold us to a serious, rich new owner. Suning are addressing the next two issues, increasing revenues and improving on the sporting side, which in these days of FFP/SA goes hand in hand.

The way I look at it, Thohir was like a good caretaker coach who inherited a mess and laid the foundation for the new coach to build upon.

I'd always thought that the only good pride about Thohir investing in Inter is the fact that he's Indonesian (pardon the patriotic sense). But after seeing Bluenine's post, I got an instrumental reason.

NOW THAT'S A GREAT DEAL - Erick Thohir, after selling his shares to Suning (2016) and LionRock Capital, makes a profit of €150M

Thohir deserves a huge amount of credit. I know for many people here a good owner is a billionaire who sees us as a play thing and just pours in money, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Thohir fixed our cost base and made us a viable business- granted there were poor transfers and bad decisions but in aggregate we were nearly ruined as a business by the end of Moratti because of his overly nostalgic approach to our players and excessive spending habits without any effort to develop us as a business.

Thohir was beneficial from a business standpoint, but being a football club that has high expectations it makes sense that people are disappointed by the sporting results.

It was legitimate to criticize Thohir and make fun of him in the past, and let's draw a veil over the sporting results, but I agree: now it's time to be grateful.

If it weren't for Erick, we would be talking about a reborn FC Ambrosinter Milanese 1908 (?), climbing back from Serie D to Serie A*.
Instead, Lionrock can now gloat and write in their portfolio: "Inter is the only club to have never been relegated from Italy’s top football league".

He had to face difficult tasks in ensuring the transition and cleaning up not only the financial mess he inherited, but also the organisation chart or organigramma of the club (yes, Milly Moratti is still there, but at least she's not "artistic director" anymore: "advisory board" sounds like something more serious), but he did his job.

Business is business: he made the profit he was dreaming of when he took over (plus exposure and related matters). Unintentionally badass.
Now Suning can move on.

*exaggerated for dramatic purposes

I can't appreciate this post enough. For me, even though the performances on the pitch have not been optimal, what Thohir and his team have done on the pitch is probably the turning point from the deep slump we suffered since the Treble era. Decisions seemed like they were no long being made on the hunch of Moratti's guts but actually thought of and planned. Again, some of these did not translate to better achievements or anything but I feel the club definitely looks more professional ever since Thohir invested in us.

not extending overpaid players is hardly some "top" managerial decision. He did not improve anything in inter, the deficit kept widening at his time, he just got lucky in selling at the right time when there was capital flight from China, f him.

thohir took over sept 2013 - for the 12/13 season our 168 mil euros. Source : https://www2.deloitte.com/content/d...it/gx-deloitte-football-money-league-2014.pdf and https://www.statista.com/statistics/251165/revenue-of-internazionale-milan-by-stream/

He left Inter in June 2016, by which time our finances was 179.2 million euros - or 186.8 million euros (two different sources).

Im trying to find details on losses, but cant at the moment. I seem to recall taking over from MOratti was like -100 mil in losses...

I don't understand the hate.
He bought us, transformed us from a family business to a modern business, sold us for profit to a powerful group.
He put us on the road to be a self sustainable club,

I am grateful for all of the above. I don't hate him. I just did not like when he opened his mouth and talked on topics that he knew nothing about or made promises that were not kept.
